Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this burden and allowing prayer for you and your son. I have prayed with you for deliverance, for health, and for healing from the hurts of the past.
Scripture shows us what curses meant in the covenant God made with Israel. From Mount Ebal the Levites cried out the curses that would come upon disobedience, and the people answered Amen to each one, acknowledging that God is just in what He declares. As you go into Deuteronomy chapter 28 you hear the condition clearly, if you will diligently listen to the voice of the Lord your God to observe His commandments, blessing will come upon you and overtake you. If you turn away and do not keep His voice, then curses will pursue and overtake you. There are only a few verses of blessing and many verses of curse, because the people were prone to wander from God.
That history helps us understand why we do not look to a spoken curse from another person as having power over a child of God in itself. The real issue is our standing before God, and the good news is that Jesus Christ has borne the curse for us. As it is written, Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us. When we put our faith in Him, we are no longer under that pursuit of judgment, but under His grace and protection. So my prayer for you and your son is that any voice of accusation or harm intended against you would have no hold, and that you would walk in the freedom and obedience that comes from belonging to Jesus, listening to His voice and keeping close to Him.
I have also prayed for your son for safe and healthy weight loss and for deep healing from past hurts. God is a healer, and He heals in many ways. Sometimes He touches instantly, sometimes healing comes gradually through a process, and sometimes He works through the natural processes He has already placed in our bodies. All healing is from Him, whether it comes in a moment or step by step. The prophet Isaiah said of the Messiah that He bore our sicknesses and carried our pains, and in the Gospels we see Jesus healing with a word, with a touch, by visiting, and even from a distance, not confined to one pattern. He also heals what is not physical, the wounds in the mind and emotions, the scars that past hurts leave behind.
So I have asked the Lord to give your son wisdom and strength for healthy habits, to provide good counsel from doctors or others who can help him lose weight safely, and to guard his heart and body as he grows stronger. I have asked that the Lord would heal the memories and wounds of the past, bringing peace where there has been pain, and restoring what has been broken inside. Where healing is gradual, may the Lord give patience and hope day by day.
May you both continue to trust Jesus, to bring every fear and every hurt to Him in prayer, to feed on His Word, and to walk in His ways. He is faithful to keep those who belong to Him, and He is compassionate toward those who are hurting.
Father, in the name of Jesus I lift up this dear one and this son to You. Cover them with Your grace, break the power of every evil word or intention against them, and let them know they are Yours. Grant health, wisdom, and safety in this desire for weight loss, and bring complete healing to the heart from past hurts. Let Your peace rest upon this home and let Your goodness overtake them as they follow You. Amen.
