Day 20

Good morning

I have been reading comments and reflecting on my own life and one thing that has come to me is the following verse Judge not least you be judged. We always say that and take it out of context so many time and in so many ways. Let’s look at it in context.

Matthew 7:1-2
Amplified Bible (AMP)
7 Do not judge and criticize and condemn others, so that you may not be judged and criticized and condemned yourselves.
2 For just as you judge and criticize and condemn others, you will be judged and criticized and condemned, and in accordance with the measure you [use to] deal out to others, it will be dealt out again to you.

Jesus is not telling us not to judge but he is warning us about how we judge, because the same way we judge others is the same way we will be judged. It doesn’t mean we will be judged about the same things but in the same manner. i.e. if we are harsh and critical and unrelenting than that is how we will be judged.

I saw a post where everyone was jumping on someone’s husband saying this that and the other. If I was that person, I would have been highly offended. They still love their husband and was only asking for advice on what he had said and if it made sence. But everyone was quick to throw scriptures and say how he was wrong. This man was starting to read the Bible and memorize scriptures if he was to ever have gotten on this site and seen what people were saying I bet he would have given up his search for God.

I have noticed even I do it and get defensive, especially when people tell me I have ground for divorce. I am so busy defending why I stand I don’t acknowledge their point of view. Now don’t get mad at what I am about to say. YES most of us have ground for divorce according to what God allows. (Don’t ask me about the remarriage part not really clear about that) but we are so busy saying that God hates it and defending it we forget to acknowledge that we do have grounds and in some cases so do our spouses. Because we have chosen not to divorce we cannot judge others that have chosen to do so.

I choose to stand because I love my husband and his salvation is important to me. Also because this is who I made a promise with to love for ever and I made that promise to him and God so even If I personally want to give up on my H I never want to give up on God. Besides I’m one of those people who would always wonder Hmmm if I waited just a little longer what would have happened.

But that is my choice and I have decided not to measure everyone according to the choice I have made. We need to stop judging people no matter what it is about and holding them up to our standards. We do not know where their current walk with God is leading them but if we come across as judgmental and not loving we are not only doing that person a disservice we are also doing God a disservice.

God is love pure love, whenever I am asked to describe God in one word I always say faithful, because his love for me never fails. NEVER, even if I reject it.

I am not saying there is no place for judgment, you have to judge (discern spirits, you have to see if what someone is telling you matches what the Word tells you) but as far as judging someones action not your place it is God’s job to do that. Our job, if lead by God, is to loving guide a person or show them why you feel the way you do. Our job is to listen to their point of view. But we are not the judge and jury on people actions. That is why people run from Christians and the church. They feel condemnation.

If you are speaking to someone or about someone and if the table were turned and you know you would feel offended than that is how you will be judged HARSHLY!!!

Our job is to spread the Gospel, The GOOD NEWS. Our job is to show God’s love in everything we do. SO just be careful everyone on how we put our point of view across as not to offend or condemn others. Because Jesus also told is in Mat 18:6 But if anyone causes one of these little ones who trusts in me to lose faith, it would be better for that person to be thrown into the sea with a large millstone tied around the neck.

And I don’t know about the rest of you I treading water, without needing to carry a millstone around as well.

Have a great Day.

Anthonette.
