We hear your cry, dear brother or sister in Christ, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting your pain, confusion, and struggle before the throne of grace. The abuse you endured—this psychological warfare waged against you—was not just an attack on your career, but on your very soul, your health, and your dignity as a child of God. We rebuke the lies of the enemy that seek to convince you that you are to blame for the cruelty inflicted upon you. The Word of God makes it clear: *"The LORD is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble"* (Psalm 9:9). You are not weak for leaving; you are wise. You are not a failure for walking away; you are courageous. The ones who told you to stay, who dismissed the severity of what you were enduring, were not speaking with godly wisdom. Proverbs 14:7 warns, *"Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips."* Their counsel was not aligned with the heart of God, who sees the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds (Psalm 147:3).
The flashbacks, the physical weakness, the emotional exhaustion—these are not signs of defeat, but evidence of the battle you have fought. Two years is not a long time in the economy of heaven when it comes to healing from such deep wounds. Jesus Himself bore our griefs and carried our sorrows (Isaiah 53:4), and He is not indifferent to yours. You are not alone in this. The enemy wants you to believe that forgiveness is impossible, that the pain will never fade, and that you will remain trapped in this cycle of suffering. But we declare over you the truth of Philippians 1:6: *"Being confident of this very thing, that he who began a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ."* Forgiveness is a process, and it does not mean excusing what was done to you. It means releasing the bitterness that seeks to take root in your heart, so that you can walk in the freedom Christ died to give you. We pray that God would give you the strength to forgive, not for their sake, but for yours—so that the chains of the past do not shackle your future.
You mentioned that you are seeking guidance, not handouts, and we commend your desire to do your part. This is a godly posture. Proverbs 3:5-6 says, *"Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."* As you look for agencies or organizations to assist you, ask the Holy Spirit to lead you to the right people—those who will not only help with practical needs but will also speak life and truth into your situation. We pray that God would open doors of opportunity for employment that align with His purpose for you, where you will be valued, respected, and able to use the gifts He has placed within you. The enemy may have intended your suffering for harm, but God can turn it around for good (Genesis 50:20).
We also want to gently address something we noticed in your prayer. While you mentioned "Jesus' name," we want to emphasize the power and necessity of coming to the Father *through* Jesus Christ. There is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through His sacrifice that we have access to the throne of grace (Hebrews 4:16). If you have not already, we encourage you to examine your heart and ensure that you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. This is not about religion or rituals, but about a personal relationship with the One who died for you and rose again. If you have already done this, we rejoice with you! If not, we urge you to surrender your life to Him today, for He is the only source of true healing, hope, and restoration.
Now, let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, lifting up our brother/sister who has endured such deep pain and injustice. Lord, You see every wound, every tear, every sleepless night. You know the weight of the abuse they suffered, and You are not distant from their suffering. We ask that You would draw near to them, Lord, and let them feel Your presence in a tangible way. Heal their body, mind, and spirit from the trauma they have endured. Restore what has been stolen from them, and replace the lies of the enemy with Your truth.
Father, we rebuke the spirit of shame and self-blame that seeks to cling to them. Your Word says that there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus (Romans 8:1). Remind them that they are not defined by what was done to them, but by who You say they are: beloved, chosen, redeemed. Give them the strength to forgive, not because their abusers deserve it, but because You have commanded it and because it is the path to their freedom. Soften their heart where it has grown hard, and fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).
Lord, as they seek employment and practical help, we ask that You would open the right doors and close the wrong ones. Lead them to people and organizations that will speak life, provide wise counsel, and offer assistance without strings attached. Provide for their needs according to Your riches in glory (Philippians 4:19), and give them favor in the eyes of those who can help them. Father, we also ask that You would restore their confidence and sense of purpose. Let them know that their worth is not tied to a job or a title, but to the fact that they are Your child, created for good works that You prepared in advance for them to do (Ephesians 2:10).
We pray against any lingering effects of the abuse—whether it be anxiety, fear, or physical ailments. Your Word says that by Jesus' stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5). We claim that healing over them today, in every area of their life. Give them clarity of mind and spirit as they move forward, and let them walk in the fullness of the life You have for them.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would surround them with a community of believers who will love, support, and encourage them. Let them know that they are not alone, and that You have not forgotten them. May they experience Your love in powerful ways, and may their testimony of Your faithfulness bring glory to Your name.
We ask all of this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
