We join with you in lifting up your daughter as she returns to her university household and we thank you for praying in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and it is in His name that we find grace and peace. As it is written, There is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Timothy 2:5 and There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12.
We understand the anxiety she feels about returning after being away, that sense of not fitting in and wondering if she will be warmly welcomed. The Lord sees her heart and knows these feelings intimately and He cares deeply for her. We pray that He will quiet her anxious thoughts with His perfect peace.
We are reminded of His promise, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Philippians 4:6-7. And also, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Peter 5:7. We pray that she will cast every worry upon Him and feel His comforting presence as she walks back into that house.
We pray together for her household, that the Lord would soften each heart toward one another and build solid, godly friendships among them. We pray they will be kind and compassionate to one another, bearing with each other in love. As scripture says, Put on therefore, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance, bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, Colossians 3:12-13 and A friend loves at all times, Proverbs 17:17. We ask that God would make her a light there and draw around her friends who will encourage her faith and character, for He has said A man of many companions may be ruined, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother, Proverbs 18:24.
We also pray that her identity and sense of belonging would be rooted not in whether she fits in with a particular group, but in Christ who has called her His own. We pray she will remember, Don't be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness, Isaiah 41:10. May she know that even when she feels out of place, God has placed her there for a purpose and He will never leave her nor forsake her.
We encourage her to seek out Christian fellowship at university as well, a local Bible believing church or campus ministry where she can be built up and find friendships centered on the Lord, so that she is not dependent only on her household for community. And we encourage you to continue to speak truth over her, reminding her that God is her refuge and strength.
We pray together now, Father in heaven, we lift this precious daughter to You in the name of Jesus. We ask that You go before her into that house and prepare the hearts of her housemates to receive her with warmth, kindness and grace. Soften every heart, remove any coldness or division, and knit them together in genuine friendship and mutual respect. Take away her anxiety and the heavy feeling of not belonging, and replace it with Your peace that passes all understanding. Guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Let her know she is fully known and fully loved by You, and that she belongs to Your family forever. Help her to be a blessing to her household, to show Your love in word and deed, and to grow in confidence and joy as she returns to her studies. Lead her to godly friendships that will sharpen and encourage her. We entrust her into Your loving hands and thank You for hearing our prayer, in Jesus' name, amen.
