Deliverance from addiction

Ciytown

Disciple of Prayer
I have been struggling with addiction to musterbation since 2012, and I have been struggling with porn addiction for the past 10 years. I'm also addicted to gambling and I lost all my savings and I'm in debt. I feel like I don't control. Pray for my deliverance.

We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in this battle, lifting you up before the throne of grace where mercy and help are found in time of need. Addiction is a heavy chain, but Jesus came to set the captives free, and His power is greater than any bondage. The Word declares, *"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed"* (Luke 4:18). You are not beyond His reach, and your deliverance is possible through Christ.

First, we must address the root of these struggles. Masturbation, pornography, and gambling are not merely bad habits—they are sins that enslave the heart and defile the temple of the Holy Spirit. The apostle Paul warns, *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Pornography distorts God’s design for intimacy, turning what was meant to be sacred within marriage into a selfish and destructive act. Gambling preys on greed and the love of money, which Scripture calls the root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10). These addictions feed the flesh and starve the spirit, leaving you feeling powerless.

But there is hope in repentance and surrender. Jesus did not come to condemn you but to save you (John 3:17). True freedom begins with confessing these sins before God, not as a defeated soul, but as one who believes in His power to break every chain. *"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness"* (1 John 1:9). Repentance is not just feeling sorry—it is turning away from these sins and running toward Christ. You must cut off every source of temptation. If it means installing accountability software, deleting apps, or even getting rid of devices that lead you astray, do it. Jesus said, *"If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna"* (Matthew 5:30). This is not about self-mutilation but about radical obedience to protect your soul.

We also recognize that addiction thrives in isolation. You cannot fight this battle alone. James 5:16 says, *"Confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective."* Seek out a trusted pastor, counselor, or Christian brother who can walk with you, pray with you, and hold you accountable. There is no shame in asking for help—it is a sign of strength, not weakness. The enemy wants you to hide in darkness, but light exposes and destroys his schemes.

For your financial struggles, we must address the spirit of greed and recklessness that gambling has fed. Proverbs 28:22 warns, *"One who has a stingy eye hurries after riches, and doesn’t know that poverty waits for him."* But God is not only a God of deliverance—He is a God of restoration. Joel 2:25 says, *"I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten."* Trust Him to provide wisdom for managing your debts and to open doors for provision as you walk in obedience. Seek godly financial counsel and commit to living within your means, giving generously as the Lord leads, for *"God loves a cheerful giver"* (2 Corinthians 9:7).

Now, we lift you up in prayer:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother who is crying out for deliverance. Lord, You see the chains that have bound him—chains of lust, greed, and addiction. But You are the Chain Breaker, the One who sets the captives free. We declare that where the spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17). In the name of Jesus, we break the power of these addictions over his life. We rebuke the spirit of lust that has fed his pornography addiction, the spirit of greed that has driven his gambling, and the spirit of shame that has kept him in bondage. We plead the blood of Jesus over his mind, body, and spirit, cleansing him from every defilement.

Father, we ask for a fresh infilling of Your Holy Spirit to strengthen him in his weakness. Fill him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give him the courage to flee temptation and the wisdom to guard his heart. Surround him with godly men who will stand with him in prayer and accountability. Lord, we ask for Your supernatural intervention in his finances. Provide for his needs, restore what has been lost, and give him the discipline to steward Your blessings wisely.

We declare that he is not defined by his past or his struggles. In Christ, he is a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). We speak healing over his mind, restoration to his soul, and freedom to his spirit. May he walk in the victory that Christ has already won for him on the cross. We thank You, Lord, for Your faithfulness to complete the good work You have begun in him (Philippians 1:6). In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Do not lose heart, dear brother. The road to freedom is not always easy, but it is worth every step. Every time you choose to resist temptation, you are weakening the enemy’s hold and strengthening your spirit. Galatians 6:9 says, *"Let us not be weary in doing good, for we will reap in due season, if we don’t give up."* You are not fighting for victory—you are fighting from victory. Jesus has already overcome the world (John 16:33), and through Him, you will overcome these addictions. Keep pressing into God’s presence, saturating your mind with His Word, and surrounding yourself with believers who will encourage you. Your deliverance is coming. Your restoration is near. Walk in faith, and do not look back.

We're standing with you, brother, in this battle for freedom. We know it's tough, but remember, Jesus is right there with you, fighting for you. Let's tackle this together.

First, let's acknowledge the root of these struggles. Masturbation, porn, and gambling aren't just bad habits; they're sins that enslave us and defile God's temple in us. But here's the good news: Jesus came to set captives free, and that includes you!

So, let's start by confessing these sins to God. Not as a defeated soul, but as one who believes in His power to break every chain. It's not just about feeling sorry; it's about turning away from these sins and running towards Christ. That might mean cutting off sources of temptation, like deleting apps or even getting rid of devices that lead you astray. It's not about self-mutilation, but about radical obedience to protect your soul.

You can't fight this battle alone. James 5:16 tells us to confess our offenses to one another and pray for each other. So, find a trusted pastor, counselor, or Christian brother to walk with you, pray with you, and hold you accountable. There's no shame in asking for help; it's a sign of strength, not weakness.

For your financial struggles, let's address the spirit of greed and recklessness that gambling has fed. Trust God to provide wisdom for managing your debts and to open doors for provision as you walk in obedience. Seek godly financial counsel and commit to living within your means, giving generously as the Lord leads.
