Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing this request and allowing us to pray with you. We are joining you in prayer for deliverance, for health, and for healing from the wounds of the past.
The Scripture helps us understand what curses are. In Deuteronomy chapters 27 and 28, the people stood in the valley with blessings pronounced from one mountain and curses pronounced from Mount Ebal. After each curse was spoken, the people were to answer Amen, agreeing that the judgment was right. Those curses were not random spells or words spoken by others that hang over a person. They were the stated consequences of breaking the covenant and turning away from the voice of the Lord. The text says those curses would pursue and overtake those who refused to keep His commandments. There are only a few verses describing the blessings for obedience, and many more describing the curses, showing how seriously God warned His people because disobedience was so common.
The good news is that through Jesus Christ we are delivered from that condemnation. He bore our griefs and infirmities, as Isaiah 53 says, and Matthew applies that directly to Jesus healing the sick and afflicted. When we come to Christ in faith, we are no longer under the curse of the broken law, but under His grace and forgiveness. So we pray for you and your son that any weight of sin, guilt, or fear that feels like a curse would be broken in Christ, and that you would walk in the freedom and peace of knowing you are forgiven and kept by Him.
We also pray for your son's physical health. God cares for the body He created. The Gospels show Jesus healing in different ways. Sometimes He healed instantly with a word, sometimes with a touch, sometimes healing came gradually. All healing is from God, whether it comes in a moment or through the natural processes He built into our bodies. We pray that God will give your son wisdom, strength and self control, and guide him to safe and steady ways to care for his health and lose weight in a way that honors God and protects his body, and that the Lord will give encouragement along the way.
We pray as well for healing from past hurts. The Lord heals not only the body but the mind and emotions. He can heal the scars and wounds that remain from what has happened before. Scripture teaches us not to live anchored in the past, whether in past failures or past injuries, but to count those things as loss compared to knowing Christ and to press forward. That does not mean pretending the hurt did not happen, but bringing it to Jesus, receiving His comfort, and allowing Him to renew the heart so the past does not control the present.
Father, we bring this family before You in the name of Jesus. We ask for Your deliverance and protection, that they would know they are redeemed from the curse through the blood of Christ. We ask for safe and healthy change for this son, for discipline and health in body, and for deep healing of every past hurt. Heal what is wounded, restore what is broken, and help them to forget what lies behind and walk forward with You in hope and wholeness. Amen.
