Scripture: James 4:7

"Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you" KJV

Lions and Tigers are treacherous beasts and often attack when the trainer's eyes are turned away and distracted. One never knows when a wild animal will spring at their keeper!

A wild animal trainer needs great courage to be successful. I've heard of animal trainers saying that the secret of handling lions, tigers and the like is to keep them constantly afraid of you. The instant a wild beast gets over their fear --- they attack.

The analogy with Satan is unmistakable. He is always seeking to attack when I am distracted, my eyes are turned away or my defenses are down.

The good news is Satan is held in check with great courage just like the animal trainer. My courage is reflected by the James 4:7 scripture:

1. Submitting myself to God

2. Resisting the devil

As I keep my eyes on Jesus and concentrate on HIS word I am constantly building my defenses and walking in HIS righteousness. HIS righteousness gives me greater courage than a Lion or Tiger trainer and keeps the beasts of this world subdued.
