Crackdown On Cartoons.

I have not always been such a strict mother when dealing with what my children view on television. But due to the content getting so bad on cartoons I am starting to wake up and realize some of the cartoons they are airing are only a disguise to get children away from what the truth really is. I read an article today about the cartoon "Family Guy". This week's episode was pulled due to the violent content in light of the school shootings that recently happened. Well, the episode was called "Mary, Jesus and Joseph" and one of the characters on the show tells his "own version" of the nativity. "Family Guy" is a cartoon very well known for its mocking of Jesus so I hate to imagine what the character's version of the nativity really would have said had it been allowed to air. I have only educated myself as a parent about this show recently as I have to do these days about most things and I have come to the conclusion that they are targeting children in the form of a cartoon. I do know some parents allow their children to watch it as my daughter recently came home from school talking about the "Stewie" shirt her friend was wearing that day. Stewie is a character on that show who is a baby. He has a lifelong hatred for his mother and is always thinking of ways to kill her on the show. I have never allowed my kids to watch this show, they only know what they hear from their friends. When I even see the commercial for it I turn it off it is so disgusting to me. My kids do watch Spongebob Squarepants but I am going to put a stop to that one as well due to the fact that the characters have started to pray to "Neptune" at times and do other gross things. I grew up with Tom and Jerry which my kids have watched, but there was a newer episode that aired recently that showed the characters praying to a satanic being. No more Tom and Jerry for my kids and no more Cartoon Network for them as a great percentage of the programming airing on it show spells being performed and filth coming out of characters' mouths. I have to crackdown now! I'm cancelling our cable and buying them Christian DVDs to watch so I can know what is going into their minds. Wake up like I just did- they are trying to corrupt our children in the worst way and I think it is sickening! My friend told me recently his opinion- they are trying to make Christians the enemy and are using our children against us. I agree with what he said. I am making a change and an important one. My children might not like it at first but they will get used to it. It is worth keeping their soul right with Jesus.

May God open up the eyes of all parents (and then especially Christians) to see how these satanic cartoons are destroying their children, and taking them further from the truth and God! Is there a surprise that we have all this killing and violence all around?

I just assumed everyone new family ### and the ### were ADULT cartoons, as well as anything on ### after 8/9 oclock (adult swim). We watch cartoons only during the day, and never these!!!! They even have warnings at the onset.

I don't have a problem with make believe and magical fairy tales and the like...especially shows that depict the light winning over the darkness, good characters winning over evil. I think a little imagination can be used to teach our children biblical truths.

BUT the perversion and the darkness...cartoons, shows that advocate adult content or maliciousness in an humorous (almost edifying) manner, that's where I draw the line.

### and I were JUST talking about this last night....the blatant sexuality, even in supposedly "teen" flicks like CW. Why can't I watch a great plot withOUT two people crawling into bed together....and most of them (the characters) are supposed to be high schoolers, even if they are being portrayed by 20/30 year olds. How do I teach celibacy outside of marriage if EVERYTHING on tv after 7/8 has a quick clip at the beginning or end to entice viewers.

Like, I said I am all about taking situations from "the world" and using these as teaching moments, but at some point you have to draw your own line in the sand. And no matter what we say, if our kids are repeatedly subjected to it, they will believe it's okay.

ON A POSITIVE NOTE:
PBS (the education channel) still shows EDUCATIONAL cartoons only...from 6am till 5:50pm. This is all we get since we don't have cable....just network. There's no violence, unless you consider WordGirl nabbing a burglar violence. There's absolutely no cruelty, cruedness. The cartoons teach, encourage not only education but love, removal of judgment, cultural awareness, etc. When I cut cable, I didn't have to explain to ### why he wasn't watching TMNTs all day any longer. It was simply, this is what we have...enjoy it.

My children used to watch PBS when they were smaller, but even Sesame Street on that network teaches about homosexuality now which goes against Leviticus 18:22. There was a skit with Elmo about families and it featured two men and a child eating an ice cream cone together as one of those families so we don't watch Sesame Street anymore. It's not only cartoons that blaspheme and mock Jesus I should say, most movies (even G and PG ones) on cable take the Lord's name in vain because they don't consider it foul language. It hurts my heart to hear it so with this I am done with all of it.

My opinion is that, why can they not have a channel for just adult cartoons and leave the ones for the kids alone? Then you can block out that channel instead of having to watch the clock to make sure your children who are allowed to stay up past 9pm won't see these shows. I agree with you Family Guy and the Simpson, I have never been a fan of and don't watch or allow my kids to watch. But I have teenagers that let their smaller siblings watch when I am not around, so I have to block out a lot of channels, which I don't mind. They state that kids are growing up too fast, but we allow adult programs and issues to spill over into their lives, education, programs, etc., but they are not finding ways to block them from being put on the air. As parents we can only do so much on our end and continue to ask God for guidance in the rest. It's a generation that has more to face than the last and it's not getting any better or simpler for them. We pray and hope that we give them the best values and teach them about what God expects out of us to reach His kingdom, but evil never sleeps to continue to get at our kids and family. And once they become young adults we continue to pray that they will keep those spiritual values and lessons we give them to carry them through this crazy world called life. Communities should not only come together through crimes that leave gut-wrenching pain, but as one to raise millions to carry a billion to the next stage of life. But as you can see, we are in our last days.

There are some Tom and Jerry cartoons and others as well kids programes such as Blues Clues, Sesame Street and other decent ones that were from the 80's to the 90's where kids can watch safely from the Youtube.
