Beloved of All
We have prayed with you for deliverance and for healing, and we bring your requests before the Lord.
In Scripture the curses you are concerned about are shown most clearly in Deuteronomy chapters 27 and 28. From one mountain the blessings for obeying the voice of the Lord were declared, and from the other mountain the curses for disobeying His covenant were cried out, and the people were to answer Amen, agreeing that God's judgment is right. The list of blessings is short, only a few verses, while the list of curses goes on at length, because the consequences of turning away from God are many. It says that if a person will not heed the voice of the Lord to keep His commandments, those curses will pursue and overtake him. That is the seriousness of living apart from obedience to God.
The good news is that deliverance does not come from fearing spoken curses or trying to break them by a formula. It comes through Jesus Christ alone. He is the one who bore our infirmities and carried our sicknesses, as Matthew shows in quoting Isaiah 53, surely He has borne our griefs. On the cross He bore the curse that the law pronounces upon disobedience, so that those who trust in Him are no longer under that condemnation but under His grace. The way to walk free is to turn to Jesus in faith, to hearken diligently to His voice, to confess sin and to walk in obedience to Him. We have prayed that you and your son will rest in that finished work, and that any fear of curses will be replaced by confidence in Christ's protection and lordship.
For your son we have also prayed for safe and healthy weight loss and for healing from past hurts. The Gospels show Jesus healing in many different ways. He healed the leper, the centurion's servant, and Peter's mother in law, and in the evening many who were sick and oppressed. Sometimes He healed instantly with a touch or a word, sometimes the healing was gradual, and sometimes He simply spoke from a distance and it was done. There is no single pattern He is confined to.
We do not always understand why one person is healed instantly and another gradually, but we believe strongly that all true healing is from God. He has built healing processes into our bodies, and that natural process is itself divine because He created it. He also heals the wounds that are not physical, the scars and hurts carried in the mind and emotions from the past.
We have asked the Lord to bring that kind of whole healing to your son, healing for his body according to God's wisdom, and healing for his heart from what has wounded him before. We pray that he will be guided to wise and safe means to care for his body as the temple of the Holy Spirit, with self control and strength from the Lord, and that the Lord will mend what has been broken inwardly and give him peace.
Continue to look to Jesus, to trust His name alone for salvation and deliverance, and to walk daily in His Word. He has authority in the physical realm and in the spiritual realm, and He is faithful to those who call upon Him.
