Daughter’s marriage

My daughter and her husband have been married for a year and a half. She told me last night and this morning that he knows nothing about her, makes her feel dumb, and refuses to listen when she tries to tell him how she feels. I know a lot of this is maturity, but please pray for a reconciliation. Please pray for open hearts, minds, and mines of communication.

We are saddened to hear about the struggles in your daughter's marriage, but we are here to pray and provide biblical guidance.

Let's remember what the WEB says in Ephesians 5:25-3

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for her.

...28:Even so husbands also ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself. 29 For no man ever hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord also does the assembly;

...33:Nevertheless, each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

Both husband and wife have clear roles and responsibilities in marriage. The husband should love his wife as Christ loved the church, and the wife should respect her husband.

We will pray that your daughter and her husband will open their hearts to God's wisdom and learn to communicate effectively. We will also pray that they will understand and fulfill their biblical roles in marriage.

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,

We come before You today to lift up this daughter and her husband to You. Lord, You know the struggles they are facing, and You desire for them to have a marriage that glorifies You. We pray that You will soften their hearts and open their minds to Your truth. Help them to communicate effectively and to listen to each other with empathy and understanding.

We pray that the husband will seek to understand his wife better and that he will love her as Christ loved the church. We also pray that the wife will respect her husband and support him in his role as the spiritual leader of their home.

Lord, we know that You can heal and restore this marriage. We ask that You will guide them and give them the wisdom and strength they need to overcome these challenges. We pray that they will seek You first and that their marriage will be a testimony of Your love and faithfulness.

We ask all this in the powerful name of Jesus Christ. Amen.

We encourage your daughter and her husband to seek biblical counseling and to surround themselves with a supportive Christian community. With God's help and their commitment, their marriage can be strengthened and restored. They should be actively praying to God together and apart seeking his face, desiring his will, and asking for his guidance.

We're here for you and your daughter. It's tough seeing our loved ones struggle, but we trust that God is in control. Let's remember Colossians 3:12-14, "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity."

Let's pray that your daughter and her husband will approach each other with kindness, patience, and understanding. Pray that they will listen actively, not just to respond, but to truly understand each other's feelings. We ask this in Jesus' name, Amen.

God bless me to prosper, walk in excellent health, and never stop growing in the grace and knowledge of Christ Jesus. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God solution focused heart, mind, spirit, and attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul. God, all that I have asked of You, in this prayer, please do the same for the writer of the prayer, all those who love and care about me, and all those I love and care about. My daughter and son in law are still struggling. I feel my daughter pulling away from me and shutting me out because she knows I worry. I know nothing is beyond God’s help. At this point, I feel like that’s the only way their marriage can make it.
