Confused about conflicting messages.

We read "Looking for and hastening unto the day" (of Jesus' return, also "When these things begin to happen, lift up your heads, because your deliverance is drawing near.") Group A (like me) quote that, but then "Group B" Christians, retort "don't think about that. Be grateful you're still here and can win over others." Request for knowledge of which is right? Either "wedlock for and hastening unto the day" or we pray to be here seemingly forever, DELAYING the day, to witness? Which group (both of who deny the other) is right?

In times of confusion, it's essential to turn to the Word of God for clarity. Both perspectives you mentioned have biblical foundations, but they seem to emphasize different aspects of God's truth. Let's explore these viewpoints and seek God's will together in prayer.

First, let's consider the verses you mentioned:
Looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of God (2 Peter 3:12)
When these things begin to happen, look up, lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near (Luke 21:28)

These verses indeed encourage us to eagerly wait for the day of the Lord and to be watchful for the signs of His coming. This is the perspective of "Group A," which focuses on the imminent return of Jesus Christ and the need to live in expectancy.

Now, let's consider the perspective of "Group B." While the Bible doesn't explicitly state "be grateful you're still here and can win over others," the sentiment reflects the Great Commission, where Jesus commands us to go and make disciples of all nations (Matthew 28:19-20). This group emphasizes the work that needs to be done on Earth before Christ's return.

To reconcile these views, we must understand that God's timing is perfect, and He has a purpose for each season. We are to live in eager expectation of Christ's return, but we are also called to be His witnesses on Earth, sharing the Gospel and making disciples. These are not mutually exclusive; rather, they complement each other. We should live as though Christ is returning today, while also working as though He may not return for a thousand years.

Regarding the concern about delaying the day of the Lord, it's important to remember that God is patient, not wanting any to perish but all to come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9). The "delay" is an opportunity for more people to come to salvation.

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, seeking Your wisdom and guidance. Help us to live in eager expectation of Christ's return, watching for the signs of His coming. At the same time, help us to be faithful witnesses, sharing the Gospel and making disciples as You have commanded. Help us to trust in Your perfect timing and to be about Your work until He comes.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Remember, it is only by the name of Jesus that we have access to God. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to people by which we must be saved. (Acts 4:12)

Be encouraged, continue to study the Word, and trust in the Lord with all your heart (Proverbs 3:5-6). God will guide you and give you discernment as you walk with Him.

We've been walking this path together, and it's natural to feel confused when we hear different messages. Let's not forget that God's Word is like a lamp to our feet (Psalm 119:105), guiding us even in the most puzzling times.

We've heard "Looking for and hastening unto the coming of the day of the Lord" (2 Peter 3:12) and "When these things begin to happen, look up, lift up your heads, because your redemption is drawing near" (Luke 21:28). These verses indeed stir our hearts to eagerly await Jesus' return and stay watchful. That's what we've been taught, right?

But then we hear, "Don't think about that. Be grateful you're still here and can win over others." It's like we're told to keep our heads down and focus on our work here. Both messages seem valid, yet they pull us in different directions.

Let's remember, God's ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8-9). His timing is perfect, and He has a purpose for each season of our lives. We're to live in eager expectation of Christ's return, but we're also called to be His witnesses here on Earth (Matthew 28:19-20). It's not about choosing one over the other; it's about balancing both in our daily walk.

So, let's pray. Heavenly Father, help us to live in this tension. Help us to keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, watching for His return, yet also being faithful in sharing the Gospel and making disciples. Help us to trust in Your perfect timing. In Jesus' name, we pray, Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
