Lord Jesus,

I praise you, and thank you. I glorify you. Lord Jesus I ask that you place conviction upon the life of my ### and his bitterness and my brother, asking that you root out their bitterness out of the life of my son and mine, standing on Jeremiah 12:14. I bind off of me and my son any transfer of spirits coming from my ### or my brother, standing on Matthew 18:18. In Jesus name I pray and ask. Amen.

We hear your cry for deliverance and stand with you in agreement, lifting this burden before the throne of grace. The bitterness you describe is a heavy chain, and we declare in the mighty name of Jesus that it has no place in your life or your son’s. Bitterness is a poison that defiles many (Hebrews 12:15), and we rebuke its grip on your family. The Lord is near to those who call on Him in truth (Psalm 145:18), and He alone can uproot the deep-seated resentment that seeks to take root.

Your prayer rightly invokes the authority of Christ, for it is only through His name that we have power over the enemy. Jesus said, "Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 18:18 WEB). We stand on this promise, declaring that any ungodly transfer of spirits, whether from generational strongholds, past wounds, or present conflicts, is broken now by the blood of Jesus. The enemy has no legal right to operate where the light of Christ shines.

Yet we must also address the condition of the heart, for deliverance is not merely about binding spirits but about surrendering to the Holy Spirit. Bitterness often takes hold when we refuse to forgive, and Scripture is clear: "If you forgive others their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses" (Matthew 6:14-15 WEB). Have you extended forgiveness to your brother and ###, even if they have not asked for it? Forgiveness is not a feeling but a choice, a command from our Savior. We pray that the Lord would soften your heart to release them, not for their sake alone, but for your freedom.

We also caution against focusing solely on the actions of others, for the enemy would love nothing more than to keep you in a cycle of blame. While it is right to pray for conviction to fall on those who have caused harm, we must also examine our own hearts. Are there areas where you have allowed resentment to fester? The Lord searches the heart and tests the mind (Jeremiah 17:10), and He desires truth in our inward parts (Psalm 51:6). Let us pray that He would reveal any hidden bitterness in you, that you may repent and walk in the fullness of His peace.

Father God, we come before You in the name of Jesus, the Name that is above every name. We thank You for Your faithfulness and Your promise to deliver us from all evil. Lord, we ask that You would break the chains of bitterness in this family. Uproot every seed of resentment, anger, and unforgiveness from their hearts. Let Your Holy Spirit convict ### and the brother of their sin, that they may turn to You in repentance. We declare that no weapon formed against this family shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we bind every spirit of division, strife, and offense in Jesus’ name.

Lord, we ask that You fill this mother and son with Your peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Teach them to forgive as You have forgiven them, and help them to walk in love, even toward those who have wronged them. We pray for restoration in their relationships, not as the world defines it, but as You do, with humility, grace, and truth. May they be a testimony of Your redeeming power, shining Your light in the darkness.

We also pray for wisdom and discernment. Father, show them how to guard their hearts (Proverbs 4:23) and to walk in the authority You have given them as believers. Let them not be ignorant of the enemy’s schemes (2 Corinthians 2:11), but let them stand firm in the armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18). We declare that they are more than conquerors through Christ who loves them (Romans 8:37), and we thank You for the victory that is already theirs.

Lastly, Lord, we ask that You draw this family closer to You. Let this trial be a catalyst for deeper intimacy with You, that they may know You more and trust You completely. May they find their identity in Christ alone, and may their lives bring glory to Your name. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.

Your prayer has been heard and we join with you in seeking the Lord who is our deliverance.

There is a strong tower into which the righteous run and are safe, and that tower is the name of the Lord. When there is war within the family and war without, when bitterness rises like a flood and the heart is troubled on every side, we are taught to run into this stronghold. He is good, a stronghold in the day of trouble, and His goodness is seen when He washed us in the precious blood of Christ, clothed us in His righteousness and adopted us into His family. He preserves His people even to the end, not as a temporary camp but as a fortress intended to stand from generation to generation.

You ask that bitterness might be rooted out, and this is a right prayer. The Scriptures show us that there is a bitterness which is most gracious in its effects. When we first see Christ and mourn for Him as one mourns for an only son, a holy bitterness comes into the soul. It makes sin appear as a sour apple and exceeding bitter, and it takes away all bitterness against our fellow men. The world loses its charms and the heart is softened toward those who have wronged us. We pray that the Lord would work this true conviction in every heart you have named, in your own heart and in the heart of your son, and also in those who have dealt bitterly with you. May He root out the bitter root and in its place plant that holiness which comes from looking to Christ.

You speak of binding and of spirits transferred from one to another. Hear what the Word teaches concerning our deliverance. Deliverance from the guilt of sin and deliverance from the power of sin are both the work of God alone. We must look to our heavenly Father altogether and alone for sanctification as we do for justification. The prisoner ready to be executed finds undeserved deliverance because the King's own Son has borne the penalty of all his iniquities. God Himself has found a ransom. He has invented the way and He has provided it in Christ, so that deliverance is certain and already accomplished for all who trust in Him. It is of free grace only, that no man may take an atom of honor to himself. Therefore we do not trust in phrases or formulas, but in the person and blood of Jesus. Standing upon His finished work, we ask Him to keep you and your son under the shadow of His wings and to preserve you from the power of darkness.

We pray also that you may know that your deliverance, when it comes, is attended with enrichment. He brought forth His people with silver and gold, and He brings forth His redeemed today with fuller measures of grace. He makes deliverance effectual. He brings them forth.

Let us pray together.

Lord Jesus Christ, Thou hast found a ransom and Thou art the stronghold of Thy people. We ask that Thou wouldst look upon this wounded family. Bring conviction of sin where there is hardness of heart, and grant repentance that leads to life through faith in Thee alone, for there is salvation in no other. Root out bitterness and plant in its place love, forgiveness and holiness after Thine own likeness. Keep this dear soul and this dear son from all evil, and cause them to abide in Thee. Order every relationship and every household according to Thy holy and good design, that marriage where it is entered be honored as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that all lives be kept pure and chaste before Thee. Let Thy name be their Jehovah Shalom, the Lord sending peace. Thou hast chastened sorely, but Thou wilt not give over to death. Grant that they may live and declare the works of the Lord, giving hearty assent and consent to Thy salvation, and magnifying Thy tender indulgence toward the least and feeblest of Thy family. We ask this, trusting not in our binding but in Thy binding and loosing in heaven, and in Thy power to deliver to the uttermost. Amen.

Take comfort that the clock of mercy strikes in heaven at the hour appointed by the eternal purpose of Jehovah. He will bring you forth, and you shall have a song of deliverance to sing in the house of your pilgrimage.

God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the love, grace, wisdom, and knowledge of Christ Jesus. God bless me to know You in truth, fall in love with You with all my heart, mind, soul, body, and strength and never fall out of love with You. God, bless me to have an ever growing closer stronger, more intimate relationship with You. Bless me with the love, desire, strength, and the spirit of obedience to always delight myself in You, seek first Your kingdom, Your righteousness, and to always respect and obey You. Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Your prayer has been brought before the Lord with thanksgiving and we join you in asking for His mercy and deliverance for you and your son.

We hear your desire to see bitterness rooted out and to be kept from its defilement. Scripture warns us to look diligently lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble us and by it many be defiled. A root of bitterness is not merely a bitter feeling that may pass, but a fountain that bears only bitter fruit, all unpleasant and full of hatred. For that reason it must not be allowed to send up shoots, but must be cut off at the root. This is done not by our own power of binding phrases, but by repentance, forgiveness, and driving away bitterness and wrath and malice from the heart, so that when we become kind and tenderhearted and forgiving toward one another, the Holy Spirit is not hindered but comes to fill the heart and makes the way of virtue possible.

We pray with you that God would bring true conviction of sin wherever it is needed, in your own life, in your son, and in those you have named, that He would grant repentance that leads to life. We ask that whatever bitterness has taken hold would be exposed and removed, and that you and your son would be guarded from its contagion. The promise of Matthew 18:18 speaks of the authority Christ has given to His Church to bind and loose in matters of discipline and forgiveness in His name, and we pray that you would know the freedom of forgiveness through Christ alone, for there is no other name by which we are saved and no deliverance apart from Him.

God does not always promise immediate deliverance from every hardship, but He does set His people above dangers and plants His truth and His miracles firmly in our hearts, teaching us the immortality of the soul and giving us strength to stand. In Christ we have deliverance from the curse and adoption as sons, having put on Christ and received the Spirit of adoption.

So we pray: Lord Jesus Christ, You alone are our deliverance and our hope, have mercy upon this parent and child. Root out all bitterness, cleanse every defilement, and fill their hearts with Your Spirit. Grant conviction where there is sin, grant repentance and faith, guard them from evil, and make them to live for Your glory and for the good of others. Lead them in holiness according to Your design for life and family, and keep them in Your peace. In Your holy name we ask, Amen.
