Church

We hear your request for clarity about whether to stay at your church and we join with you in seeking God's will together in Jesus' name.

We understand this can be a heavy and confusing decision, because God has placed us in the body of Christ not as isolated believers but as members together. Hebrews 10:25 reminds us not to forsake our own assembling together, as the custom of some is, but exhorting one another, and Acts 2:42 shows the early church continuing steadfastly in the apostles teaching and fellowship. At the same time we are called to test what we are taught and where we are planted. 1 John 4:1 tells us to test the spirits, whether they are of God, and Colossians 3:16 calls us to let the word of Christ dwell in us richly.

As we pray for wisdom for you, we encourage you to bring this matter before the Lord with a few biblical questions. Is your current church faithfully preaching the gospel and the whole counsel of God's Word without compromise. Is there sound doctrine, loving accountability, and opportunity to serve and use the gifts God has given you as part of the body as described in 1 Corinthians 12:27. Are you considering leaving because of biblical conviction, or because of hurt, conflict, or a desire to avoid correction or commitment. The Lord promises wisdom to those who ask. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. And Proverbs 3:5-6 urges us to Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and dont lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

We also encourage you to seek godly counsel within the church as you discern. Proverbs 11:14 says Where there is no wise guidance, the nation falls, but in the multitude of counselors there is victory. Talk to your pastor or elders, pray and even fast, and ask God to make His will clear through His Word, through peace, and through the counsel of mature believers. Romans 12:2 reminds us to be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God.

We noticed your request did not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Him that we have access to the Father and clarity in prayer. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. And Acts 4:12 declares There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your trust fully in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and to come to God in His name.

We pray together for you now.

Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and lift up this dear one who is seeking clarity. Lord, You know the heart and the questions and the wrestling about this church home. We ask You to grant wisdom liberally, to quiet confusion, and to lead by Your Holy Spirit and Your Word. Show whether to remain and be planted and serve faithfully, or whether You are truly calling to another place where Your Word is faithfully taught and Christ is honored. Give discernment to recognize sound doctrine, give humility to receive counsel, and give peace to the heart. Let Philippians 4:7 be real in this situation, that the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard the heart and thoughts in Christ Jesus. We ask that whatever the decision, it would be for Your glory and for spiritual growth and for deeper fellowship with Your people. In Jesus name we pray, amen.

We encourage you to remain faithful where you are while you pray, to continue serving and gathering, and to wait on the Lord's clear direction rather than acting hastily. He will make your path straight as you trust Him.

Thank you for letting us know about this decision weighing on you. Wanting clarity about your church home is a significant and tender thing to carry, and we are praying with you for wisdom as you seek God's leading.

It can help to give this question a little structure while you pray. You might find it useful to quietly write down what matters most to you in a church right now, what has felt life giving and what has felt unsettled, and what you hope to grow toward in this season. Talking it through with one wise, trusted person who knows you and your church, perhaps a pastor or mentor outside the immediate decision, can also bring perspective you cannot get on your own. And giving yourself a set period to pray, listen and observe, rather than pressing for an instant answer, often lets clarity emerge more peacefully.

We also encourage you to stay engaged in worship and community as you discern, so you can notice how God is meeting you there.

Father, we lift our friend to You and ask for Your gentle guidance. Give clear eyes to see what is true, a peaceful heart to hear Your leading, and wise counsel around them. Lead them step by step to where You would have them grow and serve. In Jesus' name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have carried your request to the throne of grace and we join you in asking the Lord for clear guidance.

It is a good and humble thing to confess that you need a guide, for naturally we do not like being guided, yet the work of grace teaches us our need of it. The psalmist said, You shall guide me with Your counsel, and afterward receive me to Glory. There is no true glory for any man who takes his own course, but there is sure guidance for those who take God for their Guide.

In seeking His counsel concerning your church, consider these principles which He infuses in those who wait upon Him.

First, bow with submission to the will of God. By that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance. Ask not only, What would please me, but, What would honor Christ and help me to walk in holiness. A principle given to all who are guided by Him is to avoid everything that is evil and to cleave to that which is good and true.

Second, do not act in haste, for haste is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Give time for prayer, for searching the Scriptures, and for the Lord to make His way plain. Continue to seek Him daily rather than demanding an immediate sign.

Third, seek counsel in fellowship. In our church fellowship there should be real fellowship and we should converse with one another. They that feared the Lord spoke often one to another. Speak with mature believers and elders in your church who know you, who can help bear your burden and speak a word that may help you as you struggle to do right. An isolated decision is seldom a wise one.

As you pray for clarity, ask the Lord to help you weigh whether your present congregation faithfully preaches Christ and Him crucified, whether it remembers His blood shed for the flock of God which He has purchased with His own blood, whether the Word is taught in truth and whether there is unity and love among the people. That church was always left to speak for itself by what it did in the Savior's cause, and a people who are united in the doctrines of grace and in service to Christ give evidence of His presence among them.

We also pray that fear will not rule you. Many fear they will make a wrong choice or be cut off from blessing, but the Lord invites us to trust Him even while we fear. Fearing and trusting may go together for a season, until trusting casts out fear.

Let us pray for you now. Our Father, we ask in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son, who alone is the way of salvation, that You would guide our brother and sister with Your counsel. Grant a submissive heart to Your will, patience to wait upon You, and wisdom to discern what is good and true. Show whether to remain and serve more faithfully where they are planted, or whether You would lead elsewhere for Your glory. Keep them from hasty resolve and from a dead form of religion, and make them alive and fruitful in fellowship with Your people. Lead them on earth by Your counsel and afterward receive them to glory. Amen.

We encourage you to continue in prayer, in the Word, and in honest conversation with faithful believers around you, trusting that the Lord who guides His people will make His path clear in His time.

Thank you for sharing your request for clarity about whether to stay at your church. We are praying for you and we take this question seriously, because where you worship and grow shapes your walk with Christ.

We have asked God to give you wisdom and peace as you seek His will. Scripture promises that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. We pray that He will quiet anxious thoughts and make His direction clear to you, and that you will hear His voice through His Word, through prayer, and through godly counsel.

As you pray for clarity, it may help to consider a few questions before the Lord:

First, is the gospel of Jesus Christ faithfully taught there, and is the Bible honored as the true Word of God. A church that holds fast to Christ as the only way of salvation and to Scripture as its authority is a place where you can be nourished and grow.

Second, are you able to grow, serve, and be accountable there. God places us in a body not only to receive but to give, to use our gifts, to bear with one another in love, and to be shaped by sound teaching and fellowship.

Third, is there an unresolved conflict or hurt that needs to be addressed. If so, Jesus teaches us to go directly to those involved, to speak the truth in love, and if needed to bring others along and to seek the help of the church. Sometimes clarity comes not by leaving quickly but by seeking reconciliation and speaking honestly with a pastor or elder.

Fourth, are there matters of unrepentant false teaching or practice that would require you to step away for the sake of conscience and faithfulness. If the teaching departs from the core truths of the faith, that is a different matter than a season of disappointment or disagreement on lesser things.

We encourage you to take time in prayer and in the Word, to write down what you are sensing, and to talk with one or two mature believers or leaders who know you and know the church well. Ask them to pray with you and to speak honestly. Do not make a hurried decision out of frustration or anxiety, but seek to obey what you already know God has shown you, trusting that He will guide your next steps.

We are praying for you in this way:

Father, we thank You for this one who desires to follow You faithfully. Give clear wisdom and a steady heart. Help them to hear Your Word with understanding, to love Your church, and to discern what is good and pleasing in Your sight. Lead them to the place where they can best know Christ, grow in holiness, and serve others for Your glory. Guard them from anxiety and from hasty choices, and fill them with Your peace as they trust in You. In the name of Jesus we pray, amen.

Please let us know how we can continue to pray for you, and if you have a trusted pastor or elder, we encourage you to share this burden with them as well.

Thank you for sharing this honest request and for wanting to seek the Lord's direction about where He has you. It is wise to bring this kind of question to prayer, because where you gather matters to your walk with Christ.

Scripture shows us that imperfection in the church is not new. Jesus Himself taught that in His kingdom the seed would fall on different kinds of soil and that evil would exist alongside good within the visible gathering. History bears that out, and it should keep us from expecting any congregation to be flawless. At the same time God has always kept a true witness for Himself, even when the larger picture has been compromised, and He calls each person to listen to what the Spirit is saying.

As you pray for clarity, it may help to evaluate your church by a few biblical marks.

First, is it faithful to the truth and discerning about what is evil. The church in Ephesus was commended because it did not tolerate what was evil and it tested what claimed to be true. A healthy church does not compromise for the sake of getting along. It lovingly holds to Scripture even when that is unpopular.

Second, is love present. That same church in Ephesus was warned that although it was discerning and hard working, it had left its first love. The Lord said that if it did not repent He would remove its lampstand, meaning He would not remain where love is absent. Where love grows cold, the presence and power of the Spirit is missing, no matter how correct the doctrine sounds. Look for whether love for Christ and love for one another in practical, sacrificial ways is evident. A church that emphasizes loving works, not just correct ideas, reflects what God intended.

Third, what pattern is it following. If you want to know what God intended the church to be, look to the book of Acts. There you see a people devoted to the teaching of the apostles, to fellowship, to prayer, and to caring for one another. It was a powerful and growing church, but its strength was spiritual, not organizational. Ask whether your church is seeking to emulate the world in its methods, its advertising, or its desire to be accepted by the culture. A church that tries to join itself to the worldly system and to legislate righteousness from the outside will not see real change, because true righteousness must come from the heart through the work of Christ.

Fourth, is there faithful, spiritual oversight. The New Testament shows churches cared for by qualified elders who oversee, pray, and seek God's guidance for the flock. Is the leadership shepherding with humility, prayer, and accountability to Scripture.

None of these questions is answered in a moment. Bring them before the Lord steadily. Stay in the Word, ask Him to show you whether you are being called to remain and help strengthen what is good, perhaps as part of His witness within that body, or whether the lack of truth or love or faithful leadership means He is leading you to a place where you can be better nourished and better serve. Seek counsel from mature believers who know you and who know Scripture, and watch for the fruit of the Spirit and the peace that comes from obedience, not just from comfort or preference.

I am praying for you, that God will give you wisdom and a clear sense of His leading, that He will guard your heart with His peace, and that wherever He plants you, you will grow in love for Jesus and be part of a fellowship that builds up the whole body for His glory.

Father, give our brother or sister discernment to know what is of You and what is not, love that reflects Your heart, and courage to follow Your voice. Lead to the place where Your Word is honored, Your Spirit is present, and Your people are being built up in love, for the sake of Jesus Christ. Amen.
