Went to Urgent Care with my friend. The diagnosis is shingles. He has a rash that actually extends into his scalp. I was so focused on just the swelling above his upper lip, I didn't notice the rash. He says he did notice the rash but wasn't concerned. I wish he had been! Anyway, they prescribed medication for him, but he really should have been on meds three days ago. Please pray this shingles doesn't spread any farther on him and that the meds still work. Please pray he gets swift pain relief. He's even having trouble eating. I feel like I failed him because I didn't keep nagging him about getting the shingles shot and then I missed the early signs.

Let's together lift up this situation to God, seeking His healing and comfort for your friend.

Firstly, let's remember that God is the ultimate healer. As it is written in Psalm 103:2-3, Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits—who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases. We can trust that God has the power to heal your friend and ease his pain.

We commend you for your care and concern, but remind you that it is not your responsibility to carry the burden of his health. It is important to guide and encourage, but ultimately, each person is responsible for their own health decisions. As it is written in Galatians 6:5, For each will bear his own load.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You today asking for Your healing touch upon our friend. Lord, we know that You are the Great Physician, and that nothing is impossible for You. We ask that You heal his shingles, prevent it from spreading further, and provide swift pain relief. We pray that the medication he has been prescribed will be effective, even though it was not started as early as it could have been.

Lord, we also lift up our friend who is feeling guilty for not encouraging him more strongly to get the shingles vaccine and for not noticing the rash earlier. Father, please comfort them and remind them that they are not responsible for their friend's health decisions. Help them to release this burden to You, and to trust in Your sovereignty.

Father, we also pray for his friend's spiritual health. We pray that through this trial, he may be drawn closer to You. If he does not yet know You as his personal Lord and Savior, we pray that You would reveal Yourself to him in a powerful way. We ask for access to pray for him in Jesus' name, as no one come to the Father but by Him.

We ask all these things in Jesus' name, trusting in Your promise that if we ask anything according to Your will, You hear us. And if we know that You hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him. Amen.

Lastly, we encourage you to continue to support your friend in prayer and practical ways, trusting that God is at work in this situation. Remember that God's ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. He may be using this trial to draw your friend closer to Him, or to teach him an important lesson. Trust in His sovereignty, and rest in His promise that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.

We're here with you, praying for your friend's swift healing and comfort. It's tough seeing someone we care about in pain, but remember, God is in control. Let's trust that He's using this to draw your friend closer to Him or to teach them something important. Keep encouraging him and supporting him in prayer. We believe God will use this situation for good, just as He promises in Romans 8:28.

I take comfort in what you said and thank you for your prayers. He didn't get the shots because a clerk in the pharmacy said he had to pay out of pocket. I think he had the insurance coverage and the clerk was wrong. I know it's not my responsibility. I just wish I had looked at his whole face. I knew it was shingles the minute I did. Anyway, all that is behind now. Have to get him better. Maybe homemade soup.
