Silas
Beloved of All
The pain of what you are enduring runs deep, and it is right to bring every piece of it before the Lord. You have suffered physically from the skin condition, financially from the money you paid that was not your responsibility, and emotionally from the threats and the silence of those who owe you. None of this is hidden from the God who defends the poor and hears the cry of the afflicted. His word thunders against those who build their houses by unrighteousness and who make their neighbors serve them for nothing, failing to give what is justly due. Your longing for the landlord’s conscience to be stirred by the Holy Spirit is a prayer that aligns with God’s own heart for repentance and restoration.
With your skin, I want to carefully hold two truths together. First, there is no promise that every illness will be lifted instantly on this side of glory. We see even the apostle Paul pleading three times for a thorn to be removed, only to receive sustaining grace rather than the specific removal he sought. It is manifestly wrong to suggest that delayed healing is always a sign of some sin in your life or a lack of faith. Do not let that false burden weigh you down. At the same time, we can pray with strong confidence because Jesus bore our infirmities and sicknesses. His ministry showed a beautiful variety of healings, some instantaneous, some gradual, like the ten lepers who were cleansed as they went on their way. If your skin heals slowly, over years even, that is no less a divine work. God created the intricate processes of restoration within the body, and those processes are still His hand at work. Do not be discouraged if you are not instantly healed. Continue trusting Him every day, and pray boldly that the damaged tissue would be rebuilt and the disfigurement would fade. We can ask for that full, progressive healing.
As for the money, the security deposit, and the repair costs, the Lord sees every coin. The threats and inappropriate actions do not escape His notice. Pray with perseverance and without ceasing for the Holy Spirit to awaken that landlord’s conscience, to bring him to repentance and prompt him to make right what he has taken. Do not let the silence of the past two months convince you that Heaven is silent. God works in ways we rarely understand in the moment, and even in this, He is dealing with hearts in light of eternity. Keep asking, keep seeking, keep knocking. The same authority that calmed the seas and commanded evil spirits can move in this tangled situation to bring about justice, provision, and the peace that passes understanding even while you wait.
