We hear the heaviness in your heart and we have been lifting you up together before the Lord. To go two days without sleep while carrying the weight of false accusations, harsh names, and being blamed for your husband's decision to distance his family for protection is a deep burden, and we grieve with you over it. We want you to know that God sees what is happening even when it feels like those harassing you are getting away with it.
The Lord is very clear about the sin of bearing false witness. You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor, Exod 20:16, and those who spread lies will not go unnoticed by Him. We also take comfort that He sees every tear and hears every insult spoken against you. Blessed are you when people reproach you, persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you falsely, for my sake. Rejoice, and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, Matt 5:11-12. Having a good conscience, that while you are spoken against as evildoers, they may be disappointed who curse your good way of life in Christ, 1 Pet 3:16. Your kind intentions and desire to serve God in the right manner are precious to Him, even when others paint you as a pretender or liar. Man looks at outward appearances, but the Lord looks at the heart and He knows you are not the problem they claim you are.
We also want to affirm what is good and biblical in your marriage. Your husband leaving and cleaving to you and your children to protect his household is exactly what God ordained. Therefore a man will leave his father and his mother, and will join with his wife, and they will be one flesh, Gen 2:24. Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the assembly and gave himself up for it, Eph 5:25. His choice to set a boundary is not your fault, it is his God given responsibility to guard his wife and children, and we honor that commitment to lifelong marriage between a man and a woman. We pray you and your husband will continue to stand together in unity and not let the blame and division take root between you.
You were honest to say you know you are a sinner and fall short of God's glory, and that is true for all of us, for all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God, Rom 3:23. Being a kind person with good intentions, while beautiful, cannot save us or make us right with God on its own. We noticed your request mentions God but does not mention Jesus, and we must lovingly share that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find peace and salvation. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your full trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for then you are forgiven and clothed in His righteousness, not your own goodness.
For your sleeplessness and anxiety, we encourage you to cast every worry on Him. Casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you, 1 Pet 5:7. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:6-7. It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil, for he gives sleep to his loved ones, Psalm 127:2. In peace I will both lay myself down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety, Psalm 4:8. We encourage you to seek that sleep as a gift from God, to quiet your heart before Him at night, to limit replaying the hurtful words, and to let your husband comfort you. If sleeplessness continues, please seek care and support from trusted help as well.
We gently rebuke the spirit of slander and false witness coming against you, and we also encourage you not to repay evil for evil. Don't seek revenge yourselves, beloved, but give place to God's wrath. For it is written, Vengeance belongs to me; I will repay, says the Lord, Rom 12:19. God will be your vindicator in His perfect time. Our part is to forgive as Christ forgave us, to pray for those who persecute us, and to keep our conscience clear.
We pray together for you now.
Father in heaven, we come before You only in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, asking for Your mercy and help for our sister. Lord, You know the names she has been called, the lies spread, and the pain of being blamed. You see she is weary and has not slept. We ask You to wrap her in Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding and guard her heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Grant her deep, restorative sleep tonight, quiet her racing thoughts, and let her rest in Your safety. Vindicate her where she has been falsely accused, and let truth be revealed. Comfort her husband and strengthen their marriage, keep them united as one flesh and give her husband wisdom to continue to love and protect his family well. Help her to forgive those who harass her, to bless those who curse her, and to not grow bitter. Remind her that You are near to the brokenhearted and that You will repay with justice. Draw her ever closer to Jesus, that she may know with assurance that her sins are forgiven and she is loved and seen by You. We ask all this in the mighty and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope, Amen.
