We rejoice with you in this significant season of your daughter’s life as she steps into college, and we lift her up before the Lord with hearts full of faith. The journey ahead is one of growth—not just academically, but spiritually, emotionally, and relationally—and we trust that God, who has begun this good work in her, will carry it to completion (Philippians 1:6). It is beautiful that you have brought this request in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we boldly approach the throne of grace to receive mercy and find help in our time of need (Hebrews 4:16). There is no other name under heaven by which we are saved, and it is in His authority that we pray with confidence.
The Scriptures remind us that wisdom is the principal thing, and with all our getting, we must get understanding (Proverbs 4:7). We pray that your daughter will be filled with the Spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Christ, that the eyes of her understanding may be enlightened (Ephesians 1:17-18). May she excel in her studies, not for the praise of man, but to glorify God in all things (1 Corinthians 10:31). Let her be diligent, for the hand of the diligent will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor (Proverbs 12:24). We ask the Lord to grant her discipline in her time management, clarity in her mind, and perseverance in her efforts, knowing that her labor in the Lord is never in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58).
Emotionally, college can be a time of great adjustment, and we pray that she will cast all her anxieties on the Lord, for He cares for her (1 Peter 5:7). May she find her identity firmly rooted in Christ, remembering that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14). When loneliness or discouragement knocks at her door, let her turn to the Lord, who is her ever-present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray she will cultivate a habit of daily seeking God’s face through His Word and prayer, for in His presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).
As for friendships, we ask the Lord to surround her with godly companions who will sharpen her as iron sharpens iron (Proverbs 27:17). May she be discerning in her relationships, avoiding those who would lead her astray, and instead finding friends who encourage her in faith and righteousness. Let her be a light on that campus, reflecting Christ in her words and actions, so that others may see her good works and glorify her Father in heaven (Matthew 5:16). We also pray that she will be a blessing to those around her, showing kindness and love, for a friend loves at all times (Proverbs 17:17).
We must also take a moment to encourage you, dear parent, to continue covering your daughter in prayer. The battles she faces are not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces, and your intercession is a powerful weapon in her life (Ephesians 6:12). Trust that the Lord hears your prayers and is faithful to watch over her. Do not fear, for the Lord is with her wherever she goes (Joshua 1:9).
Heavenly Father, we come before You with thankful hearts for this young woman who is stepping into a new chapter of her life. We ask that You go before her, making her paths straight (Proverbs 3:6). Grant her success in her studies, Lord, and let her find favor with her professors and peers. Strengthen her emotionally, Father, and guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). Provide her with friends who will uplift her and walk with her in faith. Most of all, Lord, draw her closer to You in this season. Let her seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness, knowing that all these things will be added to her (Matthew 6:33). Protect her from temptation and the snares of the enemy. May she walk in purity, wisdom, and boldness for Your name’s sake.
We rebuke any spirit of fear, anxiety, or distraction that would seek to hinder her in this season. By the authority of Jesus Christ, we declare that no weapon formed against her will prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Lord, let her be a vessel for Your glory on that campus, and use her mightily for Your purposes. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
