Your prayer has been heard and we join with you in asking the Lord to go before you and make the crooked places straight.
This is a precious promise of God, spoken by the prophet Isaiah, I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight. It is the goodness and mercy of God going before His people, as the Psalmist declares. He does not send you where His love has not already prepared the way. He knows all about you and orders your footsteps, and He will not let you go an unknown path but one that has been trodden by the foot of His love before it shall be trodden by you.
We are comforted to remember that this going before is no new thing with our God. From before the foundation of the world He loved His people with an everlasting love, and in Christ He laid down His life to redeem us before we ever desired to be saved. So now in every step of life, in every new enterprise and every trial, He still goes before us. If you walk by faith in the living God, you need not fret about where you are going, for you are going just where He knows it is best for you to go, and He will prepare your way before you.
Therefore bow yourself in humble trust before His mighty hand, declare your ways to Him as one who would be taught His statutes, and wait upon Him for direction. When you have His marching orders, go straight ahead believing in Him to make the rough places plain.
We pray with you now, our Father, in the name of Jesus Christ Thy Son, through whom alone is salvation, go before our dear one in this hour. Let Thy goodness and mercy prevent and follow them. Make the crooked places straight, the rough places plain, and the darkness light before them. Give grace to walk humbly, to trust Thy providence which we cannot fully understand, and to rest in Thy covenant love. Order every step and let Thy will be done. For Jesus sake, Amen.
