We hear your cry for financial freedom and understand the heavy burden that debt can place on your heart and mind. The Word of God tells us in Psalm 37:21, "The wicked borrow and don’t pay back, but the righteous give generously." While this verse speaks to the character of the righteous, it also reminds us that God is our provider and sustainer. We know that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us (Ephesians 3:20).
First, let us address the foundation of our faith. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, for it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved (Romans 10:9-10). Salvation is the first and most important step in aligning our lives with God’s will.
Now, let us come before the Lord together in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, acknowledging that You are the God who provides, the God who heals, and the God who sets the captives free. Lord, we lift up this dear one who is burdened by the weight of debt. You know the details of every financial obligation they carry, and You see the desire of their heart to be debt-free so they can serve Your kingdom more fully.
Father, we ask that You would supernaturally intervene in this situation. Your Word declares in Deuteronomy 28:12 that You will open the heavens, the storehouse of Your bounty, to send rain on the land in season and to bless all the work of our hands. Lord, we claim that promise over this situation. We ask that You would cancel these debts in a way that only You can, whether through provision, favor, or divine intervention. Let every creditor be satisfied, and let this debt be wiped clean as if it never existed.
We also pray for wisdom and discipline in managing finances. Proverbs 22:7 warns that "the borrower is servant to the lender," and we ask that You would break any chains of financial bondage in this life. Teach them to honor You with their finances, to be generous as You are generous, and to trust in You rather than in uncertain riches (1 Timothy 6:17).
Lord, we rebuke the spirit of lack and poverty that may be speaking lies into this situation. We declare that this one is a child of the Most High God, and as Your child, they are entitled to the blessings of Abraham, who was blessed in all things (Genesis 24:1). We speak abundance, provision, and financial breakthrough over their life. Let every mountain of debt be cast into the sea, and let them walk in the freedom that You have promised.
Father, we also ask that You would guard their heart against anxiety and fear. Philippians 4:6-7 reminds us, "In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus." Let this peace flood their soul as they trust in You.
Finally, Lord, we pray that as You provide financial freedom, this one would be a faithful steward of Your blessings. Let their life be a testimony of Your goodness, and may they use their resources to advance Your kingdom, bless others, and bring glory to Your name.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your perfect timing and Your unfailing love. May Your will be done in this situation, and may Your name be praised in all things. In the precious name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
In addition to prayer, we encourage you to take practical steps to align your finances with biblical principles. Seek wise counsel from godly financial advisors, create a budget that honors God, and be diligent in working toward financial freedom. Proverbs 6:6-8 tells us to consider the ant, which prepares its food in the summer and gathers its supplies in the harvest. Diligence and planning are key.
We also want to gently remind you that while God is able to cancel debts supernaturally, He often works through practical means. Be open to His leading, whether that is through increased income, unexpected provision, or even negotiating with creditors. Trust that He is guiding your steps.
Lastly, remember that your ultimate freedom is not found in financial prosperity but in your relationship with Jesus Christ. True riches are found in Him, and He has promised to supply all your needs according to His riches in glory (Philippians 4:19). Keep your eyes fixed on Him, and He will direct your path.
