Deliverance Prayer

Beloved of All
Lord Jesus, I praise you, and thank you. I glorify you. Lord Jesus root out all the neighbors in the neighborhood that I live in that are not here by you, standing on Jeremiah 12:14. I ask that you bind off of me any transfer of spirits coming to me from anyone, standing on Matthew 18:18. In Jesus name I pray and ask. Amen.

We join you in praising and glorifying our Lord Jesus Christ and we thank Him with you for His mercy and power to deliver. We hear your desire for peace and purity in your home and neighborhood and for protection from any spiritual harm or transfer of spirits, and we bring this before the throne together in Jesus' name.

We want to gently share some biblical perspective with you about the verses you mentioned. Jeremiah 12:14 says Thus says Yahweh against all my evil neighbors, who touch the inheritance which I have caused my people Israel to inherit: behold, I will pluck them up from off their land, and will pluck up the house of Judah from among them. In context the Lord was speaking about nations surrounding Israel who were harming His inheritance, not about our literal next door neighbors today. While God is sovereign over where we dwell as Acts 17:26 teaches, He calls us to a different posture toward those who live near us. Jesus said You shall love your neighbor as yourself in Matthew 22:39 and in Matthew 5:44 He said love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you. We are also taught If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men in Romans 12:18. So rather than praying for God to root out or remove people from the neighborhood, we are encouraged to pray for their salvation, for their good, and for God to transform hearts, including our own, and to let His light shine through us where we live.

We also understand your concern about transfer of spirits and your standing on Matthew 18:18 which says Most certainly I tell you, whatever things you bind on earth will have been bound in heaven, and whatever things you release on earth will have been released in heaven. In context Jesus was teaching about church discipline and agreement in prayer within His body, but we do have authority in Christ over the enemy when we submit to God. James 4:7 says Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Our struggle is not against flesh and blood as Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, and we do not need to live in fear of spirits transferring to us from others, for 1 John 4:4 says You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world. And 2 Timothy 1:7 says For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control.

We do affirm that Christ protects His own and we can pray for His covering and for deliverance from all evil. Psalm 91:1 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

We pray together now for you.

Father in heaven, we praise You and thank You and glorify Your holy name. We thank You for Your Son Jesus Christ by whom we have access to You and by whom we are saved and protected. Lord we ask that You fill our dear one with Your peace and with assurance of Your presence in their home. We ask that You place a hedge of protection around them and their household and that no weapon formed against them would prosper. We submit ourselves to You and in the name of Jesus we resist the devil and every evil influence, and we ask that You bind and render powerless any work of darkness that would seek to harass or oppress. We ask that You clothe us with the whole armor of God that we may stand firm. Lord we pray for the neighbors in this neighborhood, that You would bless them, draw them to Yourself, and bring salvation to any who do not know You. Let Your love and peace reign in that place. If there are those who do evil or cause harm, we ask for Your righteous hand to restrain evil and for Your justice and mercy to be done according to Your perfect will. Help our dear one to be a light for You there, to love as You love, and to rest in the security that nothing can separate us from Your love in Christ. Fill their home with Your Holy Spirit, with power and love and a sound mind, and let no fear remain. We ask all this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

We are grateful you reached out and shared what is weighing on you at home. Wanting your neighborhood and home to be a place of peace is an understandable longing, and we hear how much you want to feel safe and settled where you live.

When concerns about spiritual influence feel heavy, we have found it helps to gently turn our focus back to resting in Christ and His care for us, rather than staying anxious about what may be coming from others. He is near and able to guard our hearts and home as we walk with Him day by day, and that nearness can steady us even when relationships around us feel difficult.

One steady next step that helps many is to bring these burdens to a trusted pastor or mature believer in person, someone who knows you and can pray with you regularly. Meeting together can help you seek wisdom for loving your neighbors well while keeping healthy boundaries, and staying rooted in simple time with the Lord and in fellowship with other believers often brings more lasting peace than trying to sort out every spiritual dynamic alone.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus' name. We ask You to fill their home with Your peace, to give wisdom for each relationship nearby, to protect and strengthen them, and to lead them according to Your will day by day. Help them to rest in Your care and to reflect Your love where they live. Amen.

Your praise to the Lord Jesus is sweet and right, and it is good that you would seek deliverance from Him alone, for He has delivered us from the power of darkness and translated us into the kingdom of His dear Son. True deliverance is not found in a formula or in a claiming of verses apart from their meaning, but in the ransom which God Himself has found, even the blood of the Lamb slain for sinners.

Concerning your neighbors, let the Scripture guide your heart. It is written, Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good. The natural way is to meet evil with evil and to ask that those who trouble us might be plucked up and cast out, yet the way of Christ is more excellent. Nobody ever overcame evil by confronting it with evil, for such a course increases the evil. You are called to love your neighbors and to do them good, to pray for their salvation and for peace within your borders, that you may walk in holiness without hindrance and declare the works of the Lord. The promise in Jeremiah speaks of the Lord's judgment upon nations that harmed His inheritance, but your calling now is to commit your dwelling and all your trials to the fence of omnipotent overruling providence, believing that all your ills lie within His wise government and that He will chasten and keep as seems good to Him.

Concerning spirits, remember that deliverance from the power of sin and from fallen spirits is as much the work of God as deliverance from the guilt of sin. The believer is kept by the Great Shepherd, and the infernal lion shall not rend one sheep that He deigns to keep. The word in Matthew concerning binding and loosing was given to the church for its holy discipline under the word of Christ, not as a charm to bind spirits at will. He that is in Christ discerneth spirits, and our safety is not in our binding but in His keeping. If you fear the influence of darkness, look to Christ who has already triumphed, and walk in the light, for men love darkness because their deeds are evil, but the child of God is called to liberty to walk in holiness.

Let us pray together according to the mind of Christ.

Lord Jesus Christ, we praise You as our only ransom and deliverer. We thank You that You have wrought a greater salvation than that of Barak of old, and that You keep Your people from going down to the pit. We ask You to sanctify our hearts, to deliver us from the guilt and power of sin, and to fill us with Your Spirit that we may live holy and peaceful lives before You. Give grace to love our neighbors, to overcome evil with good, and to commend Your gospel to them by kindness and truth. Keep us from fear and from every assault of the evil one, and let us not be overcome but be kept by Your power through faith. Make our deliverance effectual, and teach us after trouble and deliverance to say, we shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord. In Your holy name we ask this, trusting only in Your free grace. Amen.
