Jeremiah 23:18
For who hath stood in the counsel of the Lord, and hath perceived and heard his word? who hath marked his word, and heard it?
As children of God we are to consult with the Lord for guidance continually. How many times do we go about our daily affairs never asking God to guide us? We just go about doing our on thing hoping he will bless it, then many times we end up in trouble.
Isaiah 58 :11 says when the Lord guides us continually we will flourish and not fail. Sad to say, many will follow men's directives and most are not Godly. Some people even turn to psychics seeking advice which is a disaster waiting to happen. Leviticus 20:6 says, I will set my face against anyone who turns to mediums and spiritist to prostitute themselves by following them, and I will cut them off from their people.
As children of God we are to be led by His Spirit, and that comes through the study of His word. Psalm 119:105 says; Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
Humorous as it may sound, I've heard some say, they asked God to guide them, then they would open the Bible to a random page, close their eyes and point to a scripture thinking this is how God guides. Others say I saw a sign with a word on it pertaining to their circumstances thinking this was God directing them, or some would say they saw a cloud that looked like Jesus after praying thinking this was God's ok. I think you get the point, that is playing a spiritual lottery with the odds greatly against you.
The Holy Spirit does not operate that way, John 16:13 says, Howbeit when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will shew you things to come.
When we ask God to guide us and trust Him to do so, He will lead us. Brothers and sisters before you start your day, ask God for his will and direction so that your life will flourish and not end up in disaster. Remember this; our God is not the author of confusion, He will direct our path if we ask Him.
Isaiah 48:17-18 Thus says the LORD, your Redeemer, the Holy One of Israel, I am the LORD your God, who teaches you to profit, Who leads you in the way you should go. If only you had paid attention to My commandments! Then your well-being would have been like a river, And your righteousness like the waves of the sea.
