We hear the deep struggle in your heart, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this burden before the Lord. The pain of feeling targeted, misunderstood, and even mistreated within the body of Christ is a heavy cross to bear. Scripture reminds us in 1 Peter 5:8-9, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith." The spiritual warfare you describe is real, and it is no small thing to endure such attacks, especially from those who should be standing alongside you in love and truth.
It is concerning to hear of unkindness, potential racism, and even hostility within the church—these are not the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). The body of Christ is called to unity, love, and mutual edification, not division or harm. If members of the church, including leadership, are opening doors to the enemy through unrepentant sin, pride, or ungodly attitudes, this must be addressed with both truth and grace. Jesus Himself warned in Matthew 7:15, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves." Even in a church where the gospel is preached, the presence of unchecked sin or spiritual compromise can create a toxic environment.
We must also gently address the matter of your mother’s spiritual condition. While we rejoice that she professes Christ, her struggles with demonization and hostility toward the true gospel are serious. Scripture is clear that we cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24), and if she is harboring areas of her life that are not surrendered to Christ, she may be vulnerable to the enemy’s influence. We pray for her deliverance and repentance, that she would fully embrace the truth and walk in the freedom Christ offers.
As you consider whether to return to this church, we encourage you to seek the Lord’s wisdom above all else. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." If the church is making efforts to change, that is a good sign, but true repentance and transformation must be evident—not just words, but fruit. You have every right to protect your mental and spiritual well-being, and if you do return, it should be with caution, prayer, and clear boundaries.
We also want to remind you that your identity and worth are found in Christ alone. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and no amount of mistreatment or spiritual attack can change that. If this church is not a safe place for you, the Lord may have another body of believers where you can grow and serve in peace. Do not feel bound to a place where you are not loved or valued as you should be.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts on behalf of our sister in Christ. Lord, You see the pain she has endured, the spiritual attacks she has faced, and the confusion she feels about where to turn. We ask that You would give her clarity and wisdom as she seeks Your will. If this church is where You would have her remain, we pray for true repentance, healing, and restoration among its members. Expose any hidden sin, break the power of spiritual warfare, and let Your love and unity prevail.
Father, we also lift up her mother to You. We ask that You would deliver her from any demonic influence, soften her heart to the truth, and draw her into a deeper relationship with You. Protect our sister from any further harm, whether from the enemy or from those who may be used by him. Surround her with godly believers who will encourage and support her in her walk with You.
Lord, if this church is not where You would have her, we ask that You would open doors to a healthy, Christ-centered body of believers where she can thrive. Give her strength, peace, and discernment in every step she takes. Remind her that she is deeply loved by You and that her worth is found in Christ alone.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who has overcome the world and defeated the enemy. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in all things. Amen.
