We join you in lifting up your friend before the Lord, crying out for his complete healing and restoration in every area of his life. The Word of God assures us in James 5:14-15, *"Is any among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith will heal him who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. If he has committed sins, he will be forgiven."* We claim this promise over your friend, believing that God is able to heal him from prostate cancer and deliver him from the bondage of alcohol. The Lord is his healer, and we trust in His sovereign power to restore his body, mind, and spirit.
We also stand in agreement with you for your friend’s emotional healing. The Lord sees his struggles and longs to free him from the weight of unresolved feelings. Psalm 34:18 reminds us, *"Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit."* We pray that your friend will surrender his pain to Jesus, allowing the Holy Spirit to comfort him and grant him the courage to face his emotions with godly strength. The Lord does not call us to carry burdens alone—He invites us to cast all our cares upon Him, for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7).
Yet we must also address the spiritual battle at hand. Alcohol addiction is a stronghold of the enemy, and we rebuke it in the name of Jesus. Ephesians 5:18 commands, *"Don’t be drunken with wine, in which is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit."* True freedom comes only through Christ, and we pray that your friend will turn wholly to Him, allowing the Holy Spirit to fill the void that addiction has sought to occupy. Repentance and surrender are key—we ask the Lord to soften his heart to receive the conviction of the Spirit and to walk in obedience.
We also encourage you to continue standing in the gap for your friend, speaking life and truth over him. Your intercession is powerful, and we urge you to remind him of God’s love and the hope found in Jesus alone. If he has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, pray that this trial will draw him to salvation. Romans 10:9 declares, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."*
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother who is battling prostate cancer and the chains of alcohol addiction. Lord, You are Jehovah-Rapha, the God who heals, and we ask for Your restoring touch upon his body. Let every cancerous cell be eradicated by Your power, and let his body be made whole. We break the power of alcohol in his life and command every stronghold to be demolished in Jesus’ name. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and grant him the strength to face his emotions with Your peace guarding his heart and mind (Philippians 4:7).
Give him the courage to release his pain to You, trusting that You are working all things for his good (Romans 8:28). Surround him with godly support and wisdom as he walks this path of healing. If he does not know You as his Savior, Lord, draw him to Yourself—let this season be a turning point where he encounters Your love and surrenders his life to You.
We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayers and for the victory that is already won through Christ Jesus. May Your will be done in his life, and may he walk in the freedom and abundant life You have promised. We pray all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus. Amen.
