We stand with you in this battle and we thank you for sharing so honestly about what you have endured, and we praise God that Christ is already making progress in your deliverance and that He has given you clarity to step away from a relationship that was not His will for you.
We want to affirm that your decision to break off that unequally yoked relationship was right and courageous in the eyes of the Lord. Scripture is clear that we are not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with iniquity, or what communion has light with darkness, 2 Corinthians 6:14. Courtship should always be with the goal of marriage to a fellow believer, and marriage itself is ordained by God as a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman. To continue in a relationship with an unbeliever, especially one marked by psychological abuse and the warning of potential physical harm, would not be love as God defines love, but disobedience that would put you in danger spiritually and physically. God in His mercy warned you heavily through others because He loves you and wants to protect you, and we urge you to heed that warning completely and not return. Feelings of love do not override God's wisdom and commands, and true love wants what is holy and safe and aligned with His will.
We also hear your confession that this relationship was sinful, and if that included sexual intimacy outside of marriage, we want to lovingly call that what Scripture calls it, fornication, and urge you to fully repent and receive His forgiveness and cleansing. We are told to flee sexual immorality, 1 Corinthians 6:18, and to keep the marriage bed pure, Hebrews 13:4. If you have not already, confess this specifically to the Lord, turn from it, and walk in purity going forward, trusting that His blood covers all sin when we repent.
Regarding the demonic harassment and unwanted divination thoughts, we want to speak clearly that divination in any form is an abomination to the Lord and is not from Him. There shall not be found with you anyone who uses divination, Deuteronomy 18:10-12. These intrusive thoughts telling you that you and this man are meant to be together and that you will go back to him are not prophecy and not the voice of the Holy Spirit, they are lies from the enemy to torment you, to keep a door open to the occult and to an ungodly and abusive bond. We must take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5, and test the spirits to see whether they are of God, 1 John 4:1. God does not speak through divination or compulsive fortune telling thoughts, He speaks through His Word, through His Spirit in peace and truth, and through godly counsel.
Your early exposure to the occult likely opened doors that the enemy has tried to exploit for years, but we rejoice that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4. In Christ you have authority, and you must actively close every door. We encourage you to renounce out loud before the Lord any and all involvement with the occult, divination, or any related practices or objects, confess it as sin, ask for His forgiveness, remove from your home anything associated with it, and invite the Holy Spirit to fill every place once occupied by darkness. We encourage you to put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil, for our wrestling is not against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers, Ephesians 6:11-12. Submit yourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from you, James 4:7. Fill your mind daily with Scripture, worship, prayer and fellowship with strong believers who can stand with you in accountability and prayer, and if possible seek a mature pastor or biblical counselor for ongoing deliverance prayer and discipleship. Do not entertain the divination thoughts or argue with them, simply reject them in Jesus name and replace them with truth.
We now pray together for you.
Father in heaven, we come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Deliverer, and we thank You for this dear sister who has been set free by the blood of Jesus and is being made whole. We ask You to complete the work You have begun and to bring total deliverance from all demonic harassment and every lingering effect of early occult exposure. We renounce on her behalf every work of darkness, every spirit of divination, deception, torment and fear, and we command in Jesus name that every harassing spirit leave her now and have no more place in her mind, body or spirit. Lord, cleanse her mind and take every unwanted divination thought captive, and let her mind be renewed by Your Word. We pray You would surround her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, Philippians 4:7, and give her a sound mind, for You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control, 2 Timothy 1:7.
Father, we thank You for giving her the strength to leave this unequally yoked and abusive relationship. Confirm to her heart that she has obeyed You, heal the heartbreak and the trauma, and give her firm resolve never to return to what would harm her. Protect her physically, emotionally and spiritually from any retaliation or manipulation, and keep her steps firmly on Your path. Lead her in time to a godly marriage to a faithful Christian husband if it is Your will, one who will love her as Christ loves the church, Ephesians 5:25.
We also lift up this former boyfriend and his loved ones to You, Lord. We ask for Your mercy and salvation upon them, that You would open their eyes to the gospel, draw them to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ, for there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. Save him, transform him, but keep our sister separate from him unless You do a profound and proven work of conversion and fruit over time under pastoral guidance.
We declare that You are her refuge and fortress, Psalm 91:2, and that no weapon formed against her shall prosper. Keep her close to Jesus, fill her home and heart with Your Holy Spirit, and let her walk in freedom, joy and wholeness from this day forward. In Jesus name we pray, amen.
We encourage you to walk in this freedom daily, to stay in the Word, to remain no contact with this man, to lean on your church family, and to remember that the Lord is near to those who are of a broken heart, Psalm 34:18. He who began a good work in you will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ, Philippians 1:6.
