Stop Looking at Your Circumstances

"And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose." Romans 8:28

Are you tired of all the turmoil in your life? Are you tired of all your marriage problems that you are facing today? How often are you tempted to throw in the towel and give up on your marriage ever being restored, since the circumstances seem impossible? Do not be afraid. Trust in your Lord. God can bring good out of your afflictions, trials or tribulations that you are going through if you will love the Lord. That is why it's always so helpful for you to memorize specific scriptures when you want to follow the Lord's will and way for your marriage as you stand on the promises of God.

This week I have been reading email which standers have been saying, "I hurt too much. My spouse says that they are happy and never coming home. My spouse is going to Divorce Recovery. I am too wounded and tired to fight any more. When do you just listen to everyone else and give up? What should I do?" I pray that you will learn to "Stop looking at your circumstances!" I learned at the beginning of my stand it was all about the power of God and God's plan for our marriage and family. Let me share a scripture to remind you:

"Have faith in God," Jesus answered. "I tell you the truth, if anyone says to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and does not doubt in his heart but believes that what he says will happen, it will be done for him. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive him, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins." Mark 11:22-25

Bob and I have many family members, close friends, and standers who are going through some very difficult times in each of their lives. I keep praying, but there has not been a breakthrough in their financial, physical, housing or employment problems, yet. What do I do? The Lord reminded me as I was praying in the middle of the night this week:

"Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice. And the God of peace will be with you....I can do everything through him who gives me strength." Philippians 4:4-9,13

This very powerful scripture was given to me twenty-two years ago and when I cry out in the middle of the night for a new word from my Lord, He took me back to one of the most powerful scriptures that was my answer from my Lord. "Do not be anxious about anything!" Paul was writing this letter to the Philippian believers. In fact, Paul was imprisoned, and he was experiencing freedom from all his circumstances and he was being content in all his circumstances!

What you must do is to "Let go and let God" move your mountain of circumstances. Your response is living a life of faith and obedience in what you know you must do. Start the day with your Lord. Put on the Armor of God. Be ready to be obedient to what the Lord wants you to do. Let go and let God deal with your husband or wife and any marriage problems today. Another way of saying this is to lay all your problems at the foot of the Cross and surrender everything to your Lord to handle in His perfect way daily. Then ask the Lord to use you every day in some way to bring glory and honor to Him.

May I take you back to Exodus where Moses was leading the Israelites out of captivity and into the promised land. Unexpectedly, the Egyptians started coming after the Israelites to take them back home into captivity. The Israelites were terrified and became fearful as their circumstances looked hopeless. What did Moses say to them?

"Moses answered the people, "Do not be afraid. Stand firm and you will see the deliverance the LORD will bring you today. The Egyptians you see today you will never see again. The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still." Then the LORD said to Moses, "Why are you crying out to me? Tell the Israelites to move on. Raise your staff and stretch out your hand over the sea to divide the water so that the Israelites can go through the sea on dry ground. I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will go in after them. And I will gain glory through Pharaoh and all his army, through his chariots and his horsemen. The Egyptians will know that I am the LORD when I gain glory through Pharaoh, his chariots and his horsemen. "...During the last watch of the night the LORD looked down from the pillar of fire and cloud at the Egyptian army and threw it into confusion. He made the wheels of their chariots come off so that they had difficulty driving. And the Egyptians said, "Let's get away from the Israelites! The LORD is fighting for them against Egypt." Exodus 14:13-18,24-25

"The Lord is fighting for them!" What a powerful statement. The Egyptians knew that the hand of the Lord was causing miracles to happen as the Lord divided the Red Sea into two walls of water, so the Israelites could walk on dry ground. They knew they could not win. Nothing is too hard for your Lord God to do. Will you believe that for your marriage, your financial problems, for your teenagers' problems and even for your own health problems?

Do not give up on your Lord God! Do not grumble and complain to your Lord about all your circumstances. He knows and sees everything. May you and I never forget the Word of God as we glean wisdom, knowledge and guidance that we need to apply to our daily lives from its pages. May you remember daily to "Rejoice in the LORD always. I will say it again: Rejoice!" Allow Him to fight your daily battles through you praying, letting go and letting God turn your circumstances around to good. You need to believe and deepen your faith, trust and knowledge of God's mighty power to help you direct your every step that He wants you to take.

I pray that you will have a holy fear of disobeying your Lord's commands to what He has spoken to your heart regarding anything such as marriage restoration or a call of ministry on your life. Saying "No" is not going to get rid of your Lord in your life. He will wait and tell you again, and again until you have taken many detour roads of going around your mountain of circumstances several times. What are you to do? Walk in faith, trust and believe your Lord will fight for your spouse, your marriage and for your children daily. Every day put your Lord Jesus Christ first in your life.

Today do not give up on your Lord God. In fact, "Stop looking at your circumstances!" Yes, you may be hurting and bleeding due to the attacks of the enemy, but cry out to your Lord. Choose to surrender your will and way to His divine plan and purpose in your life and marriage. Never give up on what the Lord can do for your marriage or someone else's marriage you are praying for. Pick up your cross and follow your Lord's instructions. He will direct your steps into victory. In the future, you will be able to share the power of your Lord Jesus Christ in restoring and rebuilding your marriage to many others if you will wait for your miracle of marriage restoration!

"He shall say: "Hear, O Israel, today you are going into battle against your enemies. Do not be fainthearted or afraid; do not be terrified or give way to panic before them. For the LORD your God is the one who goes with you to fight for you against your enemies to give you victory." Deuteronomy 20:3-4
