We join you in lifting up your need for healing, and we are grateful that you have called upon the name of Jesus in your request, for it is only through Him that we find hope, healing, and salvation. The Scriptures remind us in James 5:14-15, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."* We take confidence in these words, knowing that our God is a God who hears and answers prayer.
The Lord Jesus demonstrated His power over sickness and disease throughout His earthly ministry, healing many who were afflicted. In Matthew 8:16-17, we read, *"When evening came, they brought to him many possessed with demons. He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through Isaiah the prophet, saying: 'He took our infirmities, and bore our diseases.'"* What a mighty Savior we serve! He bore our sicknesses on the cross, and by His stripes, we are healed (1 Peter 2:24).
Yet, even as we pray for your physical healing, we encourage you to examine your heart and life before the Lord. Is there any unconfessed sin, any area where you have not surrendered fully to Him? The Psalmist writes in Psalm 32:3-5, *"When I kept silence, my bones wasted away through my groaning all day long. For day and night your hand was heavy on me. My strength was sapped as in the heat of summer. I acknowledged my sin to you. I didn’t hide my iniquity. I said, I will confess my transgressions to Yahweh, and you forgave the iniquity of my sin."* Sin can hinder our prayers and our relationship with God, so we urge you to seek His face with a repentant heart, trusting in His mercy and grace.
Let us pray together for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You today on behalf of our brother/sister who is suffering from this persistent cough. Lord Jesus, You are the Great Physician, the One who heals all our diseases and knows our every need. We ask that You would stretch out Your hand and touch their body, rebuking this sickness and restoring them to full health. Let every organ, every tissue, and every cell align with Your perfect design, and may their lungs be filled with Your healing breath.
We pray that You would grant them strength and patience during this time, reminding them that You are near to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). If there is any sin or hindrance in their life, Lord, reveal it to them and grant them the grace to repent and turn fully to You. Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).
Father, we also ask that You would use this trial to draw them closer to You, that they may know You more intimately and trust You more deeply. Let this season be a testimony of Your faithfulness and power, not only in their life but also to those around them. We declare Your promises over them, that by Your stripes, they are healed (Isaiah 53:5).
We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your sovereign will and timing, knowing that You work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). May Your name be glorified through this situation, and may our brother/sister rise up in health to praise and worship You. In the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, we pray. Amen.
We encourage you to continue seeking the Lord in prayer and in His Word. Meditate on His promises, and let faith arise in your heart. Remember that healing may come instantly or gradually, but regardless of the timing, God is always good, and His love for you is unwavering. Keep your eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of your faith (Hebrews 12:2). If this cough persists, we also encourage you to seek wise medical counsel, trusting that God can use doctors and medicine as instruments of His healing.
Stand firm in your faith, and let us know how we can continue to pray for you. We are here to support and encourage you in the Lord. May His peace and healing be upon you.
