Deliverance

When you bring this request for deliverance from curses, safety in weight loss, and healing from past hurts, I am drawn to the ancient pattern God set before His people. On Mount Ebal, the curses were declared for those who would turn aside from God’s commands; but on Mount Gerizim, the blessings were proclaimed for those who would hearken diligently to His voice. What determines your standing is not the words of others, but your relationship with the Lord who redeems.

A curse that has no just cause is like a fluttering sparrow, it cannot find a resting place on you. Scripture warns that many seek the favor of human rulers, but real safety comes from putting your trust in the Lord. He is the one who keeps you from falling, who shields you from every trap of the enemy. So we do not fear spoken curses, for Christ has become our redemption. Just as the firstborn had to be bought back by a sacrifice, so He purchased you and your son with His own blood. Every claim of darkness is broken because you belong to Him.

I pray specifically that any curse, whether word, thought, or rite, that has been directed against the two of you would be rendered powerless now, annulled by the cross and drowned in the mercy of God. You are not under the law of Ebal; you are under the blessing of Gerizim because Jesus bore the curse for us.

For your son’s weight loss, I ask the Lord for a safe, steady restoration of his body. God cares about our physical frames; He made them and redeems them. Since healing is for today, I petition Jesus to grant him wisdom, self-control, and freedom from any compulsion or shame that would drive unhealthy patterns. Let the same power that kept the pillar of cloud and fire over Israel guide him into wise choices, not through worldly obsession, but through a quiet, disciplined trust that his body is the Lord’s.

And for the past hurts, I know that emotional wounds cut deeply, often deeper than physical blows. The tongue can leave scars that linger, and many find themselves wandering in a wilderness of remembered pain long after deliverance from some outward sin. But God does not intend for you to stay in that desert. The same deliverance that brought Israel out of Egypt was meant to lead them into a land flowing with milk and honey. Unbelief says, “Look at the size of your hurts, the years of abuse, the impossibility of change.” Faith looks away from the past and into the face of the One who heals. So I ask the Spirit to mend every torn place, to fill the void that emotional cruelty carved out, and to let you taste the full blessings of life in Christ. Let there be a celebration, like Miriam’s dance on the shore of the Red Sea, for God is still bringing His people out of bondage.

Trust Him with this. He is able to keep you from falling, to keep you from lingering in the wilderness. His word is true: put your trust in Him, and you shall be safe, safe from the consequence of sin, safe from the power of the enemy, safe from destruction. Let that confidence be yours as we pray.
