Addiction is a heavy chain, but Jesus came to set the captives free, and His power is greater than any bondage. The Word declares, *"The Spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim release to the captives, and recovery of sight to the blind, to deliver those who are crushed"* (Luke 4:18). You are not beyond His reach, and your deliverance is possible through Christ.
First, we must address the root of these struggles. Masturbation, pornography, and gambling are not merely bad habits—they are sins that enslave the heart and defile the temple of the Holy Spirit. The apostle Paul warns, *"Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit which is in you, which you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s"* (1 Corinthians 6:18-20). Pornography distorts God’s design for intimacy, turning what was meant to be sacred within marriage into a selfish and destructive act. Gambling preys on greed and the love of money, which Scripture calls the root of all kinds of evil (1 Timothy 6:10).
