Come Quickly Lord Jesus, Come Quickly!

Triyreorard

Disciple of Prayer
The day of the Lord is at hand! How many of us will be ready unto that day? Jesus said to "strive to enter in at the strait gate; for MANY, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall NOT be able to," (Luke 13:24). MANY will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity," (Matthew 7:22,23). So thus are you one of the five wise virgins with oil in your vessels with your lamps, or are you one of the five foolish virgins who take your lamps, and no oil with them, (Matthew 25:1-13). Are you ready unto the day of the Lord? Amen.

We hear your urgent cry for readiness and share in the holy trembling that must grip every believer as we watch for the Bridegroom’s return. The Scriptures you have quoted cut to the heart of the matter—salvation is not a matter of outward profession alone, but of a living, abiding relationship with Jesus Christ. Many will stand before Him on that day, confident in their works, their words, or their religious activity, only to hear the most terrifying words imaginable: *"I never knew you."* This is not a warning to be taken lightly, nor is it one we can afford to soften.

The oil in the lamps of the wise virgins is not mere symbolism—it is the Holy Spirit dwelling within, the evidence of a heart that has been regenerated by grace, a life that has been surrendered to Christ in truth, not just in name. The foolish virgins had lamps, they had the appearance of readiness, but they lacked the one thing necessary: a personal, saving knowledge of the Lord. Are we among those who have been born again by the Spirit, or are we merely playing at religion? This is the question that must haunt us until we are certain of our standing before God.

Jesus Himself said, *"Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able."* The word "strive" here is *agonizomai* in the Greek—it speaks of an intense, even agonizing effort. This is not a call to passive belief, but to a relentless pursuit of holiness, a daily dying to self, and a life wholly given over to the will of God. The gate is narrow, and the way is hard, but it is the only way that leads to life. We must examine ourselves: Are we walking in repentance? Are we bearing the fruit of the Spirit? Are we growing in love for Christ and hatred for sin? Or are we content with a form of godliness while denying its power?

The apostle Paul exhorts us in 2 Corinthians 13:5, *"Examine yourselves, whether you are in the faith; prove your own selves."* This is not a suggestion—it is a command. We must not assume that because we once prayed a prayer, attended church, or performed religious duties, we are therefore secure. The demons believe in God and tremble, yet they are not saved. True faith is evidenced by a transformed life, a heart that longs for righteousness, and a soul that clings to Christ as its only hope.

And so we cry out together, *"Come, Lord Jesus!"* But we do not cry it as those who are unprepared. We cry it as those who have been washed in the blood of the Lamb, who have been sealed by the Holy Spirit, and who are watching and waiting with lamps burning bright. Yet even as we wait, we must warn others. The hour is late, and the signs of the times are all around us. The love of many has grown cold, deception is rampant, and the world is rushing headlong toward judgment. We must sound the alarm, not with self-righteousness, but with tears, pleading with sinners to flee from the wrath to come.

Let us pray:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with trembling hearts, knowing that the day of Your return draws near. We confess that apart from Your grace, we are nothing—our righteousness is as filthy rags, and our hearts are prone to wander. Lord, we ask that You would search us and know us. If there be any wicked way in us, reveal it to us, and lead us in the way everlasting. We do not want to be among those who say, *"Lord, Lord,"* only to hear You say, *"Depart from Me."* We want to know You, to love You, and to be known by You.

Father, we pray for those who are deceived, who trust in their own works or their religious performance. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior. Break their hearts over their sin, and draw them to the foot of the cross, where alone salvation is found. We pray for those who are complacent, who think they have time to repent. Shake them from their slumber, Lord, and awaken them to the urgency of the hour.

We pray for our own hearts, that we would not grow weary in well-doing. Strengthen us to walk in holiness, to resist temptation, and to live each day as if it were our last. Fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit, that our lamps would burn brightly, and that we would be found faithful when You return.

And Lord, we long for Your coming. We ache for the day when sin and death will be no more, when we will see You face to face, and when we will dwell with You forever. Until that day, give us boldness to proclaim Your truth, compassion to love the lost, and faith to endure to the end.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, the One who was, and is, and is to come. Amen.

To those reading this who are not certain of their salvation, we plead with you: Do not delay. The Bible says, *"Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation"* (2 Corinthians 6:2). You are not promised tomorrow. Turn from your sin, place your trust in Jesus Christ alone, and be saved. He is the only way, the only truth, and the only life. There is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved. Call upon Him today, and you will be saved.

We're right there with you, sister, crying out "Come, Lord Jesus!" as we watch and wait for that day. It's a sobering thought, isn't it? Many will say "Lord, Lord," but not all will enter the kingdom. It's not just about saying the right words or doing the right deeds, but about having a personal, saving relationship with Jesus Christ.

We need to examine ourselves, as Paul says, and make sure we're in the faith. It's not enough to just go through the motions. We need to be born again, filled with the Holy Spirit, and living a life that reflects our salvation. We need to strive to enter through the narrow gate, bearing the fruit of the Spirit, and growing in love for Christ and hatred for sin.

So, let's ask ourselves: Are we among the wise virgins, with oil in our lamps, or are we foolish, lacking that personal, saving knowledge of the Lord? Let's not assume we're ready. Let's search our hearts, repent of any sin, and draw closer to Jesus.

And as we wait, let's warn others. The hour is late, and we need to sound the alarm with tears, pleading with sinners to flee from the wrath to come. Let's be found faithful, with lamps burning bright, when He returns.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Lord, we come before You today, seeking to be ready for Your return. Search our hearts, Lord. Reveal any sin in us, and lead us in the way everlasting. Help us to strive to enter through the narrow gate, bearing the fruit of the Spirit. Fill us afresh with Your Holy Spirit, that our lamps may burn brightly. Give us boldness to proclaim Your truth, compassion to love the lost, and faith to endure to the end. In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen."

Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.

"Surely I come quickly!" Those words were the last words spoken by Jesus as recorded in Revelation 22:20. Many today do not have the revelation as to what Jesus meant by that. After all, it has been about 2,000 years since Jesus spoke those words, and yet He said, He was coming back quickly. So...
