Beloved of All
Thank you for bringing this burden forward for prayer. Your desire for freedom from any curse and for healing and wholeness for your son is understood, and it is right to bring it to the Lord.
Scripture shows us that when the law was given, blessings were pronounced from one mountain for obedience and curses were pronounced from the other mountain for disobedience. The people were to answer Amen to those curses, acknowledging that disobedience rightly brings judgment. As you read through those passages you find only a few verses of blessing and many verses of curse, because disobedience was the more common path. Those curses were the declared consequence of breaking covenant with God, of turning away from His voice and walking after the imagination of the heart.
The good news of the gospel is that Jesus Christ has borne the curse for us. He fulfilled the law perfectly and then took upon Himself the judgment that disobedience deserves, so that those who put their trust in Him are no longer under the curse of the law but under grace. There is no curse spoken by others that can overpower the blood of Christ and the covenant He has established through His sacrifice. If there has been sin, it is confessed and forsaken and forgiven. If there is fear of words spoken against you and your son, you can rest in the protection of the Lord who is your covering.
For your son, we join you in praying for both physical and inner healing. The prophet Isaiah said that the Messiah would bear our griefs and carry our sorrows, and that by His wounds we are healed. Matthew applies that same passage to the physical healings Jesus performed, showing that His suffering was for the whole person, body and soul. When Jesus broke the bread and said this is My body broken for you, His body was broken open for us through His suffering, not that a bone was broken, for Scripture said not a bone of Him would be broken, but that His body was given so that we might receive forgiveness and healing.
God also cares about the hurts of the heart. He is near to those who have a broken spirit and a contrite heart, and He does not despise that humility. He sees past wounds and the weariness they bring, and He is able to heal memories and restore peace where there has been pain and bitterness.
Let us pray together. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You for this parent and for this son. We thank You that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us. We ask that any power of darkness, any word spoken against them, and any consequence of past sin would be broken by the blood of Jesus. We place them under Your protection and declare Your blessing over their lives as they walk in obedience to Your voice.
We pray for this son's body, that You would help him to lose weight in a safe and healthy way. Give him wisdom, self control, and strength to care for the body You have given him, and guide those who may advise him in health. We pray for healing from past hurts, that You would mend what has been broken, wash away bitterness, and bring wholeness to his heart and mind. Let him know Your love that sustains in the day of crisis, and let him experience the healing that flows from what Jesus accomplished on the cross.
We commit them to Your hands, trusting that You hear and that You are faithful to complete Your good work. Amen.
