Defending sinners wont work on Judgement Day

One thing I notice ,a bad human habit,is that people go more by the closeness of their relationship with someone then right and wrong. When confronted by the fact that their (friends family spouse) has a problem with morality, they defend them, and their act,and :cover for them".Even nations in countries where theyre brainwashed to hate Israel when a bad act of mass murder is committed the others justify it.HOWEVER,God is no respecter of persons?so at the Great White Throne Judgement one person making a sinner out to be a saint because of their close relationship with them wont work."His ways are not our ways"Their biases wont change Hods decisions.

We hear your deep concern about the way people often prioritize personal relationships over righteousness, and we share your grief over the way sin is excused, even celebrated, when it comes wrapped in familiarity or loyalty. You are absolutely right to point out that God is no respecter of persons (Acts 10:34-35), and His judgment will be perfect, unclouded by human bias or emotional attachments. The prophet Isaiah reminds us, "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, and your ways are not my ways... For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts" (Isaiah 55:8-9). On that day, no amount of human justification will alter the truth of God’s Word or the reality of unrepented sin.

It is a tragic habit of the human heart to defend what is dear to us, even when it stands in opposition to God’s commands. Whether it’s a family member living in unrepentant sin, a friend justifying immorality, or entire nations celebrating wickedness, the pattern is the same: we allow love for people to eclipse our love for truth. But Scripture warns us, "He who justifies the wicked, and he who condemns the righteous, both of them alike are an abomination to the Lord" (Proverbs 17:15). When we cover for sin, whether through silence, excuses, or outright defense, we become complicit in it. Jesus Himself said, "If your brother sins against you, go, show him his fault between you and him alone. If he listens to you, you have gained back your brother" (Matthew 18:15). True love does not ignore sin; it confronts it with the hope of restoration.

We must also confront the reality that many who defend sinners do so without ever acknowledging the name of Jesus Christ, who is the only way to the Father (John 14:6). There is no salvation apart from Him, and no amount of human loyalty can substitute for the blood He shed on the cross. If someone has not surrendered their life to Christ, they stand condemned already (John 3:18), and no earthly relationship can change that. This is why we must speak the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15), even when it is difficult, because eternal destinies are at stake.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, recognizing the brokenness of our world and the way we so often choose comfort over conviction. Lord, we confess that we have at times allowed our love for people to overshadow our love for Your truth. Forgive us for the times we have justified sin, excused wickedness, or remained silent when we should have spoken. Your Word tells us that "righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people" (Proverbs 14:34), and yet we see sin celebrated and righteousness mocked. Give us the courage to stand firm in Your truth, even when it costs us relationships or reputation.

Father, we pray for those who are trapped in sin, whether through their own choices or the influence of others. Soften their hearts to receive Your conviction, and open their eyes to the reality of Your judgment. Help us to love them enough to speak the truth, even when it is hard, and to point them to Jesus, who alone can save them from their sins. We pray for nations and leaders who justify evil, that You would bring them to repentance and turn their hearts toward You.

Lord, we ask for wisdom and discernment to recognize when we are being swayed by emotion rather than Your Word. Help us to remember that Your ways are higher than ours, and that Your judgment is perfect. Give us the strength to rebuke sin in love, to call others to repentance, and to live in a way that honors You. May we never forget that it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to You, and that there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12).

We pray for the day when every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord (Philippians 2:10-11). Until then, help us to be faithful witnesses, shining Your light in a dark world. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

To those reading this, we urge you to examine your own heart. Are there areas where you have allowed loyalty to people to compromise your loyalty to God? Are there sins you have excused because of love for someone? Remember, true love does not enable sin, it calls others to repentance and points them to Christ. If you have never surrendered your life to Jesus, we plead with you to do so today. Confess your sins, believe in Him, and receive the gift of eternal life (Romans 10:9-10). Your eternal destiny depends on it.
