Coffee

Dhitlor

Good and Faithful Servant
I have been drinking a lot of coffee lately for work. Please pray it will not harm me. Please also pray for my appetite because I often find it hard to eat foods that are healthy for me to the point that I lose my appetite when I have to eat them. Thank you.

We have heard your request about drinking a lot of coffee for work and about struggling with your appetite for healthy foods, and we join with you in bringing this before the Lord together in Jesus name.

We are reminded that our bodies are not our own and we are called to be good stewards of what God has given us. Scripture tells us, Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s. 1 Corinthians 6:19-20. And also, Whether therefore you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God. 1 Corinthians 10:31. This includes how we find strength for our work and how we nourish ourselves. We understand the pressure of needing to stay alert for work, yet we want to encourage you not to rely on coffee or any stimulant for your strength but to look to the Lord for your true sustenance and rest, and to practice moderation and self control which is a fruit of the Spirit. For every creature of God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with thanksgiving. For it is sanctified through the word of God and prayer. 1 Timothy 4:4-5.

We also notice that your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to lovingly share that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and that our prayers are heard. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6. And, There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12. It is by putting our faith in Jesus, believing that He died for our sins and rose again, that we are reconciled to God and can come boldly before His throne. We encourage you to trust in Him as your Lord and Savior if you have not already, and to bring every need to God in His name.

We pray together for you now. Father in heaven, we lift up this dear one to You in the name of Jesus Christ. We ask for Your mercy and protection over their body as they have been drinking much coffee. We pray that You would guard them from harm and help them to find balance and moderation. Give them wisdom to care for the temple You have given them, to rest well, to drink water, and to seek their energy and alertness from You rather than from excess caffeine. Lord, we also bring their appetite before You. You know how difficult it is for them to eat what is healthy and how they lose their appetite. We ask that You would restore a healthy desire for nourishing food, that You would help them to receive it with thanksgiving as Your good provision, and that You would strengthen their body. As it is written, Beloved, we pray that you may prosper in all things and be healthy, even as your soul prospers. 3 John 1:2. We pray for peace over any anxiety about work or health, for Your Word says, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7. Lead them to make choices that honor You, to trust You for daily strength, and to experience Your healing and sustaining grace. We ask all this in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and mediator, amen.

We encourage you to take practical steps as you trust the Lord. Consider gradually reducing coffee and replacing it with water, taking breaks, and seeking adequate sleep, asking God for discipline and grace day by day. Pray before meals, thanking God for the healthy foods He provides, even when they are not appealing, and ask Him to change your taste and appetite for His glory. He is faithful to help us when we seek to honor Him in both eating and drinking.

We are glad you wrote to us about what you are carrying at work. Needing extra coffee to get through long days and then finding it hard to eat in a way that helps you feel well can be discouraging, and we hear how much you want to honor God with your health.

We are praying with you for steadiness and wisdom in the middle of those pressures. God sees both your diligence at work and your desire to care for your body, and He is near as you make day to day decisions.

Because you are worried about whether the amount of coffee could be harmful and about losing your appetite with healthy foods, we gently encourage you to bring those specific concerns to your primary care provider or other trusted medical professional, alongside prayer, so you can get personalized guidance and peace of mind. We will continue to keep you in prayer and are thankful you let us walk alongside you in this.

Father, we lift our friend to You in Jesus name. Thank You for their life and work. Please give them rest, clear wisdom for daily choices, and comfort when eating feels difficult. Guide any conversations with their doctor and let them know Your care and presence each day. In Jesus name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have received your request and we join you in bringing it before the Lord with thankfulness that you would share it. You speak of much coffee taken for work and of a struggle to find appetite for wholesome food. These things which concern the body are not small in His sight, for our complete health lies in the right condition of spirit, soul and body, and He is the health of our countenance and our God.

It is a great blessing when food and appetite meet together. To have appetite and no provision, or provision and no appetite, leaves a man unsatisfied, but the happy conjunction of the two secures content. We pray that the Lord who gives both the provision and the desire will create in you a true and thankful appetite for that which nourishes and strengthens you. May He make wholesome food sweet to you, and may you receive it by faith with gratitude.

We are reminded also that nothing is our own, it is all our Master's, and we are stewards of all He has entrusted to us. This body is part of that stewardship. May the Lord give you wisdom to be a faithful steward, to labour diligently in your calling and yet not to trifle with the health He has given, not to grow careless or to leave your heart out of your work, but to use all His gifts in moderation and to His honour, remembering that we must give account for how we have cared for what belongs to Him.

We commend you to the Great Physician, who walked among the sick and healed all manner of maladies by His word and His touch, and who still reigns in power though His bodily presence is now on high. He knows our frame and He is able to keep and to restore. May you know His preserving care, that you may be able to touch the things of this life and not be defiled or injured, but rather be kept in soundness to serve Him.

Let us pray together. O Lord our God, Thou art the health of our countenance, look graciously upon this Thy servant. Grant wisdom to steward the body Thou hast given, grant moderation in daily habits and protection from all that would do harm. Create and restore a wholesome appetite for healthful food, and let food and appetite meet together to Thy glory. Keep spirit, soul and body in health, and cause Thy face to shine upon this life, that strength may be renewed for Thy service. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, who satisfies all who come to Him. Amen.

I feel like I'm the only person in the world who DOESN'T like coffee, but here goes. When people "crave" the morning cup of coffee and are addicted to it, and say they can't make it through the day, by them saying they need the coffee instead of God helping them through the day, is that a form...
