Deliverance from addiction

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I need prayers for deliverance from addiction to musterbation, addiction to porn graph and addiction to gambling, I have prayed but I can't stop, I fasted but I still can't stop. Pray for my total deliverance 🙏

We hear your cry for freedom, and we stand with you in this battle, lifting you up before the throne of grace where mercy and help are found in time of need. The chains of addiction are heavy, and we acknowledge the struggle you face—masturbation, pornography, and gambling are snares that entangle the soul, distort God’s design for purity, and rob you of the peace and purpose He intends for you. But take heart, for the Lord is mighty to save, and His power is made perfect in our weakness.

First, we must address the root of these struggles with truth and love. The Bible warns us in 1 Corinthians 6:18-20, *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* Masturbation, especially when coupled with pornography, is a form of sexual immorality that defiles the temple of the Holy Spirit. It feeds lust, which Jesus equates with adultery in the heart (Matthew 5:28), and it trains the mind to objectify others rather than honor them as image-bearers of God. Gambling, too, is a sin of greed and idolatry, as it places trust in chance rather than in God’s provision (1 Timothy 6:10, Ephesians 5:5). These are not merely "bad habits"—they are strongholds that must be torn down by the power of the Holy Spirit.

You have already taken important steps by praying and fasting, but we must also examine whether there are areas where you may be relying on your own strength rather than surrendering fully to Christ. In John 15:5, Jesus says, *"I am the vine. You are the branches. He who remains in me, and I in him, the same bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."* Deliverance is not found in our own efforts alone but in abiding in Christ, confessing our sins, and allowing His Spirit to renew our minds. Have you confessed these sins specifically to the Lord and to a trusted, godly brother or sister in Christ who can hold you accountable? James 5:16 tells us, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."*

We also want to gently but firmly rebuke the enemy’s lies that may be whispering to you—lies like *"You’ll never change,"* *"God is tired of your failures,"* or *"This is just who you are."* These are not from the Lord. Romans 8:1 declares, *"There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit."* The devil seeks to keep you in bondage, but Jesus came to set the captives free (Luke 4:18). You are not defined by your struggles but by the blood of Christ, which has already purchased your victory.

Now, let us pray together for your total deliverance, not in our own strength, but in the name of Jesus, who alone has the power to break every chain:

*"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Name above all names, the One who has conquered sin and death. We lift up our brother who is bound by the chains of addiction—masturbation, pornography, and gambling. Lord, we confess that these sins have taken hold of his mind, body, and spirit, but we declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17). We ask You to break every stronghold by the power of Your Holy Spirit. Forgive him, Lord, for every time he has given in to these temptations, and cleanse him from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).*

*Father, we plead the blood of Jesus over his eyes, that they may no longer seek out impurity; over his mind, that it may be renewed by Your Word (Romans 12:2); and over his hands, that they may be used for Your glory. We renounce the spirit of lust, the spirit of greed, and the spirit of addiction in Jesus’ name. We command every demonic influence that has gained a foothold through these sins to leave now and never return. You have not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7).*

*Lord, fill him with Your Holy Spirit afresh. Surround him with godly accountability—men who will walk with him, pray with him, and encourage him in the faith. Give him a hunger for Your Word and a hatred for sin. When temptation comes, remind him of Your promise in 1 Corinthians 10:13: ‘No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.’*

*We declare that he is more than a conqueror through Christ who loves him (Romans 8:37). We speak freedom over his life—freedom from shame, freedom from bondage, and freedom to walk in the purpose You have for him. Strengthen him, Lord, in his inner man, that he may stand firm against the schemes of the devil (Ephesians 6:11). May he experience the peace that surpasses all understanding as he rests in Your finished work on the cross.*

*We thank You, Father, that You are faithful to complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). We ask all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen."*

Brother, we want to encourage you with a few practical steps as you walk out this deliverance:

1. **Accountability:** Find at least one or two godly men in your church or Christian community who can walk with you in this journey. Share your struggles with them openly and ask them to check in on you regularly. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up."*

2. **Guard Your Heart and Mind:** Install filters and accountability software on all your devices to block access to pornography. Avoid places and situations that tempt you to gamble. Proverbs 4:23 says, *"Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life."*

3. **Renew Your Mind:** Spend time daily in God’s Word, meditating on Scriptures that speak to your identity in Christ and His power to transform you. Memorize verses like Romans 6:12-14: *"Therefore don’t let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. Also, do not present your members to sin as instruments of unrighteousness, but present yourselves to God as alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness to God. For sin will not have dominion over you. For you are not under law, but under grace."*

4. **Flee Temptation:** When temptation comes, do not try to resist it in your own strength. Flee from it immediately, as Joseph did when Potiphar’s wife sought to seduce him ( Genesis 39:12). Call a trusted friend, pray out loud, or redirect your thoughts to something pure and praiseworthy (Philippians 4:8).

5. **Replace the Void:** Often, addictions fill a void or numb pain. Ask the Lord to reveal what emotional or spiritual needs you may be trying to meet through these sins. Is it loneliness? Stress? Boredom? Bring these needs to Jesus, who promises to satisfy the longing soul (Psalm 107:9). Seek out healthy, godly activities—serving in your church, exercising, or spending time in nature—to fill your time and thoughts.

6. **Worship and Prayer:** When you feel weak, turn to worship. Praise shifts our focus from our struggles to God’s greatness. The Psalms are full of cries for deliverance—read them, pray them, and make them your own. Psalm 51 is a powerful prayer of repentance and restoration.

7. **Celebrate Small Victories:** Deliverance is often a process, not an instant event. Celebrate each day you resist temptation as a victory won by the grace of God. Do not grow weary in doing good, for in due season you will reap if you do not give up (Galatians 6:9).

Remember, the battle you are fighting is not against flesh and blood but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). You are not alone in this fight. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in you (Romans 8:11), and He is greater than anything the enemy can throw at you. Keep pressing into Jesus, keep confessing, keep believing, and keep standing on His promises. Your deliverance is coming—do not lose heart!

If you have not yet surrendered your life fully to Jesus Christ, now is the time. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have never confessed Jesus as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to do so today. Romans 10:9 says, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."* Pray this prayer with us:

*"Lord Jesus, I confess that I am a sinner in need of Your grace. I believe that You died on the cross for my sins and rose again from the dead. I repent of my sins and turn away from them. I invite You to come into my heart and be my Lord and Savior. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and give me the power to live for You. Thank You for saving me and setting me free. In Your name I pray, Amen."*

If you prayed that prayer for the first time, we rejoice with you! We encourage you to share this decision with a trusted Christian friend or pastor and to begin reading the Bible daily, starting with the Gospel of John. You are now a child of God, and nothing can separate you from His love (Romans 8:38-39). Your journey to freedom has begun, and we are here to walk with you every step of the way.

We're here for you, brother. We understand the struggle you're facing, and we want you to know that you're not alone. We've been where you are, and we've seen the power of Jesus to break every chain and set the captives free.

First, let's remind ourselves of the truth. In Christ, you are already free. 2 Corinthians 5:17 tells us, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." You are not defined by your struggles, but by the blood of Christ that has already purchased your victory.

Now, let's take some practical steps together:

1. **Accountability**: Find a trusted brother in Christ to confide in. Share your struggles openly and ask them to check in on you regularly. Proverbs 27:17 says, "As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another."

2. **Guard Your Heart and Mind**: Install filters on your devices to block inappropriate content. Avoid places and situations that tempt you. Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life (Proverbs 4:23).

3. **Renew Your Mind**: Spend time daily in God's Word, meditating on verses that speak to your identity in Christ and His power to transform you. Memorize verses like Romans 6:12-14.

4. **Flee Temptation**: When temptation comes, don't try to resist it in your own strength. Flee from it immediately, as Joseph did when Potiphar's wife sought to seduce him ( Genesis 39:12).
