Daughter who abandoned her family, relatives and common friends

Anonymous

Beloved of All
Please pray for our daughter to soften her heart and to forgive whatever she thinks we have done wrong. We raised her to the best of our ability. We were patient and forgiving during her rebellious teenage years. She became an excellent nurse when she went to universities but money became her god. She stayed away from all of us for three years now and got married without any of her family present. Her husband hates us and she chose to be with him and left her family. I pray that she soften her heart and come back to us.

We grieve with you over the pain of your daughter’s estrangement, and we lift this burden before the Lord, knowing that He alone can soften hearts and restore what is broken. The Scriptures remind us in **Proverbs 22:6**, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* You have labored faithfully in raising her, and though she has strayed, we trust that the seeds of truth planted in her youth will one day bear fruit. Yet we also know that each person must choose their own path, and her choices now reveal a heart that has turned from the family—and more deeply, from the Lord.

The love of money and the influence of an unbelieving spouse have led her away, and we must acknowledge that these are spiritual battles. **1 Timothy 6:10** warns, *"For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some have been led astray from the faith in their greed, and have pierced themselves through with many sorrows."* Her marriage, entered without the blessing of family or the Lord, is built on shaky ground, and we pray that God would expose the emptiness of worldly pursuits and the deception of a husband who fosters division. **2 Corinthians 6:14** asks, *"Don’t be unequally yoked with unbelievers, for what fellowship has righteousness with unrighteousness? What communion has light with darkness?"* If her husband is not a believer, this union will continue to pull her further from truth unless the Lord intervenes.

Yet we do not lose hope, for our God is mighty to save. **Ezekiel 36:26** promises, *"I will also give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit within you. I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you a heart of flesh."* We pray that the Holy Spirit would convict her of her rebellion—not only against you, but against the Lord Himself. May she come to see that her anger, her pride, and her love of money are idols that cannot satisfy. May she remember the love of her family and the God who created her, and may she repent of her hardness of heart.

We also pray for you, dear parents, that the Lord would sustain you in this season of sorrow. **Psalm 34:18** assures us, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* Do not let bitterness take root in your own hearts, but continue to forgive, to pray, and to trust that God’s timing is perfect. Your daughter’s return may not come as quickly as you desire, but we ask the Lord to prepare the way—whether through conviction, circumstances, or even the failure of her current path—to bring her back to Him first, and then to you.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with broken hearts, lifting up this daughter who has turned away from her family and, we fear, from You. Lord, You see the pain of these parents who have loved her, prayed for her, and longed for her return. We ask that You would break the hardness of her heart, that You would expose the emptiness of her pursuit of money and the deception of her marriage if it is not founded on You. Convict her, O God, of her rebellion, and draw her back to Yourself with cords of lovingkindness.

If her husband is leading her astray, we pray that You would either save him or remove his influence from her life. Do not let her be destroyed by the choices she has made, but bring her to repentance. Restore to her a right mind, a tender heart, and a desire for reconciliation—first with You, and then with her family.

Strengthen these parents, Lord. Comfort them in their grief and give them patience to wait on You. Help them to forgive, to trust, and to continue praying without ceasing. Let them see Your hand at work in this situation, even if the answer tarries.

We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Redeemer and Restorer, the One who can turn hearts of stone to flesh. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in this family’s story. Amen.

We've been thinking about you and your daughter all day. It's hard to understand why she's stayed away for so long, but we're here to lift you up in prayer. We believe that God is still at work in her life, even if it doesn't seem like it right now.

We've been reminded of the story of the prodigal son in Luke 15. He left his father's house, squandered his inheritance, and ended up in a pig pen. But his father never stopped loving him, never stopped waiting for him. When the son finally came to his senses and returned home, his father ran to him, embraced him, and threw a celebration. That's the kind of love God has for your daughter, and it's the kind of love we want to encourage you to keep showing her.

So, let's pray together:

Dear Heavenly Father, we come to You today with heavy hearts. We lift up our daughter, who has wandered far from home and from You. Lord, we know that You love her even more than we do. We ask that You would draw her heart to You, that You would make Your presence known to her in a powerful way. Convict her of her rebellion, but also remind her of Your unfailing love.

Help her to see the emptiness of her current pursuits and the deception of her husband's influence, if that's the case. Give her a desire to come home, to be reconciled to You and to us. We trust that You are working in her life, even if we can't see it yet.

Strengthen these parents, Lord. Give them the patience to wait on You, the forgiveness to let go of any bitterness, and the trust to believe that You are at work. Help them to continue praying without ceasing, knowing that You hear their cries and see their tears.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
