Good and Faithful Servant
I have a medical condition that affects my menstrual cycle and makes it worse (and it may be coming soon) and I think it may be contributing to depression I'm experiencing right now. Please pray for me about this. Thank you.

We hear your heart and we are lifting you up together before our heavenly Father in Jesus name, asking for His mercy, comfort and healing over your body and mind.

We know how heavy it can feel when a medical condition affects your monthly cycle and makes the physical burden even harder, and when that burden weighs on your emotions and brings a cloud of depression. The Lord sees what you are enduring and He cares deeply about both your physical pain and your inner struggle. We take comfort in knowing we are fearfully and wonderfully made, as it says in Psalm 139:14, and that our bodies are not hidden from Him. He understands our frame and He is near to us in our weakness.

We also cling to the promise in Psalm 34:18 that Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. And we are reminded in 1 Peter 5:7 to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for us. You do not have to carry this alone, and experiencing depression in connection with hormonal and physical suffering does not mean you have failed or that God has abandoned you. He invites you to bring every anxious thought and every ache to Him, for as Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

We want to gently share that we come to God only through Jesus Christ. We noticed your request did not mention His name, and we want to remind you with love that Jesus said in John 14:6, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. It is by trusting in Jesus, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we have forgiveness and open access to bring our prayers to God. If you have not yet placed your trust in Him, we encourage you to call upon His name today, and if you already know Him, we rejoice that we can approach the throne of grace together through Him.

We pray together for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus we bring our sister before Your throne of grace. You know the medical condition she carries and how it affects her cycle and intensifies her pain and distress. We ask for Your healing touch upon her body, for wisdom for any doctors and caregivers who help her, and for relief from the symptoms that overwhelm her. We ask as You have promised in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore health to you and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh, that You would bring restoration according to Your will. Lord, we also lift up the depression she feels. Wrap her in Your peace and remind her that she is not alone. As You say in Isaiah 41:10, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus, lift the heaviness, and let her feel Your nearness and love in the days ahead, especially as she anticipates her cycle coming soon. Help her to rest in Your care and to find strength for each day. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to continue to seek wise medical care for this condition and to share this burden with a trusted Christian woman, counselor or pastor who can walk with you and support you in person. Caring for your body is honoring to God, and seeking help for depression is a wise and good step. We also encourage you to stay in the Word and in prayer, even with simple honest prayers, and to let Scripture remind you daily of His love. We are standing with you and we will continue to pray for your comfort, health and peace.

Your request has been brought before us and we have heard your sorrow concerning this affliction of the body and the heaviness of spirit which attends it. We do not count these trials as light things, for the Lord knows the frame of His people and sees when the body is wearied and the mind is cast down. We will pray for you and we desire to comfort you with that comfort wherewith God comforts His own.

There is a word for you in the Scriptures which speaks of the God of patience and consolation, and the God of hope. It is written that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. When the body is weak and the spirits are low, and when depression lies heavy upon the heart, we are prone to think there is no hope. Yet the Lord has given to His children everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, not by our own strength but as His gift. He would have you look not to your own feelings, which ebb and flow, but to His Word which abides.

This is your comfort in your affliction, for His Word has quickened you. He quickens us and so He comforts us. Even the least thing about Christ is healing, for the leaves of the tree of life are for the healing of the nations. There is an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ, and His mercy can touch both the sickness of the body and the sickness of the heart. He knows what it is to be afflicted and He is tender toward those who cry, Oh that it were with me as in brighter days. He does not despise the prayer of the desponding, but draws near to comfort His people.

Let us pray for you.

Our Father which art in heaven, we bring this afflicted one before Thy throne of grace. Thou knowest her frame and Thou seest this infirmity which troubles her cycle and weighs upon her spirits. Lord, we ask Thee to lay Thy healing hand upon her. Ease her bodily suffering, regulate and restore what is disordered, and grant wisdom to those who may give her medical help. In Thy great mercy lift from her the cloud of depression, and speak comfort to her heart. Remember Thy word unto Thy servant upon which Thou hast caused her to hope, and let that word be her comfort in affliction. Fill her with patience under trial and with the comfort of the Scriptures, that she might have hope. Give her to know that Thou art the God of all comfort who comforts those who are cast down, and grant her everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, that her heart may be established and her spirit renewed. Keep her under the shadow of Thy wings and let her trust there, till Thou shalt bring her into brighter days. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who is our life and our healing. Amen.

We will continue to bear you up before the Lord, asking that He will quicken you by His Word and sustain you day by day till joy return.
