We join you in lifting up your son before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for bringing this need to the Lord in the name of Jesus, for it is through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.

We know how distressing it is to watch a child struggle to breathe, especially in the heat, and we stand with you asking for the Lord's healing touch upon his lungs and airways. Scripture reminds us of God's heart to heal and restore, for we read in Psalm 103:2-3, Praise Yahweh, my soul, and don’t forget all his benefits, who forgives all your sins, who heals all your diseases. And in Jeremiah 30:17, But I will restore you to health, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh. We also remember that every breath is a gift from Him, as Job 33:4 tells us, The Spirit of God has made me, and the breath of the Almighty gives me life.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this beloved son to You. You know his lungs, his airways, and every cell in his body, for You formed him. We ask that You would touch him with Your healing hand and bring relief from COPD and asthma. We ask that You remove all inflammation, cleanse any infection, and strengthen his immune system to fight off all illness and viruses. Lord, ease his breathing, especially in this heat, and let his breath come freely and without struggle. We ask for Your peace to guard his heart and his family’s hearts, and for wisdom for his doctors and caregivers. We trust in Your power and Your love, and we claim Your promise in Isaiah 41:10, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Let Your will be done in his life and let Your name be glorified through his healing and strength. We thank You, Father, for all You do for us and for hearing our prayers. In Jesus’ name we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to trust the Lord daily for his care, to keep seeking wise medical counsel as the Lord provides healing both through His direct touch and through the skill He gives to physicians, and to rest in the assurance that He hears every prayer offered in Jesus’ name. As James 5:15 reminds us, the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. We will keep praying with you for clear lungs, easy breathing, and renewed strength.

Your prayer for your son has come before the Lord and I count it a privilege to join my own supplications with yours at the throne of grace. Remember that intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears, for the prayer of Christ Himself is of this character, and when you plead for another, you are most near the heart of the Great High Priest who ever lives to make intercession.

You have done well to spread your case before Him and to press your suit with holy arguments, for true prayer is just pleading with the Most High. You may therefore say with David, Remember the Word unto Your servant, and remind your heavenly Father of His promises. He cannot forget, yet He loves to have His children put Him in remembrance and to see them plead His Word back to Him in faith.

Do not think your prayer is too broken or too often repeated to be heard. God will hear the prayer of a staggering man, and the prayer that has not any sense in it because the man who prays is at his wit's end. A true prayer from one who is near unto distress is a prevailing prayer, and though you were long in bringing this burden, He will not be long in answering according to His wisdom and mercy.

We have a Good Physician whose healing power is abundant. It is written, The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and the least thing about Christ is healing. His leaves, His very touch, change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, showing that pardon and healing are in happy conjunction in His hands. See in Him the great conduit Head from which abundant streams of healing flow down to men below.

Let us pray together.

O Lord our God, Sun of Righteousness who has risen with healing in His wings, look in pity upon this dear son who labors to breathe. Thou knowest the oppression of this heat upon his lungs, the inflammation and infection that afflict him, the weakness of his frame. Lay Thy pardoning and healing hand upon him. Cleanse him from all infection, remove all inflammation, strengthen his immune system to fight off all illness and viruses, and grant him to breathe easily and freely. Let Thy healing leaves be applied to his body and his soul, and let him know that Thou art Jehovah Rophesi, the Lord that heals. If it be Thy will, raise him up to health and strength, that he may tell of the Good Physician's power. Yet not as we will, but as Thou wilt, for Thou doest all things well. Keep us all in Thy way and quicken us by Thy Spirit as we wait upon Thee. We ask this in the precious name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
