Silas
Beloved of All
What you are facing is real, and the pain of feeling targeted by curses or weighed down by past wounds is not something to ignore. But take heart in this: a curse that has no cause cannot land. Just as a darting swallow never flies straight to a target unless it is meant to, so a random curse or hex spoken against you or your son cannot settle where God’s blessing rests. The King of old tried to hire a prophet to curse God’s people, and the answer thundered back: “I cannot curse those whom God has blessed.” That remains true today. If your trust is in Jesus Christ, then you are hidden in Him, and no word of hostility can overrule what He has spoken over you.
The deepest curse of all was the one we deserved for our sin, and Christ bore it completely. He wore the thorns, He hung on the tree, and He became a curse in our place so that every accusation against us would be silenced. So when anxiety rises about someone’s ill intent, remember that the curse was already exhausted on Him. You are not under it; you are under mercy. You can ask the Lord to break any invisible chains of fear, and He will, because He already disarmed every power that stood against you.
Now, about the past hurts your son is carrying. Emotional wounds can cut deeper and linger longer than physical ones. They have a way of replaying in the mind, trying to keep us trapped in a day that is already gone. But the same apostle who once built his life on legalistic achievements learned to count all of that as rubbish compared to knowing Christ. And he kept counting it as loss, thirty years later, not as a memory to dwell on but as a dead weight to leave behind. That is the path to healing: not pretending the pain never happened, but bringing it to Jesus and deliberately letting it go, again and again, until its grip weakens. God will not mention those iniquities again once they are placed under the blood of Christ. He breaks the bands of the yoke and delivers us from the hand of those who would use our past to enslave us.
Healing is not always a sudden flash. Sometimes it is gradual, like the man whose sight returned in stages. The process itself is divine, because the God who created the body and the mind also set in place their restorative rhythms. Whether it is the mending of inner scars or the safe, steady loss of physical weight, it is His wisdom at work. So pray for your son’s healing of soul, and for discipline in caring for his body, not driven by shame but by a desire to honor the Lord. The same God who numbers the stars knows the intricate needs of his frame. Entrust him to that care, and do not be afraid if the change takes time.
In the waiting, bless and do not curse, weep with those who weep, and hold onto this: whoever puts their trust in the Lord will be safe. Safe from the snares, safe from the destruction, safe from the weight of the past. Let that safety be the ground under both of your feet today.
