"Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But He said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.'” Therefore I willboast all the more gladly in my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest on me. That is why, for the sake of Christ, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong," 2 Cor 12:8-10. "The one who tames the tongue controls the whole body," James 3:2, but "No person can tame the tongue," Jam 3:8, "But Jesus said, 'What is impossible with man is possible with God,'" Luke 18:27. "By Faith people were from weaknesses were made strong," Heb 11:34, Goal of Trials: "Never pleasant in the present(does not 'seem like' joy, but grief), but later on, yields a harvest of righteousness and peace (it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness) to those who have been trained by submitting to discipline," Heb 12:11, What to Say and How to Say it (the Best Way Possible), Jn 12:49, "The LORD answered the angel who was speaking with me with Gracious words, Comforting words," Zech 1:13.

"While Confessing My Sins and The Sins of My Nation," Daniel 9:20, "If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land," 2 Chronicles 7:14... Father, thank You for giving mercy and grace in times of need, Heb 4:16, past and now in present. Though we may yet need grace to confess in the future, we rather prefer to be done with all future sin, and were there a button to push representing that ability to delete all future stumbling prior to their occurring, we'd gladly press it without delay or hesitation (since we all stumble often, specifically with the tongue, James 3:2). Yet since no such button exists, and the best of humanity and even Christians are at best still "human," we are content with what remedy we have, namely the prescription to humbly confess and forsake our sins, and promises of not only that we'll find mercy, Prov 28:13, but cleansing from all unrighteousness, 1 Jn 1:9, and even contentment in Your presence, Heb 13:5, and promises of holiness, which we inherit by faith, Heb 4:2, even promises to do no wrong, 2 Cor 13:7, not stumble in what we say and control the whole body, James 3:2, even to walk as Jesus Himself, 1 Jn 2:6, 1 Jn 4:17. We continue the remedy of our misuse of the instrument of the tongue we were given to glorify God and edify others, in confession and repentance, for sanctification both a one-time act and an ongoing work of participation with the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, Matt 3:8, Phil 2:12-13, 1 Tim 4:16, so we agree with Your admonition to confess our sins to one another and pray for each other that we may be healed, James 5:16 -- maybe that's how through boasting in our weaknesses 2 Cor 12:9 by faith from weaknesses we are made strong, Heb 11:32-34. So in obedience to Your teaching through Hosea, we, "Take words with you, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, 'Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips as bulls" Hos 14:2.

Lord, I've missed Your warnings, not hearkened to Your Voice, Missed Your Spirit's leading, haven't taken the way of escape in every occurrence, 1 Cor 10:13... I've dealt with things unrighteously, sinned and fallen short of Your glorious image, Rom 3:23, Gen 1:27, Matt 5:48, Eph 5:1. I've lacked love, have gotten "in the flesh," have said and typed things in with a mixture of emotions, even in anger, that even if they were true have either lacked love or forgotten the foundation of equality for the sake of Christ, Eph 5:21, maybe both or all of the following: I have done things mixed with pride and empty conceit, and in times of pain have said, spoken, typed, forwarded and done things to further my own interests or unrighteous emotions, rather than considering the interests of others, and lacked the attitude of Christ's humility that prefers my neighbor's advantage, and forgotten to treat others as more important than myself, Phil 2:3-5. Such actions and attitudes that display such mixture tainted with the anger of man do not achieve the righteousness of God, James 1:19-20. Therefore, not using my bodily members as instruments of righteousness consistently, I confess with Isaiah, I've been a man of unclean lips, Isa 6:5, and confess like Peter, I am an unclean man, Luke 5:8.

Since our transgressions are multiplied before you, and our sins testify against us; for our transgressions are with us, and as for our iniquities, we know them, transgressing and denying Yahweh, and turning away from following our God, speaking oppression and revolt, conceiving and uttering from the heart words of falsehood, Isa 59:12-13, at time, "Surely I have spoken of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know, therefore I despise my sins, and I repent from them in dust and ashes," Job 42:3, Job 42:6. Yet though You've disciplined me severely, You haven't given me over to death, Ps 118:18. I can say with the Psalmist, "It was good for me to be afflicted that I might learn the way of Your Commands," Ps 119:71. Let me make the most of Your discipline, knowing it's end result has many ends in mind, sanctification being a chief one, Even Jesus being the author, ἀρχηγὸν, ultimate architect, pioneer and engineer of our salvation, perfected through suffering, Heb 2:10, on earth and in flesh, the proving ground of obedience, becoming the ultimate fountain of salvation, Heb 5:8-9. Surely, there is One found Worthy, Rev 5:9.

Though beyond human capacity to bear at times tribulation transfers every drop of hope to You alone who raise the dead, 2 Cor 1:8-9, who has helped us and will yet again, others assisting us in prayers, 2 Cor 1:10-11, produces patience leading to maturity that we may also be complete, James 1:2-3, and though not pleasant at present, afterward yields not only perseverance, proven character but an abiding hope that does not disappoint, even granting assurance through The Holy Spirit of Adoption, Rom 5:3-5. May trials yield a harvest of peaceful fruit and righteousness, Heb 12:11, even an everlasting quietness and confidence, Isa 32:17, an everlasting crown of life, James 1:12, and ability to reign with You, as You overcame and reign in truth, humility and justice, Ps 45:4, Rev 3:19-21, Rev 21:7. We ask for grace to renew our minds, Rom 12:2, to rejoice in all these things knowing we are presently blessed and understanding their end is eternal reward, Matt 5:10-12, and that Your Intention is to work it all together for good, Rom 8:28, because You are indeed Gracious and Compassionate, Ex 34:4-5, as we see You were with Job, James 1:12. Let us pray for others and others pray for us knowing You have brought us through trials before, You will do so again, and that prayers are powerful and effective, 2 Cor 1:10-11, especially when we confess our struggles and sins to one another and pray for each other, Your promise is the prayers are powerful and effective, James 5:15-16, even as Elijah's, James 5:17-18... We join you in this humble and biblical confession and we thank you for sharing your heart so openly before the Lord and before us, for we know that confession itself is obedience and healing.

We agree with you that if my people who are called by my name shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land, 2 Chron 7:14 and as Daniel modeled, while I was speaking, and praying, and confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my supplication before Yahweh my God, Dan 9:20 so we too are called to confess. We hold fast to the promise that if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness, 1 John 1:9 and to confess your offenses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed, James 5:16 for the insistent prayer of a righteous person is powerfully effective, James 5:16.

We hear your longing to be done with all future stumbling, and we share that holy desire, yet we also agree with the wisdom you expressed that sanctification is both a finished work in Christ and an ongoing participation with the Holy Spirit as we work out our own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you both to will and to work, for his good pleasure, Phil 2:12-13. He who conceals his sins doesn't prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy, Prov 28:13. There is no button to press to instantly remove the flesh, for in many things we all stumble. If anyone doesn't stumble in word, the same is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body also, James 3:2 and we know that the tongue is a restless evil, full of deadly poison and nobody can tame the tongue, James 3:8. Yet what is impossible with men is possible with God, Luke 18:27. This is why we cling to His grace.

We rejoice with you in the mystery that His power is perfected in weakness. As you quoted, He has said to me, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness, 2 Cor 12:9. Therefore most gladly will we boast in our weaknesses, that the power of Christ may rest on us. That is why we delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties, for Christ's sake. For when we are weak, then we are strong, 2 Cor 12:9-10. By faith we too were made strong from weakness, Heb 11:34 and we learn to be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, James 1:19 for the anger of man doesn't produce the righteousness of God, James 1:20. We love that you desire gracious words, for Yahweh revealed Himself as Yahweh, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in loving kindness and truth, Exod 34:6 and the Lord answered the angel with gracious words, with comforting words, Zech 1:13. Let our speech be the same.

We also affirm your understanding of discipline, for all chastening seems for the present to be not joyous but grievous; yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been exercised thereby, Heb 12:11. It was good for us to be afflicted that we might learn Your statutes, Ps 119:71, and though our light affliction is indeed grievous for the moment, it works for us more and more exceedingly an eternal weight of glory, 2 Cor 4:17, and produces endurance and proven character and hope which doesn't disappoint us, because God's love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us, Rom 5:3-5.

We pray together now in the only name by which we must be saved, for there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12 and there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Tim 2:5.

Father, in Jesus' name we come before Your throne of grace to obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need, Heb 4:16. We thank You for Your mercy that has carried us in the past and sustains us now. We confess with our brother that we have missed Your warnings, not always hearkened to Your voice, not always taken the way of escape that You faithfully provide, 1 Cor 10:13. We have all sinned and fallen short of Your glory, Rom 3:23, and we have at times spoken and acted in the flesh, with pride and empty conceit, seeking our own interests rather than in humility considering others better than ourselves, Phil 2:3-4. We confess we have been men and women of unclean lips, Isa 6:5, and we say with Peter, depart from me, for I am a sinful man, Lord, Luke 5:8. Forgive us for words spoken in haste, in anger, and without love, for we know love must be the goal, the purpose of Your instruction is love out of a pure heart, a good conscience, and sincere faith, 1 Tim 1:5.

Lord, cleanse us from all unrighteousness according to Your promise, create in us a pure heart and renew a steadfast spirit within us. Teach us to tame the tongue by Your Spirit, for apart from You we can do nothing, John 15:5, but abiding in You and Your words abiding in us, we can bear much fruit, John 15:7. We ask You to take away all iniquity and receive us graciously, Hos 14:2, that we may render the fruit of our lips with thanksgiving. Renew our minds, Rom 12:2, that we may walk just as He walked, 1 John 2:6, controlling the whole body for Your glory. Let our trials yield a harvest of righteousness and peace, and an everlasting quietness and confidence, Isa 32:17, as we rejoice even in hardship knowing You work all things together for good for those who love You, Rom 8:28. We thank You that Your grace is sufficient and Your power rests upon us in our weakness. Keep us abiding in Christ, faithful to confess, quick to repent, and eager to pray for one another until we are made complete. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and only Mediator, Amen.

Thank you for pouring out your heart so openly. We can hear how much you want to walk faithfully, and how painful it is when words or reactions fall short of the love you want to show.

What stayed with us is the deeper longing you named, not just to be forgiven for yesterday but to be changed for tomorrow. That wish to be done with stumbling altogether is so understandable. God instead invites us into a steadier way where He does the transforming work as we keep turning to Him, honestly naming what happened and letting Him reshape our direction. It is less about feeling bad enough and more about a change of heart that begins to show in how we live, step by step.

Confession in that sense is not something God needs from us, it is something we need for healing. It frees us from carrying guilt alone and gently makes the old path less attractive as we walk a new one with Him. That growth happens gradually as we stay close to Christ and let His Spirit work in us while we also participate day by day.

Your confession has been read with thankfulness to God who works such humility of heart. It is a good sign when the soul does not hide its sin but brings it into the light before Him who is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love, as it is written in Exodus 34:6.

You have quoted rightly, If my people who are called by my name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and forgive their sin. And you have done as Daniel did, while confessing your own sin and the sins of your people. Take comfort that this work of confession is not a thing done once at the commencement of the spiritual life and then finished. Repentance lives as long as faith. Sweet sister repentance is charming company and we shall not part with her even at the gates of pearl. She abides with us all our pilgrimage, not as a bitter bondage but as a tender grief that makes a rainbow with her tears for sin and her glances of hope at the love of Christ and His great finished work.

You ask rightly to be done with sin, and yet you find as James says that we all stumble in many ways, and if any does not stumble in what he says he is a perfect man able also to bridle his whole body. No man can tame the tongue, but what is impossible with man is possible with God. Here is your hope, not in a button to press by your own strength, but in the grace that is sufficient for you. As the Lord said to Paul, My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is perfected in weakness. Therefore it is wise to boast gladly in weakness, in insults and hardships, that the power of Christ may rest upon you. By faith from weakness we are made strong, and the trial which is not pleasant at present afterward yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.

Learn then what true repentance is. There is a carnal repentance that is of the flesh and after the manner of the sinful nature, produced by fear of judgment, which repents not to give God glory. But the repentance which is the work of the Spirit of God gives God glory. It leads you to look out of self to Christ and to Christ only. Faith and repentance are inseparable. The repentance that ejects sin as an evil tenant and the faith which admits Christ to be the sole master of the heart go together. The repentance which purges the soul from dead works and the faith that fills the soul with living works are joined. Repentance and remission of sins are to be preached in the name of Jesus among all nations, and they are so joined together that wherever we find the one we are sure to find the other. Where there is no repentance there can be no remission, but where there is true godly sorrow there is full and free forgiveness. This repentance is not of your own making to be offered as a merit. It is the gift of God in Christ. You must not put your repenting into the place of Christ, but look to Him who is the author and perfecter of our salvation, who was perfected through suffering and became the fountain of salvation to all who obey Him.

Therefore make your confession as the publican did. Direct it to God alone, plainly and fully and spontaneously. He cannot be polluted by your iniquity, so pour out the particulars before Him, God be merciful to me a sinner. Before your fellow creature a general confession, I am a sinner, with prayer one for another that you may be healed, as James exhorts, is sufficient and seemly. Let no priest question you to draw it forth, for the excellence of penitence is lost if it be not free from the heart.

And remember your standing. By the will of God we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. The Father joins in the verdict of the Son that it is finished. All the will of God for the sanctification of His people is accomplished in that one offering. This work must be applied to us by the Holy Spirit, who works in you both to will and to do, that you may be made meet for service and that what you do may now be accepted. So you need not despair though sanctification is both a one time consecration and an ongoing work. He who has begun a good work will perfect it.

You have well said you desire to walk as Jesus walked, to be slow to anger, quick to listen, slow to speak, to tame the tongue, to prefer others above yourself in the humility of Christ. True repentance will yield works meet for repentance. It will be practical and it will last, not a transient pang but a daily turning from wicked ways and seeking His face. If you have this, though it be as a grain of mustard seed, it will grow.

We will pray for you as you have asked, that the Lord would open your lips that your mouth may show forth His praise, that He would cleanse you from all unrighteousness according to 1 John 1:9, that He would renew your mind and grant you to delight in weakness that Christ's power may rest on you, and that He would keep you abiding in Christ, whose name alone is given under heaven by which we must be saved, the one mediator between God and man. May He who has disciplined you severely but not given you over to death, and who has helped you heretofore, help you yet again, until affliction has taught you His statutes and brought forth in you that harvest of righteousness and peace which He has promised.
