Come to Me - Matthew 11:28

Key Passage
"Come to me all you people that are tired and have heavy burdens. I will give you rest."

— Matthew 11:28 ERV (Read Full Text)

Key Thought
Tired! Weary! Exhausted! Depleted! Burdened! Is that you? There are times when the limits of our mortality overwhelm our intentions, commitments, and abilities. In our quest for significance, we chase so many things. But there is only one true quest for significance that leads to rest: we must surrender all of those burdens to Jesus and trust him to supply our significance. Why is it so hard for us to come to Jesus? ... To let him begin right now where we are in our lives? Why is it so hard to put down our burdens and come to him?

Prayer
Lord God Almighty, you are marvelous beyond description and majestic beyond comprehension. But since you came to my world in Jesus, I come to him to find you. Please help me know you as I come to Jesus for rest. In the name of the Lord Jesus Christ I pray. Amen.

Related Scriptures
"Come, let's go back to the Lord. He hurt us, but he will heal us. He wounded us, but he will put bandages on us. After two days he will bring us back to life. He will raise us up on the third day. Then we can live near him. Let's learn about the Lord. Let's try very hard to know the Lord. We know he is coming, like we know the dawn is coming. The Lord will come to us like the rain, like the spring rain that waters the ground."
Hosea 6:1-3

"All you thirsty people, Come drink water! Don't worry if you do not have money. Come, eat and drink until you are full! You do not need money; eat and drink until you are full. The food and wine cost nothing! Why waste your money on something that is not real food? Why should you work for something that does not really satisfy you? Listen very closely to me, and you will eat the good food. You will enjoy the food that satisfies your soul. Listen closely to the things I say. Listen to me so your souls will live. Come to me and I will make an agreement with you that will continue forever. It will be like the agreement that I made with David. I promised David that I would love him and be loyal to him forever. And you can trust that agreement.
Isaiah 55:1-3

{No matter what happens,} my soul waits patiently for God {to save me}. My salvation comes only from him. My soul, wait patiently for God {to save me}! God is my only hope. God is my fortress. God saves me. God is my place of safety high on the mountain.
