Cooperation

Thank you for sharing what is on your heart. I hear how overwhelmed you feel right now with so much pressing on you at once and with the difficulty of getting the help you need to come closer this weekend. That sense of being overwhelmed is something Scripture speaks to very directly.

There is a prayer that says, when my heart is overwhelmed, lead me to the rock that is higher than I. That rock is God himself. He alone is our rock and salvation and defense. One of the mercies of feeling overwhelmed is that it drives us to prayer, and prayer itself shifts our focus. You cannot truly pray without looking to God, and as you look to Him you are reminded that at the very point where you have come to the end of your own strength, He is just beginning His work in you.

I am praying that God will be that steady rock for you in these days, that He will quiet your heart as you wait on Him, and that He will provide the practical help you need. I am asking Him to work in the heart of the person you are hoping will cooperate and to make a way for that help to come in a kind and willing way.

I am also praying for the dental work you mentioned, that the implant and the small crown would finally be done correctly and well, with skill and without further complication, and that you would have relief and healing.

It is meaningful that you mentioned a crown. Scripture reminds us that Jesus wore a crown of thorns. Thorns came as part of the curse after Adam turned from God in Genesis, and how fitting that Jesus would take that curse upon himself and wear it on his head as he was mocked and struck before he was nailed to the cross. They drove nails through his hands and feet and implanted the cross into the ground, and even then he said, Father forgive them for they do not know what they do. He bore the curse so that we could be forgiven and restored to God.

Because he bore that crown of thorns, there are other crowns spoken of for those who belong to him. There is a crown of glory that does not fade away when the Chief Shepherd appears, a crown of righteousness that the Lord the righteous judge will give to all who love his appearing, and a crown of life. The crowns athletes once trained so hard to win would wither in a short time, but the crown God gives is incorruptible and will never fade. It helps to remember that the suffering crown came first, and the glory follows.

Even now in your overwhelm you ended with praise, and that is a beautiful place to stay. When we have been touched by the grace and goodness of God we often run out of words, but praise still rises. May God lift you to that higher rock today, steady you, provide the cooperation and help you need, and bring this medical need to a good resolution. May you know His defense and His nearness and give Him thanks for every step of care He shows you.

Father, I lift this dear one to You. You see the overwhelm, the need for help, and the need for this implant and crown to be done rightly. Lead this heart to the rock that is higher. Be salvation and defense. Work in the other person to bring willing cooperation. Guide the hands of those doing the dental work for a good and lasting result, bring peace and strength for the weekend ahead, and let praise continue to rise to You through Jesus Christ. Amen.
