Demonic harassment

We join with you in prayer and we thank you for sharing this burden with us, for we know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Eph 6:12. We understand how heavy and frightening demonic harassment can be, especially when it is tied to the trauma and pain of an abusive former relationship, and we want you to know that you are not alone and you are not without hope or authority in Christ.

We want to gently point out that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we must share with you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and power over the enemy. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. If you have not already done so, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for with the heart one believes resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made resulting in salvation Rom 10:9. It is by the name of Jesus that demons must flee and by His blood that we are protected and redeemed.

We rebuke in the name of Jesus every demonic harassment, oppression, and torment that has been coming against you. We declare the truth that He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world 1 John 4:4 and that God has given us authority to tread on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing will in any way hurt us Luke 10:19. We also urge you to take an honest inventory before the Lord in prayer. The enemy often seeks an open door through unforgiveness, lingering soul ties, involvement in sexual immorality outside of marriage which is fornication, or through participation in occult practices, objects, or media. If any of these have been part of your past relationship with your ex or your current life, we encourage you to repent, renounce them, and remove them completely, for we are called to be holy as He is holy. If that former relationship involved sexual intimacy outside of the covenant of marriage between a man and a woman, we encourage you to confess it as sin and receive the forgiveness and cleansing that is in Christ 1 John 1:9.

We also speak to the abuse you endured. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted, and saves those who are crushed in spirit Psalm 34:18. Abuse is never God’s will and we encourage you to maintain firm and godly boundaries with this abusive ex, including no contact if necessary, and to seek wise counsel from a pastor and trusted mature believers in a Bible believing church. If you are in any danger, please also seek help from safe family, church leaders, or appropriate authorities, for God calls us to walk in wisdom and to protect what He has made.

We encourage you to daily put on the whole armor of God Eph 6:11, to submit yourself to God, to resist the devil and he will flee from you James 4:7, and to be sober and self-controlled, for your adversary the devil walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour, whom you should resist steadfast in the faith 1 Pet 5:8-9. Fill your home and your mind with the Word of God, with worship and with prayer, for God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Tim 1:7.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, and we lift up this dear one to Your throne of grace. We thank You that You are our refuge and fortress, our God in whom we trust Psalm 91:2. We ask for Your forgiveness where there has been sin and for Your cleansing by the blood of Jesus. We renounce on their behalf every work of darkness and every assignment of the enemy that has centered around this abusive ex and we command in the name of Jesus that every harassing spirit leave and go to where Jesus sends it and not return. We ask You to break every ungodly soul tie and to heal every wound in their heart, mind, and body. Surround them with Your holy angels, fill their home with Your peace that surpasses all understanding Phil 4:7, and let them sleep in peace for You alone make them dwell in safety Psalm 4:8. Teach them to walk in Your authority, to wield the weapons of our warfare which are not of the flesh, but mighty through God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Cor 10:4, and to stand firm in the freedom Christ has purchased. We pray for complete deliverance, for restoration, and for a future that honors You, whether that be in singleness content in Christ or in a godly marriage to a believing spouse that reflects Christ and the church. We declare that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate them from Your love which is in Christ Jesus our Lord Rom 8:38-39. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, amen.

We are grateful you reached out and shared this. What you are describing sounds exhausting and frightening, especially when harassment feels tied to someone who has already hurt you. It makes sense you would feel on edge and want it to stop.

Living through abuse can leave a deep imprint, and it is understandable that spiritual distress would feel louder in that place. You are not alone in this, and you do not have to sort through it by yourself.

One steady next step that often helps is to bring a couple of safe people close around you. If you have a trusted pastor or counselor, consider letting them know what you have been experiencing and what contact, if any, is still happening with your ex. Having someone who knows your story can help you think through clear boundaries, practical safety, and ongoing prayer support, so you are not carrying this in isolation. If at any point you feel unsafe, please reach out right away to a trusted person or your local support resources.

We are praying for you and we will keep praying.

Father, we lift this dear one to You right now. We ask for Your protection over their home and their mind, for quiet and rest at night, and for freedom from fear and harassment. Surround them with safe community, give them wisdom for every interaction and boundary, and heal what has been wounded by abuse. Lead them step by step in Your peace. In Jesus' name, amen.

We have heard your cry and have carried it before the throne of grace, where the ear of our God is not shut to the prayer of the afflicted. You are not left to speak your griefs to the pitiless sea, for the Lord hears and He is mighty to deliver.

There is a deliverance from the power of darkness which is the work of God alone. As it is written, He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. This deliverance is not by our own strength, but by a ransom which God Himself has found and provided, for His own Son has borne the penalty. When the Lamb was slain, deliverance was wrought, and by His hand and outstretched arm alone His people are brought forth. What comfort this should give to one harassed and pursued, that the same Lord who brought Israel forth with silver and gold, and who made Jacob to find favour in the eyes of Esau when he feared the bloodthirsty brother, is able to make a way of escape for you and to set a hedge about you.

We know also what it is to have a broken heart, for there are many forms of that great ill. But the Lord heals the broken in heart. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the very leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing virtue. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. May the Sun of Righteousness rise upon you with healing in His wings, and may pardon and healing be one to your soul, as when Jesus said to the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you.

Let us pray for you.

O Lord our God, who alone can deliver from the pit and from the archers of the enemy, look in mercy upon this afflicted one. Thou knowest the harassment and the fear, and the wound left by an abusive hand. We ask Thee to deliver from all demonic oppression and from every power of darkness, through the ransom found in Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone is salvation. Bring forth this soul into liberty and peace, and let no weapon formed against Thy child prosper. Heal the broken heart, bind up the wound, and let Thy free grace be the whole hope and honor of deliverance. Grant protection by night and by day, wisdom for every step, godly counsel and a safe refuge among Thy people, and a settled peace that Thou art near. We ask not for the continuance of what has been harmful, but for holiness, wholeness and rest in Christ. Let this trial become a testimony, that this one may live and declare the works of the Lord. In the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour and Healer we pray. Amen.
