Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for sharing these burdens so openly. I have prayed with you over each of these needs and I want to encourage you in the Lord as you bring them to Him.
You mentioned odors in the home and concern about the kitchen sink, the heat that has lingered, the desire for weight to come off quickly, the hope to make an event with new friends, the need for open doors for you and your loved ones, for protection and strength to get things done, and even that your phone would charge properly. God cares about both the large and the small details of your life, and He invites you to cast all of your cares on Him.
Scripture gives us a helpful perspective on health. The apostle John wrote to his friend Gaius, I wish above all things that you may prosper and be in health even as your soul prospers. That was not written as a blanket promise that every believer will always be healthy or that weight will always fall off quickly if we have enough faith. It was a loving greeting and prayer, much like we might say today, I hope you are doing well. Yet it does show us something beautiful. John prayed that Gaius physical health would match the health of his soul, because there is a real connection between the inner life and the outer life. Our attitudes, our peace, our worry, even our habits can affect our bodies. For that reason it is wise to seek first the prosperity of the soul, to walk closely with Jesus, to be nourished by His Word, to confess sin, to live in thankfulness and trust, and to let that inner health shape how we steward our bodies.
That also means we should not equate spirituality with a guarantee of perfect physical health or rapid results. Some of the most faithful followers of Jesus have walked through ongoing physical struggles, and loving and serving God does not give us immunity from heat, or sickness, or household problems. God does help us and He does heal, and He has shown throughout Scripture that He is able to work in ways beyond natural means, but He also calls us to wisdom and stewardship.
For your health, thank God for every good gift, and ask Him for wisdom to care for the body He has given you. A loss of appetite that leads to very quick weight loss is not always healthy on its own. Pray that the Lord would help you pursue lasting health in a balanced way, with good nourishment, rest, and wise counsel from medical help when needed, while your greatest desire remains that your soul would prosper as you abide in Christ. As your soul prospers in Him, ask Him to give you a sound mind and a healthy rhythm for your body as well.
For the odors and the sink, it is right to pray and also to act with practical care. Scripture teaches that cleanliness matters for our well being and helps prevent sickness. Attend to what you can in the home with thorough cleaning, clearing the drain, checking for buildup, and asking for help if needed, all while praying that the Lord would provide and keep your home in good order.
For the persistent heat, for open doors, for protection, and for strength to finish what needs to be done, remember that greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world, and if God is for us, who can be against us. We can easily become consumed with the physical pressures around us and lose sight of the spiritual reality that God is present, He is for His children, and He is able to provide. Bring the heat and the need for relief to Him and trust His timing. Bring the desire to gather with godly friends and to see doors opened for you and your loved ones, and ask above all that His will be done, that He would lead you to what is good and close what is not.
He also sees the smaller concern about your phone. Nothing is too small to bring to Him, and He gives strength for each task as you depend on Him daily.
May the Lord give you grace to keep singing praise to His name and to walk faithfully each day. I pray that He would grant you wisdom for your body, relief from the heat in His time, a clean and peaceful home, safe and encouraging fellowship, His clear leading for every open door, His protection over you and those you love, and strength to do what He has set before you. May your soul prosper deeply in Jesus, and may your whole life, body and spirit, be kept in His care.
