Dear God, as I interact with my friend today let all awkwardness fade. Allow us both to be honest, kind, patient, understanding, and connect through our love & faith in the lord Jesus as our savior and know all things work through him. Give us the words, space, comfort, and grace that we share in this friendship. Let our fears diminish. Take our weariness and give the wisdom of our faith without the fear of what you have designed our friendship for. This person means a lot to me, and I want it to be clear and known doubtlessly that I respect, honor, and support them when others speak of them. That I am just as much a friend when not in her presence. That our shared time together is of mutual respect, support, and caution. Please clear any confusions and let us know what is of you. I lift up her every prayer and desire to you as a strong friend in prayer because praying as community in unity is much stronger than praying alone. Dear god reveal to us how strong this friendship is and how it honors you God. No weapons against us should prosper. So please guard me too if I am wrong about this person. I feel that we are a great team, and would love to support and be part of their life in whatever way you see fit God. As a person guiding her and all my friends back to you just as she guides me too. There was an awkward moment. I ask you give me wisdom, a strong mind, the right words, and protection over the truth of it all. And, whatever your will is for the friendship. Awkwardness shouldn't cause confusion. But I wasn't clear either and may have confused her too. We join with you in lifting up this friendship before the Lord and we thank you for bringing it to Him so honestly and with such care for honoring Him and honoring your friend. Your desire for a deep, pure, and honest connection rooted in love and faith in the Lord Jesus as Savior is beautiful and pleases God, for He calls us to love one another sincerely and to build one another up in faith.

We hear your heart to let awkwardness fade and to replace fear and weariness with grace, wisdom, and clear communication. God does not want confusion to linger between brothers and sisters in Christ. As it is written, God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control in 2 Timothy 1:7, and perfect love casts out fear in 1 John 4:18. When we feel weary or anxious about what to say, we are reminded to not be anxious in anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God in Philippians 4:6, and He promises if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him in James 1:5. We also take comfort that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who are called according to his purpose in Romans 8:28.

Your commitment to be the same faithful friend whether in her presence or when others speak of her is godly and reflects true friendship. A friend loves at all times in Proverbs 17:17, and iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another in Proverbs 27:17. Your desire for mutual respect, support, and caution shows maturity. We also affirm your understanding that praying together in unity is powerful, for where two or three are gathered together in my name, there I am in the middle of them in Matthew 18:20.

We want to gently encourage you to guard this friendship with biblical clarity and purity. If this is a friendship between a man and a woman, we encourage you to maintain clear boundaries and to let any deeper feelings be tested against God's will for courtship that seeks marriage to a fellow believer, for we are to pursue relationships that lead toward a lifelong covenant between a man and a woman as God designed. Even in a pure friendship, let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt in Colossians 4:6, and speaking truth with your neighbor in Ephesians 4:25, so that awkward moments do not create confusion but become opportunities for honesty and grace. Continue to put on love which is the bond of perfection and let kindness, humility, patience and forgiveness guide you as described in Colossians 3:12-14.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You together and thank You for this friendship and for the faith You have placed in both hearts. We ask that You let all awkwardness and confusion fade and replace it with Your peace that surpasses all understanding. Give our friend the right words, a strong mind, and a calm and gracious spirit when they interact next. Help them both to be honest, kind, patient, and understanding, and to listen well to one another. Take their weariness and fear and give them rest and wisdom, for You give power to the weak in Isaiah 40:29 and You invite all who are weary to come to You and find rest in Matthew 11:28. Guard their conversations about faith and about dating life, that all would be done in purity and with honor to You, and lead each of them toward a godly spouse if it is Your will for marriage, or toward continued faithful friendship that sharpens them for Your glory. Reveal clearly what is of You and what Your purpose is for this friendship, and protect the truth of that awkward moment from being distorted. We pray that no weapon that is formed against them will prevail in Isaiah 54:17, and that You would guard their hearts if either is misreading the other. Let their time together be marked by mutual respect and support, and let them be known as loyal friends who honor one another both present and absent. Help them to continue to guide one another and all their friends back to You, and to know without doubt that this friendship honors You. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, our only Savior and mediator, amen.

We encourage you to continue to walk in the light with open and gentle communication, to pray together when you can, to study the Word together, and to trust the Lord to make His will clear in His timing. Keep choosing respect and honor, keep being faithful in prayer for her every need and desire, and trust that God will give you both the comfort, space, and grace you have asked for.

Your prayer for a deep, honest and pure friendship rooted in love for the Lord Jesus Christ is itself a pleasing evidence of a sincere heart before God. It is the mark of godly sincerity when a man abhors all pretence and desires to be what he appears to be, and to have his friendship proved true both in presence and in absence, when others speak and when none are watching.

We join you in asking the Lord to take away needless fear and weariness and to give you wisdom, a strong and sober mind, and right words seasoned with grace. True friendship, as Christ Himself shows us, is reciprocal and is kept alive by communion. Persons can hardly maintain friendship if they only see each other now and then without honest converse, and how much more is this true of our friendship with Christ, who proved His love by laying down His life for His friends. He calls us His friends if we do whatsoever He commands us, and obedience is an essential part of that friendship. Whatever He makes plain to you concerning this friendship, seek grace to walk in it with a clear conscience toward God and toward one another.

We pray that the Lord will clear away confusion where there has been awkwardness or want of clarity, and that He will grant you both kind, patient and understanding hearts. May your conversation be marked by mutual respect, support and holy caution, and may it always honor Him.
