Deliverance prayer for the former ###

Kensem

Beloved of All
Heavenly Father, we thank you for the cross and for the fact that your holy Son, Jesus, suffered for all of us who believe. We praise your holy name. Lord, you know the plans you have for us, and your thoughts are far greater than ours. We come to you together in the name of Jesus, believing that you hear our prayers when we agree. Lord, you know this man who rented his flat to me, and he is also your child. Lord, help him to hear your voice concerning your holy plan for his life. Help him to see the clear, unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ. Open his eyes to the false identity he adopted when he entered into sinful relationships or activities and strayed from your narrow path and followed his own desires. Lord break his stony heart and give him courage to follow the narrow path and soften his heart for your glory. I also pray that you will separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household, and that he will recognise the depth of your love, as well as the sinful and hateful relationships he has entered into, in which he is controlled, blackmailed, and where his life may be in danger. Give him understanding to fear your Holy name. Lord, give him understanding to depart from evil and the evil woman in his life. In Jesus' powerful name we ask these things, amen.

We join you together in the name of Jesus and we thank you for bringing this man before the Lord with such love and discernment. We agree with you that our Father hears us when we agree together in prayer, for Jesus said in Matthew 18:19 that if two of us agree on earth concerning anything that we ask, it will be done for our Father who is in heaven. We also rejoice that you have come in the name of Jesus, for there is no other name by which we have access to the Father and it is only through Him that we are saved and delivered, as it is written in John 14:6 and Acts 4:12.

We hear your burden for this man who rented his flat to you. You rightly call him a child of God who has strayed, and we share your desire to see him restored to the narrow path. The Lord indeed knows the plans He has for him, plans for peace and not for evil, to give him hope and a future in Jeremiah 29:11, and His thoughts and ways are far higher than ours in Isaiah 55:8-9. When a believer turns aside to follow his own desires and enters into sinful relationships or activities, he can take on a false identity that is contrary to who he is in Christ. Scripture tells us in 2 Corinthians 5:17 that if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation, the old things have passed away, behold all things have become new, and in 1 Corinthians 6:9-11 we are reminded that the sexually immoral, adulterers, and those practicing homosexuality will not inherit the kingdom of God, but such were some of you, you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus. This shows us that deliverance requires repentance, turning away from sin and receiving the true identity Christ gives.

You have asked the Lord to break his stony heart and we cling to the promise in Ezekiel 36:26 that God will take away the stony heart out of our flesh and give us a heart of flesh, and to soften his heart so he may have courage to walk the narrow way. Jesus taught in Matthew 7:13-14 that narrow is the gate and restricted is the way that leads to life and few are those who find it, and it takes courage and the fear of the Lord to depart from evil. In Proverbs 9:10 we read that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and in Proverbs 3:7 we are told do not be wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and depart from evil. We also pray with you that he will be separated from ungodly influences, even those in his own household, for we are warned in Psalm 1:1 how blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked and in 1 Corinthians 15:33 that evil companionships corrupt good morals, and in 2 Corinthians 6:14 not to be unequally yoked with unbelievers.

We must speak clearly about the sinful and hateful relationships you describe where he is controlled, blackmailed, and even in danger, and about the evil woman in his life. Any sexual relationship outside of biblical marriage between one man and one woman is fornication or adultery and is sin before God, and homosexual behavior is also forbidden and immoral before God. God calls all such immorality sin and commands us to flee it in 1 Corinthians 6:18 and to let marriage be held in honor among all and the marriage bed be undefiled in Hebrews 13:4. A relationship marked by control, manipulation, blackmail and fear is not love, for love does not behave in such a way, and God desires to set him free from that bondage. Jesus said in John 8:36 if therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed, and in James 4:7 we are told to be subject to God, resist the devil and he will flee from us. If his life is in danger we also ask for the Lord's protection, for He is our refuge and fortress in Psalm 91:1-2.

We pray together now for his deliverance.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the cross and for Your holy Son Jesus who suffered for all of us who believe, and we praise Your holy name. Lord, we lift this man to You, You know him by name and You know the plans You have for his life. Open his eyes to see the clear and unmistakable truth about his identity in Christ, that he is not what his sin has made him but what Your grace can make him. Break his stony heart and give him a heart of flesh that fears Your holy name and hates evil. Give him godly sorrow that leads to repentance and grant him courage to leave the broad way and to follow the narrow path that leads to life. Lord, convict him deeply of the false identity he adopted and of every sinful relationship and activity by which he has strayed, and wash him and cleanse him through the blood of Jesus as we confess our sins He is faithful and righteous to forgive us in 1 John 1:9. Separate him from every ungodly influence, including those in his household, and deliver him from the controlling, blackmailing and hateful entanglements that endanger his life. Give him understanding to depart from evil and from the evil woman in his life, and set him completely free from fornication, adultery, and every form of sexual immorality that is outside Your design for marriage. Place godly people around him who will speak truth in love and lead him toward holiness, and if it is Your will for him to marry, lead him to a godly spouse and a marriage that honors You, for Your design is for a lifelong commitment between a man and a woman. Protect him physically and spiritually and let him know the depth of Your love that casts out fear. We ask this in the powerful and only saving name of Jesus Christ our Lord, amen.

We encourage you to continue to pray fervently for him and to show him the love of Christ while not condoning his sin. Speak the truth in love, share the gospel, and keep clear boundaries as you have opportunity. Trust that God is able to deliver and to restore, for with God all things are possible in Matthew 19:26. We will continue to stand with you in prayer that he will humble himself, repent, and walk in newness of life.

We were moved reading your prayer for this man. You knew him first as your landlord, and now you are carrying him before the Lord with real compassion, asking not just for circumstances to change but for his heart to be softened and his eyes to be opened to who he is in Christ.

That is a loving way to intercede. When someone has become entangled in controlling or harmful relationships, what he most needs is to come to know his true identity as God's child and to experience God's love as more real and more secure than the false identities and attachments that have held him. Your prayer for him to hear God's voice, to recognize what is harming him, and to find courage to step away is exactly that kind of prayer.

We join you in asking for his safety and for wisdom for you as you pray. Since you are no longer in that rental relationship, one of the kindest things you can do is keep lifting him up consistently while keeping healthy boundaries, trusting the Holy Spirit to do the work of conviction that only He can do. If you do have appropriate contact, simply remaining a steady, respectful presence and, when welcome, encouraging him toward a trusted pastor or mature believer for support can be a help.

Father, we bring this man before You and ask You to protect him, to soften his heart toward You, to show him Your love and truth in a way he can understand, and to give him courage and wisdom to step away from what is harming him and toward Your narrow path. Guide him to safe, godly help and give our friend peace as he continues to pray. In Jesus' name, amen.

We join with you in prayer before the throne of grace, thanking God for the cross where His holy Son suffered as the great Substitute for all who will look to Him and live.

We have brought this man before the Lord with you, asking that the God who can deal in love with souls when the soil slips from under their feet and they are ready to dash into the pit that is bottomless, would come in even now and rescue him to the praise of the glory of His grace. Our prayer is that word from Job would be fulfilled in his life, Deliver him from going down to the pit, for a ransom has been found.

We pray that he may hear the simple gospel call, Look unto Me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, for I am God, and there is none else. Not to forms or feelings or works, but to look out of himself and away from himself to what Christ has done. That looking to Christ means trusting in His one great sacrifice, who bore our sins in His own body on the tree, so that for all who truly trust Him there is no condemnation forever. In the night, when deep sleep falls upon men, God opens the ears of men and seals their instruction, that He may withdraw man from his purpose and hide pride from man, and we ask the Lord to do this gracious work in him.

We ask that the Lord would give him a true repentance, not a superficial repentance that only affects the surface and comes from terror alone and withers in a night, but that repentance which gives God glory and is the fruit of divine grace. For faith and repentance are inseparable companions. The repentance that saves is consistent with faith in Christ, the repentance which purges the soul from dead works while faith fills the soul with living works, and we pray Christ Himself would work this repentance in him by His Holy Spirit through belief of the truth.

We pray with you that He who has delivered us from the power of darkness would deliver him also. That fascinating power of sin and of the prince of the power of the air would be broken, and that he would be taught the mischief that comes from loving the world and following his own desires. We ask the Lord to break the stony heart and give a heart of flesh, to soften it and give courage to follow the narrow path, to show him his true identity in Christ as a new creation, and to reveal the false identity he adopted when he strayed from that path.

We ask the Lord, according to His holy will, to separate him from ungodly influences, including those in his household who would control or harm him, and to grant him understanding to fear the holy name of the Lord and to depart from evil. We pray for his protection where his life may be in danger, but above all for the deliverance of his soul, that he would hate sin because it slew Christ, and turn from it to live as the holy God would have him live. For salvation is in Christ alone, and holiness is found in walking in His ways, where marriage is honored as the lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and all that belongs to it is kept within that covenant.

May the Lord keep you in joyful faith as you intercede, and make you communicative of His works. Continue to look to Christ yourself and to declare what He has done, trusting that He who predetermined the sacrifice of His Son is both sovereign and good, and that He hears the prayers of those who agree together in the name of Jesus. We leave this dear one in the hands of Him who alone can loose the bound and lift up those who are bowed down and could in no wise lift themselves up.

Father, have mercy for Christ's sake, grant repentance and remission of sins, and bring this soul from darkness into the kingdom of Thy dear Son, that he may live and declare the works of the Lord. Amen.
