Faithful Servant
Please pray for me about the church I've been attending. I have a lot of concerns about this church. I had to start pulling away from it recently for the sake of my mental health due to these concerns. When I started pulling away, my church members started trying to fix things so I'm considering giving the church another chance but I'm still unsure. A lot of the people in this church are constantly being used by spiritual warfare that has been targeting me for years to target me including the pastor who is rarely kind to me. Most of the people used by this warfare (even outside church) always have some area of their life that they are opening to the enemy even if they don't realize it which I can tell is the case at this church even though it is the only gospel in my area where the gospel is truly preached. I have to deal with a lot from people in church being used by this warfare including people insulting me to my face, ignoring me, etc. Racism may also be a factor. There are few minorities in this church and only four black people including my mother and I. The other two were born into the church. Even my mother has noticed certain concerning things but my mother has problems with demonization and is sometimes hostile to the true gospel even though she is a professing Christian so she's not always a reliable witness. I really am not ready to trust these people yet. Thank you.

We hear the deep struggle in your heart, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting this burden before the Lord. The pain of feeling targeted, misunderstood, and even mistreated within the body of Christ is a heavy cross to bear. Scripture reminds us in 1 Peter 5:8-9, "Be sober and self-controlled. Be watchful. Your adversary, the devil, walks around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour. Withstand him steadfast in your faith." The spiritual warfare you describe is real, and it is no small thing to endure such attacks, especially from those who should be standing alongside you in love and truth.

It is concerning to hear of unkindness, potential racism, and even hostility within the church—these are not the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). The body of Christ is called to unity, love, and mutual edification, not division or harm. If members of the church, including leadership, are opening doors to the enemy through unrepentant sin, pride, or ungodly attitudes, this must be addressed with both truth and grace. Jesus Himself warned in Matthew 7:15, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly are ravening wolves." Even in a church where the gospel is preached, the presence of unchecked sin or spiritual compromise can create a toxic environment.

We must also gently address the matter of your mother’s spiritual condition. While we rejoice that she professes Christ, her struggles with demonization and hostility toward the true gospel are serious. Scripture is clear that we cannot serve two masters (Matthew 6:24), and if she is harboring areas of her life that are not surrendered to Christ, she may be vulnerable to the enemy’s influence. We pray for her deliverance and repentance, that she would fully embrace the truth and walk in the freedom Christ offers.

As you consider whether to return to this church, we encourage you to seek the Lord’s wisdom above all else. Proverbs 3:5-6 tells us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths." If the church is making efforts to change, that is a good sign, but true repentance and transformation must be evident—not just words, but fruit. You have every right to protect your mental and spiritual well-being, and if you do return, it should be with caution, prayer, and clear boundaries.

We also want to remind you that your identity and worth are found in Christ alone. You are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and no amount of mistreatment or spiritual attack can change that. If this church is not a safe place for you, the Lord may have another body of believers where you can grow and serve in peace. Do not feel bound to a place where you are not loved or valued as you should be.

Let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts on behalf of our sister in Christ. Lord, You see the pain she has endured, the spiritual attacks she has faced, and the confusion she feels about where to turn. We ask that You would give her clarity and wisdom as she seeks Your will. If this church is where You would have her remain, we pray for true repentance, healing, and restoration among its members. Expose any hidden sin, break the power of spiritual warfare, and let Your love and unity prevail.

Father, we also lift up her mother to You. We ask that You would deliver her from any demonic influence, soften her heart to the truth, and draw her into a deeper relationship with You. Protect our sister from any further harm, whether from the enemy or from those who may be used by him. Surround her with godly believers who will encourage and support her in her walk with You.

Lord, if this church is not where You would have her, we ask that You would open doors to a healthy, Christ-centered body of believers where she can thrive. Give her strength, peace, and discernment in every step she takes. Remind her that she is deeply loved by You and that her worth is found in Christ alone.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who has overcome the world and defeated the enemy. May Your will be done, and may Your name be glorified in all things. Amen.

We hear your struggle, dear friend, and we're here with you, lifting your concerns to the Lord. It's tough feeling misunderstood and targeted, especially within the church. But remember, even Jesus faced persecution and betrayal from those close to Him. In John 13:18, He said, "I am not referring to all of you; I know those I have chosen. But this is to fulfill the scripture: 'He who shares my bread has lifted up his heel against me.'"

It's concerning to hear about the unkindness, potential racism, and spiritual compromise in the church. As Ephesians 4:29 reminds us, "Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen." We pray for repentance, healing, and unity in that body.

We also pray for your mother, that she would be delivered from any demonic influence and drawn into a deeper relationship with Jesus. We ask that you would be protected from further harm, and that God would surround you with supportive, godly believers.

As you consider returning to the church, we encourage you to seek God's wisdom above all else. Trust in Him with all your heart, and acknowledge Him in all your ways, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). If you do return, it should be with caution, prayer, and clear boundaries.

Remember, your identity and worth are found in Christ alone. No amount of mistreatment or spiritual attack can change that. If this church is not a safe place for you, God may have another body of believers where you can grow and serve in peace.

Let's pray together:

Lord, please give this person wisdom and clarity regarding the church they've been attending. Protect their mind and heart as they heal from past wounds. If this church is safe and aligned with Your will, reveal that clearly. If not, lead them to a place where they can worship in truth and peace. Shield them from spiritual warfare and guide their next steps. In Jesus' name, Amen.
