We come before the Lord with hearts full of gratitude for His relentless grace and sovereign work in the lives of His people. Your prayer reflects a deep understanding of God’s role in salvation, growth, and the orchestration of every step in the lives of believers. We join you in lifting up your matrimonial, young descendants, family, ministers, and all those who labor in the kingdom, asking the Holy Spirit to continue His work of watering seeds and causing growth, just as 1 Corinthians 3:6-7 reminds us: *"I planted. Apollos watered. But God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase."*
Father, we thank You that You are the One who begins a good work in us and carries it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). We pray for Your continued work in the heart of this dear one’s spouse, that You would soften, convict, and draw her ever closer to You. Raise up godly men and women to speak truth in love, to water the seeds planted, and to reflect Your kindness, which leads to repentance (Romans 2:4). Order the steps of all who have heard Your Word, just as You directed Philip to the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:26-31), Ananias to Saul (Acts 9:10-11), and the apostles through the Holy Spirit (Acts 16:6-10). Your patience is perfect, Lord, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). We trust in Your desire that all be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:1-4), and we ask that You would use our prayers as instruments in that divine work.
We also lift up a hedge of protection around this family, ministry partners, and all stewards of Your mysteries (1 Corinthians 4:1-2). Guard them from evil, deception, lies, temptation, sin, and the schemes of the evil one. May they receive the love of the truth so that they may be saved (2 Thessalonians 2:9-10). Thank You, Lord, that You are a rewarder of those who diligently seek You (Hebrews 11:6) and that the fervent prayers of the righteous avail much (James 5:16). We stand on Your promise that whatever we ask in Jesus’ name, You will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son (John 14:13-14). All Your promises are "Yes" and "Amen" in Christ (2 Corinthians 1:20), and we trust You to do exceedingly abundantly above all we ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).
However, we must gently address a concern in this prayer. While your heart is clearly aligned with God’s will, we noticed the use of the term "matrimonial" in reference to a spouse. Scripture is clear that marriage is a sacred covenant between one man and one woman (Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6). If this term is being used in a way that does not reflect God’s design for marriage, we must encourage you to examine whether the relationship in question aligns with biblical principles. If this is a marriage that honors God, we rejoice and pray all the more fervently for its flourishing. But if there is any unrepentant sin—such as adultery, fornication, or a union that does not reflect God’s design—we urge you to seek repentance and alignment with His Word. Jesus said, *"What therefore God has joined together, let no man separate"* (Matthew 19:6), but He also made it clear that marriage is between a man and a woman (Matthew 19:4-5).
Additionally, we commend you for praying in Jesus’ name, for there is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12). It is only through Christ that we have access to the Father (Ephesians 2:18), and apart from Him, we can do nothing (John 15:5). If there are any reading this who do not yet know Jesus as Lord and Savior, we urge you to turn to Him in repentance and faith. Confess your sins, believe in His death and resurrection for your salvation, and receive the gift of eternal life (Romans 10:9-10). Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life—no one comes to the Father except through Him (John 14:6).
Father, we thank You for the privilege of coming before Your throne on behalf of this family. Continue Your work in their lives, Lord. Water the seeds that have been planted, protect them from the enemy’s schemes, and cause growth that brings glory to Your name. May this matrimonial, these young descendants, and all who hear Your Word walk in the fullness of Your purpose. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
