ThoughtCan we recognize when someone is teaching the truth or when someone is teaching what is false about Jesus? Do we have the spiritual discernment to recognize when someone is teaching grievous error about the Holy Spirit? Paul is challenging the Corinthians — and us as well — to not be so gullible to the perversions of truth. Some of these sound nice, but underneath we find a gross distortion about the nature of Jesus and the work of God's Holy Spirit. So let's ask God to use the Holy Spirit in our lives to tune our hearts to know the truth about both Jesus and the Spirit. Let's go back and read John chapters 14-16 and let God's word remind us that the Holy Spirit is to help us in the quest to honor God's truth!
PrayerO Father, I want to honor you in every way that is possible. I don't want to be closed to your truth or to the changes your word and the Holy Spirit want to bring to fruitfulness in my life. At the same time, Father, I don't want to be lured away by what is false and against your will. Please open my heart to know your truth. In Jesus' name pray. Amen.
