Behind the Counter
Hard work and integrity in your daily tasks bring honor now and eternal reward later.
We join you in this holy burden for the lost and we say amen to your cry for compassion and for laborers to be sent into the harvest. Your prayer aligns so beautifully with the heart of God and with the Scriptures.

We are moved by how you have pleaded with the Lord of the harvest according to Matt 9:37-38 where Jesus said to his disciples, The harvest indeed is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore that the Lord of the harvest will send out laborers into his harvest, and again in Luke 10:2, The harvest is indeed plentiful, but the laborers are few. Pray therefore to the Lord of the harvest, that he may send out laborers into his harvest. We agree that the Lord Jesus himself is the Lord of the harvest and that He alone calls, prepares and sends.

We also join you in praying for Holy Spirit power and wisdom and love to seek and save the lost, for as you quoted, you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you. You will be witnesses to me in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the uttermost parts of the earth, Acts 1:8, and for the Son of Man came to seek and to save that which was lost, Luke 19:10. We love that you remember the faithful saying that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom we are chief, 1 Tim 1:15, and that Jesus answered, Those who are healthy have no need for a physician, but those who are sick do, Luke 5:31, and I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance, Luke 5:32. This humble attitude is essential for true evangelism.

We rejoice that you lifted up the truth that the Lord is not slow concerning his promise, as some count slowness, but is patient with us, not wishing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance, 2 Pet 3:9, and that God desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the truth, 1 Tim 2:4. We affirm with you that there is only one way to the Father, for Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6, and there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Tim 2:5, and there is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is only through faith in Jesus Christ that we have access to God and eternal life.

We pray together now in Jesus name.

Father in heaven, Lord of the harvest, we plead with You to send out laborers into Your harvest. We ask You to call, equip, and send workers with Holy Spirit wisdom, power and love. Fill our hearts with Your love, Eph 3:17, and grant us boldness to know, do and speak Your Word and to hear and obey Your voice. Provide all that is needed for the work, our daily bread, Matt 6:11, passports, provision, open doors and open heavens, and deliver us from the evil one and protect us from temptation and sin, Matt 6:13, John 17:15. We pray for the families and teams of evangelists to walk in unity and with good consciences, 1 Pet 3:7, and to be kept from evil people, from fear and lies, Zeph 3:13, and from every work of the evil one, 1 John 5:18. Help us to redeem the time and remember that now is the acceptable time, behold, now is the day of salvation, 2 Cor 6:2, and we must work the works of him who sent us, while it is day. The night is coming, when no one can work, John 9:4. Where You are, there may Your servants also be, John 12:26. Let greater be He who is in us than he who is in the world, 1 John 4:4, and let Your angels guard us in all our ways, Ps 91:11. We ask all this in the mighty and only saving name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

We hear the weight and the love behind your prayer for more workers in the harvest. You are asking for what Jesus himself told us to ask for, and we want to stand with you in that.

What encourages us in your prayer is the way you hold both urgency and dependence together, asking for open doors and also for the character and provision workers need to go and stay faithful. That balance matters.

One simple way we have seen that prayer take root is when a few people commit to keep asking together. If you have two or three others who share this burden, meeting regularly even briefly to pray for the harvest by name, for specific neighborhoods, workplaces, or nations on your heart, often keeps the burden from feeling solitary and helps you notice where God is already at work nearby. Many find that being willing to be part of the answer, even in a small way like introducing one person to Jesus in everyday conversation, is how the larger sending begins.

We are grateful for your faithfulness to keep pleading with the Lord of the harvest.

Father, we join this prayer and ask You to raise up workers filled with Your Spirit, with love and wisdom, and to guard them and their families as they go. Provide what they need and open hearts to receive Your truth through Jesus, in whose name we pray, amen.

We have heard your earnest pleading for the harvest and we join our hearts with yours before the Lord of the harvest, to whom alone this work belongs.

Your prayer is scriptural and timely, for our Lord Himself said, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few, pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that He will send forth labourers into His harvest. When He spoke of them as a harvest He had before His mind the idea of danger to them and of immediate need, for the reaping of the harvest is to a considerable extent a matter of now or never. The farmer sows his seed with a view to harvest and he expects a harvest, and so every Church should be looking for a spiritual harvest. Yet how many say, There are yet four months and then cometh harvest, while the Master says, Lift up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are white already to harvest. Now is the day and now is the hour, for today is the day of salvation and the acceptable time will not last forever.

We therefore pray with you that the Lord would thrust forth labourers into His harvest, men and women called and prepared and upheld by His hand. We ask that He would grant them intimacy with Christ, love in their hearts, power to know and to do and to show the Word, and to hear and obey His voice. As it is written, ye shall receive power after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you, and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem and in all Judaea and in Samaria and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Without that power we can do nothing, but with it the weakest witness becomes mighty through God.

We pray also as you have asked, that the Lord who came to seek and to save that which was lost, who came not to call the righteous but sinners to repentance, would save sinners through the only Name given under heaven whereby we must be saved, and through the one Mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, who is the only way to the Father. For He will have all men to be saved and to come unto the knowledge of the truth, and He is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance. May He give to His workers the mind of Christ, who counted Himself the friend of sinners for the purpose of love, that with the humility of those who know themselves to be chief of sinners they may carry the gospel with compassion and truth.

We ask for their provision and protection, for daily bread and for open doors, for passports and places to lodge where needed, and above all for keeping from sin and from the evil one, that with good consciences and under open heavens the word may run and be glorified. May the Lord bless their households and grant unity and strength to their families and teams, and deliver them from evil men and from temptation.

There is a joy before the Lord according to the joy in harvest, and when the harvest is abundant there is universal joy. The reapers rejoice and the harvested ones rejoice also, for they are gathered as golden sheaves into the garner. We look for that joy again in our own day, and for the greater joy when the righteous shall be gathered home as shocks of corn fully ripe to be forever with the Lord. May the Lord grant us faith to rest upon His Word and to expect this harvest at His hand, and grace to work while it is day, for the night cometh when no man can work.

We commit your supplication to our gracious God, trusting His covenant that seedtime and harvest shall not fail, and praying that He will do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
