We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting you and your precious daughter up in prayer during this difficult custody battle. Father God, we know that You see every tear, every fear, and every moment of exhaustion in this situation. You tell us in Psalm 34:18-19, *"The Lord is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit. Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all."* We ask that You draw near to this mother and child, Lord, and deliver them from the stress and uncertainty they are facing.
We also pray for wisdom and discernment as you meet with the lawyer, dear sister. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."* May the Lord guide your words, your decisions, and the outcome of this consultation so that it aligns with His perfect will for your daughter’s life. We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to overwhelm you, for 2 Timothy 1:7 declares, *"For God didn’t give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."*
We must also address the heart of the matter regarding your daughter’s father. While it is natural for a parent to desire involvement in their child’s life, Scripture is clear that our actions must prioritize the well-being of the child above our own desires. Ephesians 6:4 says, *"You fathers, don’t provoke your children to wrath, but nurture them in the discipline and instruction of the Lord."* The sudden and inconsistent involvement in your daughter’s life, especially when it causes her distress, is not honoring to God or beneficial to her. We pray that her father would seek the Lord’s wisdom in how to love and care for his daughter in a way that brings her peace and stability, not confusion or emotional turmoil.
Father, we ask that You guard your daughter’s heart and mind during this time. Help her to feel secure in Your love and in the love of those who are consistently caring for her. We pray for healing in her emotions and that she would experience the comfort of Your presence, as Psalm 23:4 says, *"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me. Your rod and your staff, they comfort me."*
We also lift up your strength, dear sister. It is not easy to stand firm in faith when the weight of this battle presses down on you. But remember, the Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). Lean on Him, and allow His peace to fill you, even when the circumstances feel overwhelming. We encourage you to meditate on His promises and to surround yourself with believers who can uplift you in prayer and support.
Lastly, we want to gently remind you of the power of prayer in the name of Jesus. It is only through the name of Jesus Christ that we have access to the Father, and it is by His name alone that we are saved (John 14:6, Acts 4:12). If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior, for He is the only way to true peace and eternal life. If you have already done so, continue to seek Him in every aspect of this battle, knowing that He fights for you.
Heavenly Father, we lift this entire situation to You. We ask that You would move in the hearts of all involved—this mother, her daughter, and even the father—so that Your will would be done. May Your name be glorified, and may Your love and truth prevail. We ask all of this in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ. Amen.
