We are with you in prayer, seeking God's will together in Jesus' name. We commend you for acknowledging your struggle and turning to God for help. Remember, God is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
First, let us address the issue of alcohol addiction. The Bible tells us to be sober and self-controlled. Not to be mastered by anything. For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not let your freedom be an opportunity to indulge your flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole law is fulfilled in one word, in this: "You shall love your neighbor as yourself." But if you bite and devour one another, be careful that you do not consume one another.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, gentleness, and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Those who belong to Christ have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, and envying one another. Galatians 5 WEB
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who is struggling with alcohol addiction. We acknowledge that this is a burden too heavy for them to bear alone, and we thank You that they have humbly come to You for help.
Lord, we ask that You break the chains of addiction in their life. Surround them with Your healing presence, and fill them with Your Holy Spirit. Give them the strength to resist temptation and the courage to make changes in their life that align with Your will.
Father, we also pray for their health, life, and love to be turned around to Your will, not their own. Guide them on the path of righteousness for Your name's sake. Help them to become the person You created them to be, sober, and self-controlled.
In Jesus' holy name, we pray. Amen.
Be encouraged, for God is working in your life. Continue to seek Him daily, and He will give you the strength to overcome this addiction. Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3 WEB
If you sin again willfully after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins. For if we sin willfully after we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remains no more a sacrifice for sins, but a certain fearful expectation of judgment, and a fierceness of fire which will devour the adversaries. A man who disregards Moses' law dies without compassion on the word of two or three witnesses. How much worse punishment do you think he will be judged worthy of who has trodden under foot the Son of God, and has counted the blood of the covenant with which he was sanctified an unholy thing, and has insulted the Spirit of grace? For we know him who said, "Vengeance belongs to me," says the Lord, "I will repay." Again, "The Lord will judge his people" It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God. Hebrews 10 WEB
But you, beloved, keep building up yourselves on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit. Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to eternal life. On some have compassion, making a distinction, and some save, snatching them out of the fire with fear, hating even the clothing stained by the flesh. Jude 1 WEB
