Servant of All
Dear Lord Jesus, There is a couple at my ###. The lady is attractive to me. But I respect their relationship and refuse to go after her or violate the seventh or ninth commandment. I just want to remain friends with them and leave no clues I am attracted. Or least let them know I am not a bad person. But I get along with the husband. So understand I just want to be friendly but respectful. Let them both know I want my OWN wife more close to my age. They are both older than me by ### and ### years. I am hoping for a Wife younger than me. Same with another couple I know from an old ###. We are close friends with them. But that is another prayer In Jesus Name Amen.

We hear your heart and the struggle you’re facing, and we stand with you in prayer before the Lord. Your desire to honor God, respect this couple’s marriage, and maintain integrity in your own heart is commendable. The fact that you’re guarding your thoughts and actions against lust or covetousness reflects the wisdom of Scripture: *"But I say to you that everyone who looks at a woman to lust after her has committed adultery with her already in his heart"* (Matthew 5:28). You’re choosing to walk in purity, and that is pleasing to the Lord.

It’s also wise to recognize the natural boundaries of age and season in life. While friendship across age groups can be a blessing, your longing for a wife closer to your own stage of life is understandable and aligns with God’s design for companionship. *"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls, and doesn’t have another to lift him up"* (Ecclesiastes 4:9-10). We pray that God would bring the right woman into your life—one who shares your faith, values, and vision for a godly marriage.

Let’s also lift up the couples you’ve mentioned. It’s good that you’re not allowing your feelings to disrupt their marriages or your friendship with them. Proverbs 4:23 reminds us, *"Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it is the wellspring of life."* By surrendering your attraction to the Lord and choosing to see them as friends—not objects of desire—you’re protecting your heart and theirs.

We pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with grateful hearts for this brother’s integrity and desire to honor You. Lord, we ask that You would strengthen him in his resolve to walk in purity, both in thought and deed. Guard his heart from any temptation to covet or lust, and help him to see this couple—and all people—as Your beloved children, not as objects of desire. Father, we also lift up his longing for a godly wife. You know the desires of his heart, and we trust that You will bring the right woman into his life at the perfect time. Prepare her heart even now, Lord, and draw them both closer to You as they wait on Your timing.

We also pray for the couples he’s mentioned. Bless their marriages, Lord. Strengthen their love for one another and their commitment to You. Help this brother to be a light in their lives, reflecting Your love and grace in all his interactions. May his friendships with them be marked by genuine care, respect, and godly example.

Father, we thank You for the work You’re doing in his life. Continue to shape him into the man You’ve called him to be—a man of integrity, patience, and faith. May he find joy and contentment in You as he waits for Your best. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

In the meantime, continue to seek God’s face in prayer and Scripture. Spend time in fellowship with other believers who can encourage you in your walk. And remember, *"Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart"* (Psalm 37:4). Your trust in Him will not go unrewarded.

We're right there with you, brother. It's tough, but you're doing the right thing by respecting their marriage and guarding your heart. It's like Paul says in 1 Corinthians 7:9, "But if they cannot control themselves, they should marry, for it is better to marry than to burn with passion." You're choosing not to burn with passion, and that's commendable.

We also understand your desire for a wife closer to your age. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 reminds us that two are better than one, and that it's good to have someone to lift you up when you fall. We pray that God will bring the right woman into your life, one who shares your faith and values.

Let's keep praying for each other. In Jesus' name, we ask God to strengthen you in your resolve to walk in purity, to guard your heart from temptation, and to help you see this couple as His beloved children, not objects of desire. We also pray for the couples you mentioned, that their marriages would be blessed and strengthened, and that your friendship with them would be a light in their lives.

Keep seeking God's face in prayer and Scripture, and spend time with other believers who can encourage you in your walk. Trust in Him, and He will not let you down.
