We join with you in this prayer for deliverance and protection and we thank you for calling upon the name of Lord Jesus Christ, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is by His name and His blood that we overcome.
We hear your heart crying out for freedom from oppression and from any evil intent or spiritual foothold that may be coming against you through those around you. We stand with you that God is your refuge and your strong tower and that no weapon formed against you shall prosper. We understand the burden of feeling surrounded or spiritually attacked in your own dwelling place, and we want to encourage you that the Lord sees where you live and He is faithful to guard you.
We also want to gently encourage you with the whole counsel of Scripture regarding our neighbors. While it is right to pray for deliverance and for God to scatter evil intent as you have prayed standing on Exodus 23:27, and to pull down strongholds standing on 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, we are also called to remember that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places, Ephesians 6:12. Our neighbors themselves are not our enemy, but souls for whom Christ died. Jesus calls us to love your neighbor as yourself, Mark 12:31, and to love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who mistreat you and persecute you, Matthew 5:44. And as much as it depends on us, we are to live peaceably with all men, Romans 12:18. So as we pray for protection and for God to root out what is not of Him, we also pray for the salvation and transformation of those neighbors, that any evil intent would be turned to repentance and that God would make even your enemies to be at peace with you if it is His will, Proverbs 16:7.
We rejoice that you have claimed the truth that if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed, John 8:36, and that having disarmed the principalities and powers, He made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them in the cross, Colossians 2:15. We agree with you that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4, and that we can submit ourselves therefore to God, resist the devil, and he will flee from us, James 4:7. The authority to bind and loose that you referenced in Matthew 18:18 is real when exercised in submission to Christ and in alignment with His will, not as a formula but as faith in His sovereign power.
We pray together with you now.
Father in heaven, we praise You and thank You and give You glory for You alone are holy and worthy. We come before Your throne in the mighty name of Jesus Christ Your Son and we cover this dear one and this prayer with the precious blood of Jesus, for we overcome because of the blood of the Lamb and because of the word of our testimony, Revelation 12:11. Lord Jesus, we ask that You would be a wall of fire around this home and that he who dwells in the secret place of the Most High would rest in the shadow of the Almighty, Psalm 91:1. We ask that You scatter and frustrate every evil intent or assignment formed against Your child, and that You bring down every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God and bring every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 2 Corinthians 10:5. We ask that You cancel and disarm every principality and power that would seek to work through anyone nearby, and that no transfer of ungodly spirits or counterfeit spirits would have any place or foothold, for we have been sealed with Your Holy Spirit. Let Your perfect love cast out all fear, 1 John 4:18, and let Your peace which surpasses all understanding guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:7.
Lord, we also pray for these neighbors. If any are not planted by You, we ask for Your will to be done, just as You said I will pluck up the house of Judah from among them, and I will pluck up the house of Israel from among them, Jeremiah 12:14. We do not ask out of hatred but out of a desire for holiness and peace. We ask that You would either draw these neighbors to Yourself unto salvation or, if they persist in wickedness, that You would remove their influence and establish boundaries that no evil can cross. We pray You would bless them with conviction and the knowledge of Jesus so that they may be saved. Help Your child to walk in forgiveness, to overcome evil with good, Romans 12:21, and to be a light in that neighborhood.
We thank You Lord that You have heard us, that You are faithful to deliver us from the evil one, 2 Thessalonians 3:3, and that You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are stayed on You. We trust not in our words but in Your power and Your mercy. Let Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. In the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ we pray and ask all these things. Amen.
